Romp Flip vs BMS Swan Era Wand Side-By-Side Comparison
Performance Ratings
Our Verdict
The Romp Flip is one of the least expensive wand massagers available.
But it has weak vibrations, and the extremely flexible neck makes it hard to apply any pressure. So I have a difficult time orgasming with the Romp Flip. It also feels cheaply made – my first Romp Flip broke within the first 5 months of use.
The Romp Presto is a much better choice, and the best wand I own under $50. Or if you have some wiggle room in the budget, there are several great options that are only slightly more expensive – including two of my favorites, the Magic Wand Mini and Dame Com.
The BMS Swan Era Wand is great if you’re on a budget and want gentle to moderate, rumbly vibrations with more precise stimulation than a typical wand vibrator.
The controls allow very gradual adjustability, and every setting is rumbly – a rare feature in this price range. This is great for those easily overstimulated because there are no big power jumps or buzzy vibrations.
The small head allows you to limit contact to the spots you want, preventing fatigue from vibrations hitting your leg or blanketing too much space.
However, it only reaches moderate strength, though good for its tiny size, and has poor mount and attachment compatibility due to its small head. If you need more intensity, or prefer the broad stimulation of a typical wand, the Orion Your New Favorite Wand is a stronger (though less rumbly) option with a full-sized head at a similar price.

Vibrations: Power And Range
The Romp Flip is one of my weakest wand vibrators. Its top strength is closer to the middle power levels of my best bullet vibrators. And all 6 intensity levels are so close together that they essentially feel the same.
The Romp Flip is only a good option for people who are very easily overstimulated.
But if you’re looking for power, like people considering wand vibrators usually are, you have a few options.
First – if you’re here because the Romp Flip is budget-friendly, you should check out the Romp Presto instead. This wand costs the same, but has more than 3x the vibration strength of the Romp Flip.
If you’ve got a bit more budget, you can find several wands under $100 (or less) that provide a more traditional wand vibrator feel.
If you prefer moderate power, the Magic Wand Mini or Dame Com are stronger than my non-wand vibrators (like G-spot vibes, rabbit vibrators, etc.). But they don’t have the extreme upper levels some wands reach. They’re great if you like some strength, but find too much power overwhelming.
And if you want those immense upper levels, the Magic Wand Plus is one of the strongest wand vibrators available, and it is the most powerful wand under $100.
The BMS Swan Era has a reasonable power range, starting gently and reaching a moderate 5 out of 10 strength on high.
This is only half the strength of my strongest wands, but it’s still stronger than most of my non-wand vibrators, and enough for me.
This is a wider power range and higher max power than most of what you’ll find in this price range. Only one wand at this price has as much range as the Swan Era while reaching a higher top strength – the Orion Your New Favorite Wand.
The Swan Era Wand’s press and hold, continuous control system allows you to make tiny adjustments to the power. If you want a slow, gradual build and don’t need anything too strong, the Swan Era is a great choice at this price. For more power, consider something stronger like the Orion Your New Favorite Wand.
Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)
We rate wands with rumbly vibrations higher than wands with buzzy vibes. The frequency you enjoy is completely a personal preference… But most people prefer vibrations somewhere on the rumbly side of the spectrum, so we rate those higher.
The Romp Flip’s vibrations feel rumbly, but they are very weak.
Our rumbliness rating has two components. The first component considers what part of the frequency spectrum the wand’s power levels are in. All 6 of the Romp Flip’s power levels are in the low-frequency, extremely rumbly range.
But our second component takes into account how much power the wand has for its amount of rumbliness. And here the Romp Flip significantly underperforms. In other words, there are wands with a lot more power while remaining just as low-frequency (rumbly).
Most people will want one of these more powerful, rumbly wands.
For instance, the Dame Com’s frequencies range from 36 Hz (extremely rumbly) on low power to 56 Hz (extremely rumbly) on high power. This is nearly identical to the Romp Flip’s frequency range, but the Dame Com has about 3 times the vibration strength. It’s one of my favorite rumbly wand vibrators.
We rate rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because it’s what most people prefer. However, this is an area of personal preference, so consider what you enjoy.
The BMS Swan Era Wand is impressively rumbly, especially considering its tiny size and affordability. Every setting in this continuous range is either extremely or moderately rumbly. These low-frequency vibrations travel deep into your body for an impactful, spread-out feel.
The depth of the vibrations stood out to me when I first started using this toy because vibrations with this much depth are often more expensive. The Orion Your New Favorite Wand and Satisfyer Wand-er are the only comparable wands at this price point, but they’re larger.
It’s a great choice for those seeking rumbly vibes on a budget!
Comfort & Ease of Use
While the Romp Flip isn’t uncomfortable, it’s not as easy to use as many of my wand vibrators.
It only has a one-button to control the vibrations. This means you’ll need to cycle through the vibration power levels – you cannot move up and down. The button is also positioned in a way that I need to shift my hand when I want to adjust the power.
And I just find it a little awkward to hold due to the tapering handle. The material is less grippy than I usually like, and the handle is surprisingly wide for how short the wand is. Overall it just makes it feel strange in my hand.
But the small head size and flexible neck help the Romp Flip feel comfortable against my body. However, since the neck is so flexible, it also diminishes the pressure you can apply. And since the vibes are weak, I need to press this wand firmly to my vulva.
If you like the size of the Romp Flip, the Romp Presto is more comfortable, easy to maneuver, and has better controls, at the same price.
If you’ve got a bit more budget, the Magic Wand Mini is another compact wand and one of my personal favorites. It has a better power range, good rumbliness, and is very comfy and easy to use.
The BMS Swan Era Wand is very easy to use and comfortable, with the exception of some vibrations in the handle.
It’s hard to avoid feeling hand vibrations on small wands like this since the motor is so close to your hand. However, since it’s so rumbly, I don’t find the handle vibrations distracting. But if you’re extra sensitive to this, the Romp Presto does a better job of keeping the vibrations isolated to the head.
Leveraging the short handle for long periods could be more tiring than wands with longer handles. But at just 4.9 ounces, its very light so it’s easy to hold. And the flared base provides a good leverage point for the thumb when applying pressure. This tiny wand is easy to move around, and the silky silicone provides a comfortable grip.
Traditional wands have a large head for broad stimulation, like the Orion Your New Favorite Wand. But the BMS Swan Era has a small head, which is great if you prefer more precise stimulation than large wands provide.
Since the Swan Era’s vibrations are so rumbly, they can bump against your pubic bone more easily since the vibration movements are bigger, so the small head is important. This way, you can limit contact to fleshier areas to keep it comfortable.
The single button press-and-hold control system is different than most and takes some familiarization if you’re not used to it. But it allows very gradual power adjustments instead of limiting you to preset power settings.
Hold the button until you reach the desired strength, then let go. Then tap once to turn it off, and again to start at the lowest strength. This makes it easy to reach the strongest or weakest power quickly.
Use During Sex
Even though the Romp Flip is small, I don’t enjoy it during sex – mostly because it’s so weak.
A wand with this little power becomes an inconvenience during sex. I hardly notice the vibrations, so I’m stuck holding a wand with none of the benefits. And since the Flip’s neck is so flexible, the vibrations feel even less impactful without the ability to apply pressure.
Again – the Romp Presto is a more powerful, inexpensive wand that’s very easy to use during sex. It’s a better option if you need to stick in the Romp Flip’s price range.
But if you can increase your budget a bit, the Magic Wand Mini is only about $30 more and works extremely well during sex. It’s small in size to easily fit in tight spaces. It has a plush head to avoid uncomfortable pressure on your pubic bone. And it has power buttons that allow you to toggle up or down!
The BMS Swan Era Wand is great to use during sex. The small head and short handle easily fit into tight spots.
In positions facing your partner, you can get direct contact, and since the vibes are so rumbly, they travel deep into your body, so stimulation is great. Since the head is firm, it can be uncomfortable if it gets pressed against your pubic bone, but the small size makes it easier to keep out of the way.
In doggystyle, the handle is too short to rest on the bed, but it’s so light that I can hold it for a long time without getting tired.
The head moves around more in the spooning position since it’s so small. It’s harder to keep wedged between your legs, but this also means the vibes don’t fatigue your legs as much. The stimulation is still good, but it’s not as consistent in this position as I’ve found with other wands with slightly broader heads like the Romp Presto.
If you want something small for easy maneuverability and versatility during sex, this is a great mini wand.
Noise
The Romp Flip is one of our quietest wands. But it’s so quiet because its vibrations are weak.
The Romp Presto has over 3x the power and is also very discreet. My partner can’t hear its vibrations from the other side of the bedroom door. And even some of the extremely powerful wands like the Viben Sultry remain inaudible behind a closed door.
The BMS Swan Era has mediocre noise levels, particularly because it sometimes rattles.
In our test from behind the closed bedroom door, my partner could not hear the lowest power, but mid-strengths were audible whenever I didn’t have the wand pressed to my body. And high power was always easily audible.
Our decibel recordings on high power are based on the noise level with the rattling sound. You can hear what it sounds like with and without the rattling in the video above, but of course you can’t control that. Sometimes when using the wand it wouldn’t rattle. Other times it’d start rattling after several minutes of use.
Even with a box fan running, my partner could still just barely hear the rattling on high power. Only music would mask the noise.
This means it’s not a good choice if discretion is important. The Romp Presto, another affordable mini wand, was inaudible from the other side of the door in all our tests if you need something quieter.
Attachment Compatibility
The Romp Flip has limited compatibility with attachments.
Its head is about the same size as the Lovense Domi 2. So both the Domi’s attachments fit the Romp Flip as well. These two attachments cover a decent range of stimulation (G-spot, prostate, anal, penis, and clitoral texture). But you have few options beyond that.
If you value a broad range of attachment compatibility, your best options are full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable or Magic Wand Plus among others.
The BMS Swan Era Wand has poor attachment compatibility, but you can still find a few options that work.
A couple of my smaller, or extra stretchy attachments worked well. The PalmPower Rechargeable attachments stayed on with friction, but they don’t snap into place for additional security like they do with their own wand.
Large wand heads have the best attachment compatibility, so the Orion Your New Favorite Wand is a better affordable wand if you prioritize this.
Mount Compatibility
I test my wands with my two wand-compatible mounts from Liberator – the Axis and Wanda.
The Wanda is designed to be straddled. It holds the wand upright at a slight angle. You can sit on the mount and lean in for stimulation. Or you can bend over the top of it.
The Romp Flip fits pretty well in this mount. Though, the low power means it still provides minimal stimulation.
And unfortunately, it does not really work at all with the Axis mount.
The Axis is designed for you to lie across the mount on your stomach. It holds the wand out to the side at a slight upward angle between your legs. But the Romp Flip’s is too small and too weak for it. I don’t get any clit stimulation when it’s held in the Liberator Axis.
If mount use is important to you, it’s best to get a medium-sized wand. And you may have to increase your budget a bit.
One of my favorites to use with a mount is the Dame Com. This wand is a bit more expensive than the Romp Flip, but still below $100. It’s one of the most cost-effective wands that performs really well with mounts.
The BMS Swan Era Wand has very poor compatibility with mounts.
It does not fit in the Wanda Mount at all.
In the Axis, the small head prevents it from making good contact with your body. Some of the vibrations do travel for some stimulation since the vibes are so rumbly, but most people will find this stimulation underwhelming.
The Orion Your New Favorite Wand is a better wand in this price range if you want to enjoy hands-free play with a mount.
Battery Life
The Romp lasts for about 75 minutes continuously running on high power. This is one of the shortest battery lives of the wands we’ve tested. And it’s especially short considering the Romp Flip’s soft vibrations don’t use as much power as stronger wands.
If you can spend about $30 more, the Magic Wand Mini lasts for 3.5 hours on high with substantial power!
The BMS Swan Era Wand is rechargeable but has a shorter battery life than other wands. It lasted for 55 minutes on high power in our test, which could be enough if you charge between uses.
But the Orion Your New Favorite Wand lasts longer on an even higher top strength, so this is a better option if you frequently forget to charge.
Build Quality
This wand feels cheap. I’m currently on my second Romp Flip – the first one stopped vibrating within the first 5 months of testing it. And while I haven’t experienced issues with its replacement, this toy does not feel like it was made to last.
The plastic construction feels especially thin and delicate. And the extremely flexible neck feels flimsy. I’m worried it will break if you apply much pressure – I suspect this is why my first one stopped working.
At a comparable price, the Romp Presto is a much higher-quality wand.
The BMS Swan Era Wand seems to have good build quality.
The all-over silicone provides a sleek, comfortable, and completely sealed feel. The neck has some flex but seems sturdy and not prone to breaking. The button has a nice press-feel, and I like the weight of it – neither too light nor too heavy.
Within the first week or two, the motor started rattling after a few minutes of higher-powered use, which could indicate degradation over time. It hasn’t affected performance so far, but it could be annoying to some.
