It’s taken me a while to try the We-Vibe Jive.
I’ve had its main competitors, the Lovense Lush and the OhMiBod Esca for a long time now. And honestly, I just didn’t think the Jive would add anything new.
I usually prefer Lovense’s version of a toy over We-vibe’s, and it seemed like the Jive wouldn’t be too different.
But while I’m late to the game – I’m glad I joined the team.
It turns out there are several aspects of the We-Vibe Jive I prefer over the similar toys from Lovense and OhMiBod. So lately I’ve been using it more than its competitors (and not just because I’ve been testing it for this guide).
But it’s not all rosy – the Jive still trails behind other app and remote control vibrators in some areas.
In this We-Vibe Jive review, I’ll share my experience (good and bad) with the We-Vibe Jive’s vibration power, vibe quality, noise level (especially during public play), app abilities, comfort, and battery life.
Now let’s get to it so you can make your pick!
We-Vibe Jive Vibrations
Not all egg vibrators like the Jive feel the same. And since the vibes are super important – let’s chat about them upfront!
First, you should know that the We-Vibe Jive provides only internal, G-spot vibrations. Not external, clitoral vibes.
The external arm is an antenna for better Bluetooth connectivity with the app – it doesn’t vibrate. So if you came here looking for discreet clit vibes, a clitoral panty vibrator might be a better fit. The Lovense Ferri (review here) is my personal favorite.
But I know someone who needs clitoral stimulation to orgasm and still loves her We-Vibe Jive (hint – it’s me).
Besides being my most comfortable G-spot vibe (and quietest for public play), I really enjoy the Jive’s G-spot vibrations.
The vibes are strong, and more importantly – they have an amazingly deep, rumbly quality. I’ll get into more specifics on the power and vibration feel in a moment.
I’ve also found the We-Vibe Jive is a great toy to pair with a clitoral vibe to get dual-stimulation without needing to hold two toys.
Because the Jive is hands-free, I can simply let it vibrate away on my G-spot. Then I can maneuver my clit vibe wherever I want it for easy dual-stimulation.
It feels great! Think simultaneous head, neck, back, and foot massage type great.
Alright, let’s get into more specifics!
Rumbly or Buzzy
Usually, I chat about vibration power first, but I’ve discovered what keeps me coming back to the Jive is how rumbly its vibrations are!
A vibrator’s motor lands somewhere on a spectrum from rumbly to buzzy.
Buzzy toys offer more of a tickly, surface-level feel. They can feel pretty intense but also numbing to some people. They sound higher-pitched if that helps you identify what you might have already tried.
On the other hand, rumbly toys have a lower pitch, and their vibes travel deeper into your body.
If you haven’t yet identified whether you prefer rumbly or buzzy toys, I’d recommend using that Pitch Test: Turn your toys on and listen to whether your favorite toy sounds higher or lower than the others!
If it’s high – you probably prefer buzzy vibes. If it’s low, you might be one of the many rumble-lovers.
And if you haven’t tried vibrators yet – it’s a lot of personal preference, but most people prefer their toys somewhere on the rumbly side.
I’ve found that I prefer slightly buzzier toys clitorally but rumbly toys for internal use. So the We-Vibe Jive is a perfect G-spot toy for me and anyone who likes deep-feeling toys.
It is all rumble.
Not a hint of buzz.
I’d recommend the We-Vibe Jive to G-spot rumble-lovers like myself. But for a buzzy-body, you may enjoy how the vibes of Lovense Lush 3 feel more.
Vibration Power
So what kind of power is the We-Vibe Jive working with compared to similar toys?
I started by holding the three main app-controlled egg-vibrators in my hand to feel the power difference. Here are my observations on the OhMiBod Esca 2 vs Lovense Lush 3 vs We-Vibe Jive’s raw vibration power:
In the hand, the Jive is not the strongest of the three. The Lush 3 has the most power. I estimate the top level of the We-Vibe Jive is about 80% of the Lush’s peak power.
But here’s the thing – I actually feel more stimulated from the Jive’s vibrations than from the technically stronger Lush 3.
You heard it here folks – I prefer the We-Vibe Jive’s vibes over the Lush 3.
Here’s the best way I can describe it: Even though the Jive’s vibrations are not as strong as the Lush, the vibes are much more rumbly. And these rumbly vibrations just feel better and more impactful on my G-spot.
While I enjoy the Lush’s vibes too, I sometimes find their slightly buzzier quality “distracting.” As someone who usually prefers clit stimulation, there are times when G-spot stimulation starts to become too much and feels overwhelming to me.
But the Jive’s rumbly vibrations just always feel good.
I haven’t hit that moment that I do with many buzzier vibes where I feel like “Okay, I’ve got to take this out now.”
If you’re a power-queen, the Lush 3 is stronger, so it may be a better fit for you. But ultimately, the slightly lower power is not a strike against the We-Vibe Jive for me.
The We-Vibe Jive also has a great power range. Its starting levels are really low, and it slowly builds to its highest power. So the range is a bit wider compared to the Lush!
I really appreciated this, and it’s great if you’re nervous about over-stimulation. I like falling back to soothing low levels during long play sessions when I want a break.
Bottom Line: We-Vibe Jive Vibrations
I was surprised by how much I liked the We-Vibe Jive’s vibrations. Even though they don’t reach quite the extreme power of the Lush 3’s top levels, I find their ultra-rumbly quality more stimulating and enjoyable.
It’s got a broad, full power spectrum. It has both soft, teasy levels and strong upper levels.
Noise Level: Is the We-Vibe Jive Loud?
If you’re a review skimmer, I’ll save you some time: The We-Vibe Jive is one of the quietest toys I own.
Even if you’re holding this toy out in the open and turn it on, it’s pretty dang quiet. But wearable egg vibrators are worn on the inside, so your body muffles the sound even more.
If you’re looking for the quietest G-spot toy – this is it! The Jive is quieter than the OhMiBod Esca 2 and the Lovense Lush 3.
Let’s get into the details of where you can use the We-Vibe Jive discreetly.
I like to test all my wearable vibrators out at three locations with my partner sitting near me to see if he can hear the vibrations.
I tested the We-Vibe Jive at a brewery, a quiet coffee shop, and at home. At each spot, I ran through all the power levels and my partner told me if he could hear it.
I quickly learned I could do whatever pattern and intensity I wanted at the brewery. There was no chance anyone could hear it.
Brewery – 100% in the clear.
At the coffee shop with soft music fading in and out, I tested the lower levels first. When we were confident they couldn’t be heard, I increased the level and began pulsing the vibes at the highest power. My partner still could hear nothing sitting on the couch next to me.
Coffee Shop – 100% in the clear
Next my partner sat about 10 feet away from me in the same room of our quiet house. We tested with the air conditioning on and off.
Often this is the test that my partner can hear the toy. But with the We-Vibe Jive, my partner couldn’t even hear the vibes while in the same room of our quiet home.
I could hardly hear the Jive myself.
Silent Home – 100% in the clear
Sound won’t be an issue for you with this toy. But I still recommend you always test first to make sure you and your partner are the only ones in on the fun!
You’ll also still want to make sure you have your own seat. Even though sound won’t be noticeable, someone might feel the vibrations if you share the same couch.
Bottom Line: We-Vibe Jive Noise Level
The We-Vibe Jive is the quietest G-spot vibrator I’ve tried! So if you want a toy that will remain discreet, this is a great choice.
We-Vibe Jive App Quality: Bluetooth Control (Close-range)
The We-Connect app, which controls the Jive is pretty good, but it does have its weak points. The app control is one of the areas I prefer the Lovense Lush 3.
As we get into the We-Connect app, I’ll cover both the good and bad. First, we’ll cover how you can control the Jive with the app in both Bluetooth range and long-distance. Then we’ll chat specifically about the connectivity here
The We-Connect app provides several different ways to control your Jive.
One of the app’s best features is the myriad of preset vibration patterns available to use and adjust to your liking. There are ten preset patterns for you to choose from with a range of pulses, waves, crescendos, and others.
It’s easy to select a pattern you like and get vibin’ away quickly.
You can increase or decrease the intensity of each pattern by pulling up or down on your screen.
Another way to control the We-Vibe Jive is with the “Touch” feature in the app.
I actually find the Touch feature to be pretty useless.
The idea is to touch the screen and change the intensity or speed of the vibes by how quickly you’re moving your finger. But to get a substantial vibe from this, you really have to go to town with your finger.
If you’re using the We-Vibe Jive in public, furiously swiping around your screen is not the most charming look.
The “Beat” feature is nice though! You can choose for your We-Vibe Jive to vibrate in sync with a song saved on your phone or the sounds around you that your phone’s mic picks up.
Syncing with a song can be an enjoyable way to keep your Jive’s vibrations changing automatically. But if you lock your phone, it can stop vibrating to the music and just vibes at a constant level. Lovense’s app keeps their toys vibrating to the song even if you lock your phone screen.
Using the sounds around you to control your Jive is good way to keep the noise level low. The vibes will only get louder when your environment is noisier. It can give some added peace of mind.
There is also a “Create Your Own Vibe” feature, but this one was a letdown. You can technically draw out what you want your vibe to be. But it’s a small space to draw in, and you can’t feel the vibes as you draw.
So you have no idea how your creation will feel until you’ve completed it.
Lovense has a similar feature where you feel the vibes as you draw them. It really helps you create something you’ll actually enjoy!
Since this “Create Your Own” feature is what I use the most in the Lovense App, I was hoping for more with We-Connect.
We-Vibe’s strength is the variety of preset patterns that are easy to select and adjust.
Overall, the We-Connect app is pretty easy to use once you get used to where everything is!
Bottom Line: App Quality in Close Range Bluetooth Control
This app is pretty easy to use and provides a decent variety of control options. Its most useful features are the preset patterns and the music/sound control. Where Lovense’s app focuses on super-detailed control over your vibes, We-Vibe’s app focuses on providing easy selection from preset patterns that you can adjust yourself.
If you like built-in patterns and simplicity, the We-Vibe Jive’s app will be a great fit for you! If you’d rather have precise control, you may prefer Lovense’s app.
We-Vibe Jive Long Distance App Quality
This section is for you if you’re considering this toy because you’d like to have fun with a long-distance partner!
You can text, send photos, voice call, video chat, and share control of your We-Vibe Jive – all within the We-Connect app. If your partner also has a We-Vibe toy, you can even control each others’ toys simultaneously.
We found that the partner without the toy has to send the request (rather than the toy-holder to invite control). So that is one strange aspect that forces the “first-move” to be on one end.
Once your partner has control of your toy, they can select from the preset patterns (or created patterns) and adjust them as you normally would.
They can also control your toy while you’re video chatting. You can maximize or minimize the video screen quickly for better control or easier viewing.
Your partner will be saved in the We-Connect app once you connect with them the first time. However, we have occasionally needed to add each other again. If you want to remove your partner, you can do this in the “Settings.”
You can see whether your partner is online by the colored dot next to their icon. Sending or requesting control of a toy requires permission on both users’ ends.
You won’t be able to “surprise” your partner by taking control since they’ll need to accept the request each time. If that’s important to you, Lovense’s app allows you to let a partner take spontaneous control if you’d like.
Either partner can end the long-distance session at any time.
A unique feature of We-Vibe’s app is that partners can switch between who is controlling the toy. My partner can control my Jive for a while; then I can take control for a bit, and then give it right back.
I enjoy this feature since sometimes I know what I want at a particular moment. It’s nice to take back control for a bit myself. With Lovense’s app you cannot switch back and forth as quickly as We-Vibe’s.
We-Vibe Jive Connectivity
We’ve talked about all you can do to control your Jive in the We-Connect app. Now let’s talk about how easy it is to get connected and stay connected so you can actually do those things!
Bluetooth Mode Connectivity and Range
First let’s cover playing nearby within Bluetooth range.
Pairing the We-Vibe Jive to the app is often super quick and easy. But sometimes I get stuck in a cycle of trying and failing to pair the Jive.
When it doesn’t pair, I’ll often need to close the app, re-open it, and select to pair again. I may need to do this a few times before it successfully connects.
In the worst-case scenario, I’ll need to go to my phone’s Bluetooth devices list and remove the We-Vibe Jive. Then it seems to connect again easily.
This can be annoying if my toy disconnects while I’m out in public. I don’t really have the time or privacy to troubleshoot the glitch.
Other times, I open the We-Connect app, and it pairs instantly. It’s just a bit hit or miss. I’d say it pairs quickly about 4 out of 5 times.
Once connected, the We-Vibe Jive does a better job of staying paired. Too much distance between the app and vibrator can cause it to disconnect though, as will a long period of inactivity.
I’m able to lock my phone screen, and the Jive keeps vibrating. On average, I could go about 15 minutes without adjusting the vibes before it would disconnect. If you’re more active with your control, disconnections will be rarer.
I always like to run a “radius test” with my toys. I’ll see how far my partner can walk away from me before my toy disconnects. My partner was able to control my Jive consistently until about 40 feet away before it dropped the Bluetooth connection.
When the phone and Jive were back in range, it usually repaired automatically.
Long Distance Mode Connectivity
When we tested the We-Vibe Jive long distance, it worked well once we were connected.
Control was responsive. Video chatting was smooth. Switching back and forth between my partner and myself controlling the Jive went well.
But again, initially getting connected together can sometimes take a few tries.
We encountered a glitch where sometimes my partner was online, but their status showed as “offline,” so I couldn’t send them an invite. Closing and opening the app often fixed this, but sometimes we’d need to quickly remove and re-add each other as partners to make it work again.
Besides this, while we tested the We-Vibe Jive, I had no other troubles with long-distance connectivity. Though I will say, the We-Connect app has struggled long-distance with some of our other We-Vibe toys. So the We-Connect app can be hit-or-miss.
Lovense’s app has provided a more consistent, reliable long-distance experience if you plan to play long-distance frequently.
Bottom Line: We-Vibe Jive Connectivity
Overall, the We-Connect app has occasional connectivity issues with the Jive – mainly in connecting it to the app. Once it’s connected, it works well. This is not a huge deal if you want this toy to use at home.
If you plan on playing regularly out of the house or with a long-distance partner you may want the improved reliability of the Lovense app. The Lush 3 and Lovense app have been very reliable in Bluetooth and long-distance modes!
Comfort
I want to be as comfortable as humanly possible at all times. In literally whatever I’m wearing: clothes, shoes, and in this case – sex toys.
Comfort is crucial for wearable toys because you may have your toy in for a few hours.
I’ll be the first to say – internal egg vibrators like the We-Vibe Jive give a bit of a stretch! Especially considering you still have to get up and walk around with it. External panty vibrators like the Lovense Ferri are the most comfortable wearable vibrators to me.
But the We-Vibe Jive is by far the most comfortable of all my wearable G-spot vibrators.
The Jive is slimmer than the OhMiBod Esca and Lovense Lush. So it’s easier to get in, and it’s less noticeable to wear out and about.
The widest part of the We-Vibe Jive is 1.25 inches, compared to the 1.5 inch width of the Lovense Lush.
So if you value comfort over feeling more filled up, you’ll probably prefer the Jive. Personally, I enjoy wearing it more than my other egg vibrators because of how comfortable it is.
For my ladies who like it thick, the Lush will be your more satisfying companion. The Lush’s shape also has a pronounced bump to really press into that G-spot, while the Jive’s shape spreads the vibes around a little more diffusely.
I actually could feel the Jive’s vibrations both higher and lower along my front wall, which I really liked.
The egg vibrator’s antenna also affects how comfortable the toy is. The antenna arm on the Jive is chef’s kiss.
The antenna is very flexible, but naturally lays close to the body, which is awesome.
This means it doesn’t jostle around, and won’t hit you uncomfortably. It also won’t press hard against you or your pants.
And it’s thin, so there won’t be any noticeable bump.
Bottom Line: We-Vibe Jive Comfort
The We-Vibe Jive’s slimmer size and excellent antenna design make it the most comfortable egg vibrator I’ve tried! If you prefer feeling more full, you’ll probably prefer the Lush. But, if you care more about comfort, the Jive is the way!
Battery Life and Charging
The Jive charges through a magnetic charging port. This type is my favorite because I’m not worried about damaging its water-proof rating over time! There are no holes in the silicone that may wear out eventually.
In one session, the We-Vibe Jive typically lasts about 2 hours if I’m using medium to high-power levels.
This is in the typical range for wearable vibrators, though some have a longer battery life. For instance, the Lush beats it out with 3-5 hours of battery life!
That’s the longest I’ve experienced.
We-Vibe Jive Review Results
I’ve been surprised by how much I enjoy the We-Vibe Jive.
It’s easily the most comfortable and quietest egg vibrator I’ve tried. And while it’s not quite as strong as the Lovense Lush, I prefer the We-Vibe Jive’s deep, rumbly vibrations.
The We-connect app is simple and easy to use, though you will have to deal with some disconnections and occasional struggle pairing. Difficulties are more frequent than with our Lovense toys, but it hasn’t been enough to take away the enjoyment of using the Jive.
If you plan on playing long distance frequently, I think a Lovense toy would be a better fit. But if you’ll usually be playing nearby, I prefer the Jive’s stimulation and think it’s a worthwhile toy.
I think the We-Vibe Jive is a great toy if you:
- Enjoy exceptionally rumbly vibrations
- Want a wide range of power from low to high
- Enjoy vibration strength, but don’t need the HIGHEST power level out there
- Want the absolute quietest egg vibrator
- Would like an app-controlled toy rather than a remote-controlled toy
- Want a simple, easy-to-learn app
- Won’t be frustrated by the occasional app-disconnect or glitch
- Really value comfort
- Prefer slim G-spot vibrators
- Are happy with 2 hours of battery life
I think an alternative wearable vibrator might be better for you if you:
- Would rather have a stronger vibrator than a more rumbly vibrator
- Want the option for remote-control
- Want the most reliable connectivity (Lovense’s connectivity is better)
- Prefer wider, girthier toys
- Want 3 hours or more of battery life
We-Vibe Jive Alternatives
Stronger Alternative and Better App – Lovense Lush 3
If you’re looking for a stronger toy than the Jive, the Lush 3 is the strongest wearable G-spot vibrator I’ve found.
Be aware that it has buzzier vibrations than the We-Vibe Jive.
It’s also slightly less comfortable than the Jive because it is a bit wider. So the Lush provides more of a stretch and firmer G-spot pressure. So if you care more about feeling full and having more substantial pressure, the Lush would be a great fit for you.
I prefer the Lush 3’s app over the Jive’s because it has more reliable connectivity. It also has a better setup for more customized vibe control, and has almost all the same abilities as the Jive, plus MORE.
Read my Lush 3 review here for all the details!
Cheaper Alternative – Lush 2
The Lush 2 is the older version of the Lush 3. But since it’s older, it’s a bit cheaper!
The internal egg is the same size, shape, and vibration strength. But its antenna is stiffer, which is a bit less comfortable than the newer model.
The strength of this toy is still top-level, and the app is the same as the Lush 3.
So if you want a slightly cheaper toy, this one still provides a high-quality experience. I’d recommend it as long as you’re up for buzzier vibes and lower comfort levels compared to the Jive.
You can also see a detailed breakdown of how it compares to the new model in my Lovense Lush 2 vs Lush 3 comparison.
We-Vibe Jive vs Chorus: A Dual-Stimulation Alternative
If you’re someone who needs clitoral stimulation in addition to G-spot stimulation, the We-Vibe Chorus may interest you.
The Chorus is less powerful than the Jive, but it has both an internal and external motor. It’s also wearable during sex unlike the Jive!
The Chorus uses the same app as We-Vibe, so it has all the same capabilities, including long-distance play.
If you were bummed that the Jive doesn’t provide clit stimulation, the Chorus could be a great fit for you.
I have a full We-Vibe Chorus review here if you want more info.
Final Thoughts
The We-Vibe Jive is my most comfortable wearable G-spot vibrator! It’s slimmer size, and form-fitting antenna make it comfortable and unnoticeable while standing, walking, or sitting!
The Jive is also extremely quiet. This makes it a great toy to wear out and about for longer-periods while still being comfortable. I’m also always confident that the people around me will not notice the vibrations.
The app has several great features, though I prefer apps with less-frequent disconnections and a bit more customization. So when it comes to long-distance play, it’s not my first pick, but it’s nice to know I have the option.
