When It Matters

Most wand vibrators lasted well over an hour and many over 2 hours running on their highest power level (and they will last even longer if you use lower power levels too). So this only matters if you plan to have long sessions between charges. Or if you’re considering one of the wands with a short runtime.

Battery Operated Bodywand and Vibratex Mystic
The only two battery-operated wands I own – Bodywand Aqua (left) and Vibratex Mystic (right). I recommend going with corded or rechargeable instead

It also matters if your wand uses AA batteries since you don’t want to spend a fortune running through batteries (only two wands we’ve tested use AA batteries). I highly recommend a rechargeable or plug-in wand vibrator.

Additionally, if you go with a plug-in wand, you don’t need to consider battery life since it’s powered through your wall outlet.

We measure battery life by fully charging all wands, laying them out on the bed, and turning them all to their highest power. We selected high power on a constant vibration because this will take up the most battery life. So any experience you have with the wand will be a greater than, or equal battery life since you’ll likely use some of the lower powers on occasion.

For testing, we set a timer, and check in on them every 10 minutes to find which ones are still vibrating. I found that a few of the toys had automatic shut-offs after about 20 minutes. So I re-tested these sitting right next to them. And each time a wand turned off, I turned it back on immediately.

Though the non-rechargeable wands lasted the longest, I do not recommend a battery-operated wand. I much prefer rechargeable options, which are better long-term if you do not want to spend on batteries. Battery costs add up as they may take 3-4 batteries at a time.

Long Battery Life Magic Wand Mini and Rechargeable
My favorite, longest-lasting wands: the Magic Wand Mini (left) and Magic Wand Rechargeable (right)

The Magic Wand Mini or Rechargeable are two of the rechargeable options I really enjoy that have a higher-than average battery life. I can play with these two for over three hours on high power the whole time! These are great if you want to have the option of moving around too.

But if you really don’t want to be limited by battery life, I’d recommend a plug-in option such as the Doxy Die Cast or Magic Wand Plus.

A Note On AA Battery-Powered Wands

The wands that take AA batteries were tested with the rest, and their battery-life is recorded in the chart. These were tested with Duracell AA batteries, and results may differ based on battery brand.
