Our Verdict

Since the Le Wand Rechargeable is one of the most expensive wand massagers, I had high expectations when I bought it. But I found its performance fairly average.

While it has the extreme power you’d expect from a full-sized wand, it’s still not quite as strong (or rumbly) as comparable, less expensive options like the Magic Wand Plus or Rechargeable. It’s also missing soft, low levels for when you’re getting warmed up.

The Le Wand Rechargeable is also of the heaviest wands I own, but the handle is not contoured to make holding it any easier. So I find my arm and hand get tired quickly.

There are several comparable wands I enjoy more overall at cheaper prices. Jump down here for my recommended alternatives or keep reading to learn more about the Le Wand Rechargeable’s performance.

Compare Wand Vibrators

The Le Wand Rechargeable is an expensive, luxury wand vibrator with only decent performance. It lacks truly gentle settings, but also doesn’t have as much strength as other wands in its price range. Since its vibrations are somewhat buzzy but not too extreme, it’s only worth considering if you prefer moderate strength and buzziness. If you want more power, consider the less expensive BMS PalmPower Extreme or Magic Wand Plus. And if you value exceptional rumbliness and a luxurious aesthetic, consider the Fun Factory Vim.

Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating

8.2

What is it:

How strong the wand vibrator’s highest power level feels.

When does it matter:

If you prefer the extreme power some wands offer or want to make sure your wand at least reaches a certain strength.

Scoring Factors:

Subjectively Scored

Power Range Rating:

6.2

What is it:

How wide the range is between the highest and lowest power levels, and whether it has enough power levels that steps between levels aren’t too large.

When does it matter:

A broad power range is usually important because it enables more versatile stimulation. You can start on softer levels when your body isn’t ready for crazy strong power. But when you want more strength, you can turn it up high.

Power vs Frequency Graph:

What is it:

A graph of each wand vibrator’s power vs frequency across all of its power levels.

When does it matter:

If you want a detailed look at the full power and frequency characteristics of any particular wand vibrator. This will tell you how strong and how rumbly each setting of the wand feels.

How Strong Is Each Power?

  • Power ≤ 3: Comparable to the vibration strength of smaller vibrators like bullets.
  • Power between 3 and 4.5: Comparable to …

(Expand Descriptions)

  • Power ≤ 3: Comparable to the vibration strength of smaller vibrators like bullets.
  • Power between 3 and 4.5: Comparable to the vibration strength of mid-sized, non-wand vibrators like the Lelo Mona 2, Lovense Hyphy, Lovense Lush 3, We-Vibe Nova 2, etc.
  • Power between 4.5 and 7: Slightly to moderately more powerful than mid-sized, non-wand vibrators like those mentioned above.
  • Power ≥ 7: Substantially stronger than other kinds of vibrators. These levels feel extremely powerful.

The Vibration Power scale is defined with a 10.0 given to the most powerful wand vibrator’s highest strength (Currently the Doxy Die Cast). So a vibration power of 8.0 feels 80% as strong as the Doxy Die Cast. A 5.0 feels 50% as strong, and so on.

The Le Wand Rechargeable has moderate to high-powered vibrations. It has 8 intensity levels, so increasing power is gradual. But it begins already fairly strong – there are no truly gentle levels for when you’re warming up.

And although the Le Wand Rechargeable is strong it has one of the weakest top-power levels for a wand its size. This may not matter to you – many people never use the upper strengths on their wand vibrators. But since it’s priced so high, I’d expect to have the option.

Le Wand Rechargeable with Smaller and Stronger Wands
Le Wand (left) vs stronger wands of comparable size – BMS PalmPower Extreme (middle) and Magic Wand Plus (right)

Wands this large and heavy are also more difficult to leverage for good pressure – so more natural power is nice to have. So if you like this size, I would recommend getting a stronger one like the BMS PalmPower Extreme or Magic Wand Plus

And if you’re really on the hunt for the highest power – the Doxy Die Cast is the strongest wand massager I own.

Each of these also has a softer warmup power level.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating:

6.2

What is it:

How “rumbly” (low frequency) or “buzzy” (high frequency) a wand vibrator feels at each of its power levels. And whether a wand can deliver strong vibrations while remaining reasonably rumbly. Higher scores indicate a “more rumbly” (lower-frequency) wand, since the majority of people prefer rumbliness. But ultimately vibration frequency is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a specific area along the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum.

When does it matter:

If you want a detailed look at the full power and frequency characteristics of any particular wand vibrator. This will tell you how strong and how rumbly each setting of the wand feels.

Frequency on Low Power:

75 Hz

(Moderately Rumbly)

Median Frequency:

94 Hz

(Moderately Buzzy)

What is it:

What part of the frequency spectrum a wand vibrator’s power levels are centered around. It’s the vibration frequency of the wand’s middle power level (the average of the two middle levels if there is an even number of settings).

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a particular part of the frequency spectrum. This is a fast way to see whether one wand’s vibration levels are generally more rumbly or buzzy than another wand’s vibration settings. Since most people prefer rumbly toys, a higher performance score implies a lower-frequency (more rumbly) wand.

Frequency on High Power:

104 Hz

(Moderately Buzzy)

Ave Power Per Frequency:

6.6

What is it:

A measure that rewards wand vibrators that remain rumbly (low-frequency) while packing good vibration strength. Calculated for a wand using the normalized power / normalized frequency at each power level and taking the median.

When does it matter:

If you want a wand with a good balance of power and rumbliness.

Show All Scores (Click to See):

We rate rumbly wands higher than buzzy wands since most people prefer rumbliness. But vibration frequency is a personal preference. Consider what you enjoy!

The Le Wand Rechargeable is a buzzy vibrator. But it’s not too far on the buzzy side, so some people will enjoy it.

Only the lowest level falls (just barely) in the moderately rumbly range. Most of its power levels feel buzzy. Even though I enjoy some buzzy vibrators, high-frequency vibrations with this much power feel really uncomfortable to me.

If you want a powerful wand like the Le Wand Rechargeable, most people will prefer something with more rumbliness. Consider a strong, rumbly wand like the Fun Factory Vim, the Magic Wand Rechargeable, or the Viben Sultry.

Comfort & Ease Of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating:

7.3

What is it:

How comfortable the wand is to hold and press against your body. As well as how easy it is to press the buttons, leverage the wand for good pressure, and maneuver it to apply the stimulation where and how you want it. This rating also includes how easy the wand is to clean. Ratings are based primarily on solo use – I cover use during partnered sex here.

When does it matter:

If you are easily distracted by subtle discomforts such as feeling the vibrations in your hands, slight wrist strain, or an awkward grip on the handle. It also matters if you want a wand that’s easy to use for a wide variety of stimulation or for long periods of time.

These wands have excellent performance in this category and others. We only include wands we recommend overall, excluding wands that perform well here but not in other areas.
