Magic Wand Rechargeable vs Doxy Die Cast R Side-By-Side Comparison
Performance Ratings
Our Verdict
The Magic Wand Rechargeable and the Doxy Die Cast R are both powerful, premium, full-sized wands, but the Magic Wand Rechargeable is the better choice for most people. It’s better overall and offers a more versatile power range for a significantly lower price.
The Magic Wand Rechargeable has gentle settings for warming up, which the Doxy Die Cast R completely lacks, and its vibrations are much more rumbly, which many people prefer over buzzy vibrations. The Magic Wand is much quieter than the Doxy Die Cast R, which we could hear behind a closed door on all settings, and its battery life is more than three times longer.
The Doxy Die Cast R is a good choice only if you prioritize a heavy-duty metal build and exclusively need extreme, buzzy power. It has no gentle or moderate settings, starting at an intensity that may be overwhelming for many. Its aluminum handle feels luxurious and provides excellent natural pressure from the increased weight, but it’s very expensive.
Unless the Doxy’s metal construction is a top priority, the Magic Wand Rechargeable delivers a more well-rounded experience for much less money.

Vibrations: Power And Range
Though the Magic Wand Rechargeable has about 85% of the power of its corded version, it’s still one of the strongest wands in my collection, with a top power of 7.67 out of 10.
With four power levels, the lowest setting starts at 1.75 out of 10, providing an enjoyable warm-up without overwhelming. The second level is slightly stronger than my favorite non-wand vibrators, and the third is substantially more powerful – I usually finish on the second setting, but occasionally want the extra oomph of the third level (often over my clothes)!
I can rarely use the top strength because it’s too intense for me but is excellent if you crave immense power. It’s also worth noting that you can use the Magic Wand Rechargeable while it’s plugged in, but doing so does not increase the strength.
Together, these four settings provide a wide range to enjoy. If you typically prefer gentle stimulation, you might consider the Magic Wand Mini instead (the even smaller Magic Wand Micro is more comparable to a bullet vibrator and too weak for those expecting the strength of a wand). But the Rechargeable is best for those who enjoy moderate to extreme strength.
The Doxy Die Cast R has an exceptional top vibration strength, but a poor power range.
It’s tied with the BMS Palmpower Extreme and Magic Wand Waterproof as my most powerful rechargeable wand, and its intensity is second only to the corded Doxy Die Cast. But all the vibrations feel strong or extreme – there are no gentle or moderate starting powers to use as a warmup. If you’re sensitive to overstimulation, you’ll probably need to use another vibrator first or consider a wand with a broader power range, like the PalmPower Extreme and even the corded Doxy Die Cast.
As someone who prefers moderate stimulation, I find the Doxy Die Cast R’s first setting decently comfortable without a prior warmup – but only if I press it very firmly against my body. Doing so slows down the motor and makes it feel less intense. And when I use the Doxy Die Cast R, I never make it past the first setting because I don’t need any more strength.
But it’s excellent for anyone who exclusively needs enormous power. The very first setting with a 7.33 out of 10 strength will meet you at the intensity you want, without having to tap through lower power levels first. And its top strength of 9 out of 10 will be more than enough for the average user. Only the corded Doxy Die Cast is stronger, but it’s hardly a noticeable amount.
Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)
We rate wands with rumbly vibrations higher than those with buzzy vibrations since most people prefer rumbliness. The Magic Wand Rechargeable is one of the most rumbly wands I’ve tested – much rumblier than the Magic Wand Waterproof. While a few wands are more rumbly, they underperform in other aspects.
Three of its four power levels are in the rumbly range, with the first two feeling extremely rumbly! I love these vibrations because they travel deeper into my body without being overwhelming or ticklish, unlike buzzy ones.
Since I typically only use the first three power levels, most of my experiences with the Magic Wand Rechargeable are rumbly. Though if you expect you’ll need the extreme power of the fourth level, the vibrations start to feel more neutral.
Personally, I don’t mind an occasional neutral-feeling vibration. And overall, this wand delivers high-quality rumbly vibrations at an impressive strength.
We rate rumbly wands higher than buzzy wands since most people prefer this. However, it’s up to your personal preference.
The Doxy Die Cast R is a buzzy wand vibrator, so it’s best if you enjoy vibrations that target more at the surface. None of the settings feel rumbly. The gentlest setting has a neutral feel, and everything stronger is moderately to extremely buzzy.
While the corded Doxy Die Cast is comparably buzzy on its upper settings, its lowest two settings are rumbly. So it provides a more versatile experience than the rechargeable. If you want some rumbly settings too, I’d consider the corded Die Cast or the BMS PalmPower Extreme.
One unique aspect I’ve found is that the Doxy Die Cast R’s motor slows down quite a bit if I press the head firmly against my body. By slowing the vibrations down, they approach a more rumbly feeling. I personally enjoy how I can alter the intensity and rumbliness by varying the pressure I apply. If you don’t necessarily need rumbly settings but still enjoy them, you may like experimenting with the Die Cast R’s pressure to find something that feels great to you.
Others will prefer something steadier regardless of the pressure applied. While the corded Doxy Die Cast’s motor is also slightly affected by how hard you press, it’s a much less noticeable effect than with the rechargeable version.
Comfort & Ease of Use
The Magic Wand Rechargeable is a larger wand, so it takes a bit more effort to maneuver or leverage than smaller, lighter toys. But overall, it’s very comfortable and easy to use.
The plush silicone head is softer than other wands, making it comfortable when pressed firmly against your body. And the neck is flexible, but solid so I can apply considerable pressure without worry. The wide head is great for broad, diffuse pressure. And rather than the round head many wands have, this wand’s head is cylindrical, creating a lip at the top that I can use for more direct pressure and focused stimulation.
Vibrations only transfer minimally through the handle, primarily on the lower power levels. But since the vibrations are rumbly, I don’t find it uncomfortable or distracting as I do with buzzy wands like the Doxy 3R. On high strengths, the Magic Wand’s handle does an excellent job of dampening the hand vibrations.
The Rechargeable’s controls differ from the Magic Wand Plus’s, since the cordless version offers vibration patterns. One button cycles through four steady power levels, and a separate button cycles through its four patterns. While I prefer a setup with separate buttons to increase and decrease power, it’s not a big deal since there are only 4 power levels to cycle through.
The button placement is good – I don’t accidentally press the buttons. And it’s easy to feel them, so I can make adjustments without looking or disrupting the stimulation.
And since this wand is rechargeable, you won’t have to deal with cords getting in the way – part of why I use it more than the Magic Wand Plus.
The Doxy Die Cast R is comfortable and easy to use for a heavy, full-sized wand.
This wand’s substantial weight both positively and negatively affects the wand’s comfort. Anytime you use it with the wand’s head pointed down (like on your back), the heavy weight adds excellent natural downward pressure. So you don’t have to leverage the wand with your arm or wrist much. But this also makes it slower to maneuver and can be tiring when you’re holding the wand up – which happens more frequently during sex than solo use.
The large, round head provides a really broad, comfortable surface area in contact with your body. Though it’s trickier to limit contact to a precise area than with a smaller head. The head’s silicone is slightly plush, which feels comfy and luxurious. And the neck has a bit of flexibility, which keeps it comfortable when applying firm pressure.
The handle is a comfortable size to wrap my hand around, and its cast aluminum construction does an excellent job of preventing much vibration in the handle itself – keeping them focused at the head. I typically hold the wand close to the head because the weight distribution is best there. With that grip, my fingers aren’t near the buttons, so I don’t accidentally press them. Though I need to adjust my grip to change the setting, but I don’t find it distracting.
The controls are simple to use and get you to your preferred setting quickly, with separate buttons to increase or decrease the power. You can turn on the pulsing setting by pressing and holding the power button. The two “+” and “-” buttons also allow you to adjust the speed (not intensity) of the pulses.
Use During Sex
The Magic Wand Rechargeable is my favorite full-sized wand to use during sex, and I enjoy it in a wide range of positions.
It’s a long wand with a large head, and it’s on the heavier side – all traits you don’t expect to make a great wand for sex. But the rumbly, powerful vibrations and plush, cylindrical head make it work very well.
With my weaker vibrators, I spend more time precisely positioning the toy and leveraging it to get the pressure just right. But since the Magic Wand Rechargeable is extremely powerful and rumbly, I don’t need to place the head in an exact spot with tons of pressure, so its large head isn’t an issue. Its length also makes it easier to use in positions like Doggystyle where I can rest the base against the bed so my arm doesn’t get tired.
The silicone head’s plushness keeps it comfortable, even in movement-heavy positions like Cowgirl. Whereas firm wands like the Satisfyer Wand-er Woman press uncomfortably into my pubic bone in this position.
The cylindrical head’s lip provides a smaller surface to get the more focused stimulation you could with a small wand too. This lip also fits into tight spaces where a large wand’s full head doesn’t. And in more open positions like Spooning, I can use the flat surface for diffuse, broad stimulation.
Being cordless, you can move around more freely with the Magic Wand Rechargeable too.
The Doxy Die Cast R is good to use during sex.
It’s best in positions where you’re not facing your partner because there’s plenty of space in front of you to maneuver the handle without it bumping into your partner. So you can easily position the Die Cast R wherever you need it.
The broad head keeps the wand in consistent contact with your clit and distributes the pressure evenly so the vibrations travel well. In Spooning and Doggystyle positions, the handle is long enough to rest against the bed to help prop the wand at a good angle. So your arm doesn’t get tired despite the substantial weight.
When you’re facing your partner, you have to get a little more creative with your body’s positioning – possibly leaning back to open up more area for the large head to fit closer to your clit. Thankfully, the vibrations are powerful enough that they are impactful, even if the head is nearby instead directly in contact with your clit. Because the head is so large, it can get pressed into your body with a lot of heavy movement, which can be a bit uncomfortable at times but is not a major issue.
But if face-to-face positions are a priority, a wand with a smaller or angled head, like the BMS PalmPower Extreme, is better.
Noise
The Magic Wand Rechargeable has lower noise levels compared to most other wands with similar power.
For many comparable wands, I can only use the first setting without the vibrations becoming audible. During our tests, my partner couldn’t hear the first two levels from behind a closed bedroom door. And that second power is typically where I finish.
Many will be able to orgasm on these discreet levels. The two extremely powerful top settings were audible in our quiet house, but when I turned on a box fan or played music, my partner couldn’t hear the wand anymore, even on high power. The Rechargeable is also much quieter than the Magic Wand Waterproof – another reason I like the Rechargeable more.
The Rechargeable is a good option if you want strong power and need to remain discreet.
The Doxy Die Cast R is quite loud.
When we tested whether my partner could hear it from behind our closed bedroom door, he heard every setting. Even after I turned on a box fan in the bedroom my partner still heard the Doxy Die Cast R’s top setting – although he noted that then he could only hear it when I moved the wand around, and he said he’d definitely have to actively listen for the sound to notice it.
Playing music in the bedroom successfully prevented him from hearing the wand on any setting.
If you have housemates and/or discretion is important, the Magic Wand Plus is a comparably powerful wand that was inaudible at least on the lowest power setting. And both a fan and music mask the noise.
Attachment Compatibility
Magic Wand is the leading brand of wand vibrators. So most wand attachments are designed to fit its head. This wand, and similarly-sized wands, have the best compatibility with attachments.
You can find a compatible attachment for many kinds of stimulation including G-spot, prostate, anal, penis, clitoral, and dual-stimulation. And you have a variety of each type to choose from. To see which attachments we’ve tested with the Magic Wand Rechargeable, see our wand attachment compatibility table.
The Doxy Die Cast R has fantastic compatibility with wand attachments.
Most attachments are made for full-sized heads like this one. In my collection, I found many that fit, providing a wide variety of stimulation types. You should have no trouble finding plenty of options.

Mount Compatibility
I’ve tested the Magic Wand Rechargeable with both the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts for hands-free play, and it performs well with each.
The Axis positions the wand at a slight upward angle from horizontal. When lying on your stomach on the Axis, the side of the wand’s head rests on your clit.
The wand’s tall, broad head provides plenty of surface area for easy clitoral contact without needing to be deliberate about positioning my body as I do with small wands. The plush texture of the head makes it comfortable to press against, and the full-sized handle keeps it secured in the mount.
With the Wanda mount, the Magic Wand Rechargeable is held upright at a slight tilt. Shorter wands enable you to fully lower your weight onto the mount and rock back and forth to vary stimulation. But due to its full-sized design, this wand’s head sits too high for that.
Instead, it’s best to rest on your hands and knees. In this Doggystyle position, the wand’s head aligns well with my clit. Or you can straddle the mount on your knees, but you’ll need to keep your body elevated. In either position, the Magic Wand Rechargeable’s broad, plush head maintains good contact with my clit and provides excellent stimulation.
We test our wands for hands-free stimulation using the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts.
The Doxy Die Cast R works wonderfully with both mounts.
In the Liberator Axis, the large, round head provides plenty of surface area to press against comfortably. At 2.5 inches, its head is wider than most, which helps it reach your clit more easily than most straight wands. The strong vibrations travel well to provide great stimulation hands-free. The handle stays securely wedged in the mount.
In the Liberator Wanda, you can kneel above the mount for hands-free stimulation solo or with penetration from behind. The head sticks up quite a bit past the fabric, so you can’t sit directly on the mount as you can with some short wand vibrators. But it provides excellent stimulation when kneeling over it. The broad, tall head is great at distributing pressure evenly so you can comfortably lean against it.
Battery Life
The Magic Wand Rechargeable has one of the longest battery lives of any rechargeable wand I’ve tested. It lasted over 4 hours continuously running on its maximum power during our tests.
This is ideal for someone like me, who forgets to charge their wand between uses. Even better, you can use the Magic Wand Rechargeable while it’s plugged in, so you never have to wait for its battery to charge. Note, this feature is not possible with the Magic Wand Waterproof. Only a couple other wands, like the Maia Nala and Le Wand Rechargeable, have this feature, but the Magic Wand Rechargeable is better overall than these wands.
The Doxy Die Cast R is rechargeable and has a decent battery life, lasting for 75 minutes on its highest power in our test. Considering this wand’s enormous strength, that’s a reasonable battery life.
There is an automatic shutoff after 20 minutes of continuous use, but you can turn it back on immediately. You cannot use the Doxy Die Cast R while it’s charging (very few wands allow that – the Magic Wand Rechargeable is one that does).
Build Quality
The Magic Wand Rechargeable is well-built and feels sturdy. I can apply firm pressure without feeling like I may damage the wand’s neck. Its head is a plush silicone which makes it very comfortable and body-safe: it is non-porous and can be completely sanitized. The older model (the Magic Wand Original) had a porous vinyl head which can harbor bacteria – this is one of many reasons I recommend the Magic Wand Rechargeable and Plus over the Magic Wand Original.
The handle is a solid plastic and the buttons are well-placed and made of a comfortable, grippy silicone. All around, a quality toy.
The Doxy Die Cast R has great build quality.
The cast aluminum handle feels very sturdy, and the slightly flexible neck feels strong, so I’m not afraid to apply pressure. The silicone head is slightly plush, which feels comfortable and high-quality. It feels well-made and luxurious.
The motor does have a slight waver at times, where it will dip or raise by 1 or 2 Hz. I can hear the waver (listen below), but it doesn’t impact my experience – I can’t feel this slight difference.
I want to note that when we purchased the Doxy Die Cast R, the first one we received arrived with a defect. It would shut off randomly despite having a full charge, and the power would dip substantially. These issues were noticeable immediately upon using the toy (not something that developed over time). We believe something likely happened during shipping.
We contacted Doxy support right away, and they replaced it quickly. We had to send a video showing and explaining our issue and then cut the charging cable. They sent a new product within 3 business days of our initial email. And our new product has worked great.
Our rating for build quality is based on the undamaged wand we received. Doxy also has a 2-year warranty when you register your wand for free on their site.
General Design And Specs
The Magic Wand Rechargeable does not have a waterproof rating, and should only be cleaned with a damp cloth, taking care not to expose electronic components to water. There is a Waterproof version of the Magic Wand if that’s a priority for you. However, the Magic Wand Waterproof underperforms in some areas – it’s much louder and buzzier, at a much higher price. If waterproof play is not a top priority, the Magic Wand Rechargeable is a better fit for most.
The Doxy Die Cast R has no waterproof rating, but you can remove the silicone head to clean it easily. Fully dry it before putting it back on the wand.
