Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 7.0 6.4
Power Range Rating 6.5 6.9
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Magic Wand Mini is a great moderately-powered wand at an affordable price. Its top power is stronger than all my favorite non-wand vibrators like the Lovense Hyphy, Lelo Mona 2, and We-Vibe Nova 2.

Even the Magic Wand Mini’s lowest power is enough for me to orgasm. And with its second and third levels, it offers plenty of range for me.

If you’re comparing it to the full-sized Magic Wands, the Mini is about 70% as strong as the Magic Wand Rechargeable. And it’s about 55% as strong as the plug-in Magic Wand Plus and cordless Magic Wand Waterproof. So those may be good options if you’re looking for the enormous power some people enjoy from a wand.

Magic Wand Mini with the Magic Wand Rechargeable Magic Wand Plus and Magic Wand Waterproof
The Magic Wand Mini (far left) is 70% as strong as the Magic Wand Rechargeable (middle left) and 55% as strong as the Plus (middle right) and Waterproof (far right).

But unless you’re a power-queen or king you’ll likely enjoy the Magic Wand Mini’s power range. For instance, even when I use the Rechargeable and Plus I rarely go past their second power levels (which are comparable to the Mini’s strength). The full-sized versions’ upper levels usually feel overwhelming to me.

So the Magic Wand Mini is a great option for people who enjoy strong vibrators, but don’t need the ultra-powerful settings of large wands. Personally, the Mini is one of the wands I use most often!

Magic Wand Micro and Magic Wand Mini
The Magic Wand Mini (right) is stronger and bigger than the Magic Wand Micro (left), which performs more like a bullet vibrator.

It’s also much stronger than the tiny Magic Wand Micro (which is more like a bullet vibrator than a true wand). The Micro’s highest strength is comparable to the Magic Wand Mini’s lowest setting.

Note that you cannot directly compare our graphs of the Magic Wand Micro’s and Mini’s vibration power because we rate their strength on different scales. We rate the Micro compared to other bullet and mini vibrators, since it’s more similar to those. The Mini is rated in comparison to wand vibrators which are much more powerful than bullets.

The Doxy Go has a very limited power range with only mild settings. It reaches a 3.75 out of 10 strength on high (on a scale compared to wand vibrators). Its power is more similar to my strongest bullet vibrators. In fact, its top strength feels about the same as the highest setting of the Doxy bullet (which I rate a 10 out of 10 strength compared to other bullets).

It’s enough strength for me, and could work if you don’t need the enormous intensity wands are famous for – many people don’t. The gradual power settings in this gentle range are helpful if you’re easily overstimulated.

But if you expect a typical wand’s immense power, this will be disappointing. For a similar price, the Magic Wand Plus offers more than double the power and a much wider range of intensity. Or if you still want a mini wand, the Magic Wand Mini is another stronger option in this price range.

All Doxy Wands From Strongest to Weakest
Doxy Wands lined up from strongest to weakest. From left to right: Doxy Die Cast, Die Cast R, Original, Die Cast 3R, Die Cast 3, Doxy 3 USB-C, and Doxy Go.

Compared to other Doxy wands, this is the weakest. Most of them even start at nearly double the strength.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 7.1 5.0
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 52 Hz 52 Hz
Median Frequency 68 Hz 85 Hz
Frequency on High Power 80 Hz 103 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 6.0 3.5

When scoring vibration frequency (how rumbly or buzzy a vibrator is), we rate rumbly wands higher because more people tend to prefer low-frequency (rumbly) vibrations. But this is more of a personal preference, so a higher score doesn’t necessarily imply that a wand is better for you.

Keep in mind your preferences.

The Magic Wand Mini’s rumbliness lands in the middle of the pack. The first two power levels are extremely rumbly and moderately rumbly. Then the highest power level feels more neutral – neither buzzy nor rumbly.

This is a pretty typical vibration profile – as a wand’s power increases, it always becomes less rumbly. I personally enjoy the Magic Wand Mini’s frequency range because it gives me options. And I can orgasm on any of its power levels, so I can select a more rumbly or more neutral vibration frequency depending on what I want at the moment.

Magic Wand Mini with the Magic Wand Rechargeable Lovense Domi 2 and Orion Grande
The Magic Wand Mini with more rumbly alternatives. From left to right: Magic Wand Mini, Magic Wand Rechargeable, Lovense Domi 2, and Orion Grande.

If you always prefer more rumbly vibrations, the Lovense Domi and full-sized Magic Wand Rechargeable  have deeper vibrations. If you’re on a budget, the Orion Grande Wand is one of the most rumbly, but lacks gentle warmup levels.

If you’re like me and enjoy a range of rumbliness, then the Magic Wand Mini is a great option!

We rate rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because most people prefer them. However, this is an area of personal preference, so pick what you like best.

The Doxy Go only has rumbly vibrations on the two lowest settings. The medium and high strengths (which you’ll likely use more) feel neutral or buzzy. The rumbly start provides a comfortable intro. And since I enjoy buzzy vibrations, I like the zingy feel of the higher top settings too.

But if you want deeper, rumbly vibrations that reach moderate strength, the Magic Wand Mini is a great alternative.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating 9.4 8.7
Magic Wand Mini Comfort And Ease of Use
Doxy Go Comfort And Ease of Use
Handle Comfort 9.0 7.0
Head Comfort 10.0 9.0
Easy Positioning & Pressure 9.5 9.0
Controls 10.0 9.5
Easy Cleaning 5.0 10.0
Waterproof Rating No Rating IPX7

The Magic Wand Mini is one of the most comfortable and easy-to-use wands!

Its only downside is that it’s not waterproof, so it takes an extra bit of care when cleaning the Mini. If that’s a priority to you, consider a waterproof wand like the Romp Presto. But I still find the Magic Wand Mini easy to clean.

During use – the handle, head shape & texture, size, and controls all make the Magic Wand Mini wonderfully comfortable and maneuverable.

The controls are some of my favorites on any wand. The buttons are easy to press without having to adjust my grip during use. And you can move up and down through power levels. This simple difference is a drastic improvement over toys that make you cycle through power levels with a single button.

The handle is very easy and comfortable to keep a tight grip on and make adjustments for better stimulation. The head is a plush, cylindrical shape, which is comfortable to press against my body.

Magic Wand Mini Head Allows Broad or Focused Stimulation
Use the side of the Magic Wand Mini’s head for more broad stimulation, or the top edges for more focused stimulation

And I can comfortably leverage the Magic Wand Mini to press the vibes more or less firmly against my body.

The cylindrical shape of the head also allows you to vary how much of the head is pressing against you. Use the side of the head for broader, more even pressure. Or use the “edge” of the cylinder shape for more focused pressure and stimulation.

The variety of stimulation you can get from the Magic Wand Mini’s head is one of my favorite aspects.

The Doxy Go is very comfortable and easy to use.

The firm head is small, so it’s easy to limit contact to only the spots where you want pressure. The flexible neck keeps the head from bumping uncomfortably against you – though it doesn’t provide as firm of pressure as more rigid wands. The smooth silicone head feels luxurious, with no distracting seams.

The small size and lighter weight make it easy to move around quickly. At only 6.31 inches long, it’s shorter than typical wands requiring a further reach. But the handle still has enough length to grip and leverage easily. Plus, it’s longer than most bullet vibrators (typically 3.5-5 inches long), with a distinct handle, so it’s easier to use than most mini vibrators.

Doxy Die Cast with Doxy Go and We-Vibe Tango X
The Doxy Go (middle) length compared to a full-sized wand, the Doxy Die Cast (left) and a bullet vibrator, the We-Vibe Tango X (right)

You can feel some minor vibrations in the handle, but they’re only distracting if you’re especially sensitive to this (if so, the Magic Wand Mini does a better job of dampening hand vibes).

The controls allow you to increase and decrease power, which is very convenient. You can even adjust the strength of each pattern. Button placement is excellent for minimal hand-adjustment, without inhibiting your grip. It’s also waterproof, so cleaning is easy.

It’s a great choice if you value a comfortable mini wand with excellent controls!

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 9.5 8.4

Doxy Go Fit in Tight Space
Spooning 9.0 7.5
Doggystyle 9.0 9.0
Modified Missionary 10.0 9.0
Cowgirl 10.0 8.0

The Magic Wand Mini is also one of my favorite wand vibrators to use during sex.

I give it a perfect score in both Modified Missionary and Cowgirl positions. The handle length is ideal, and the plush head keeps consistent, comfortable contact with my clit even during heavy movement.

Especially in positions with more limited space like Missionary and Cowgirl, the Magic Wand Mini’s squishy head is a huge plus. I find firm heads can sometimes bump against my clit uncomfortably in these positions, but the Mini’s plush head remains comfortable.

Plush Head of Magic Wand Mini
The plush head of the Magic Wand Mini

Not to mention how easy it is to adjust the intensity of the vibrations.

I also enjoy it during from-behind positions like Spooning and Doggystyle. The wand is very easy to maneuver in these positions. It’s light enough that holding it up in Doggystyle doesn’t get too tiring. And its head is a good size to fit easily between my legs.

The Doxy Go is a great wand to use during sex.

Its small size is easy to fit into tight spots, which is especially helpful in positions facing each other. The smaller head provides precise contact, which you can limit to a particular area.

The short handle won’t bump against your partner. Though in positions facing away from your partner, some may prefer a longer handle so you don’t have to reach as far. Thankfully, it’s light and easy to move around, which is helpful in doggystyle and positions where you’re holding the wand up, so your arm doesn’t tire.

The Magic Wand Mini is somewhat quiet, but the sound levels are a little disappointing considering it only reaches moderate strength.

I use each wand in the bedroom while my partner listens directly on the other side of our closed bedroom door. He cannot hear the Magic Wand Mini on the first two settings, but he can on the top strength.

When we initially tested this toy, he was unable to hear it on any setting, but in our most recent re-test, it was louder. We’re unsure whether the wand got louder over time. If you need something quieter, the We-Vibe Wand 2 is even stronger, but remains inaudible on all settings.

The Doxy Go has good noise levels. In our test, the actual decibel measurements were lower than most of my wands.

My partner couldn’t hear the low or medium settings from behind a closed bedroom door. He could barely hear the highest setting because the vibrations are somewhat high-pitched. But he thinks most people won’t be able to notice it – keep in mind, during our testing he stands right on the other side of our door and tries to hear the wand.

Doxy Go and Viben Sultry
The Doxy Go (left) with a stronger, but still quiet alternative, the Viben Sultry (right).

If you need something discreet, this could work. But there are stronger wands with similarly discreet noise levels, like the Viben Sultry.

Attachment Compatibility

Attachment Compatibility Rating 7.3 3.3
Magic Wand Mini Compatible Wand Attachments
Doxy Go Compatible Wand Attachments
Number of Attachments Rating 4.6 1.7
Stimulation Variety 10.0 5.0

The Magic Wand Mini has average attachment compatibility.

The Magic Wand Mini’s head is too small to fit the attachments designed for full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable and Magic Wand Plus. But there are some brands that make attachments for mid-sized wands.

All the attachments designed for the Le Wand Petite also fit the Magic Wand Mini. These cover a broad range of stimulation options: G-spot, anal, and prostate stimulation. And they make textured caps to change how the clit stimulation feels.

Both Lovense Domi attachments also fit the Magic Wand Mini – these also provide internal stimulation and texture. And the male attachment has a penis stimulator too.

The Wand Essential Vibra Cup Penis Masturbator also fits the Magic Wand Mini (Note – this attachment is made from a porous material).

So overall you can find pretty much any kind of stimulation you want to achieve from an attachment. You just have fewer total choices than you would with a full-sized wand.

The Doxy Go has poor attachment compatibility. Only two of my attachments fit it.

Most attachments are designed for larger wand heads. So, if you want something to fit a variety of attachments, the Magic Wand Plus is better. The Magic Wand Mini also fits a variety of mid-sized attachments.

Compatibility with Wanda 7.5 0.0

I test my wands with Liberator’s wand mounts for hands-free play: the Axis and Wanda.

The Magic Wand Mini is useable with both mounts. But it performs better with the Wanda mount. While straddling the Wanda, you can rock back and forth to vary the pressure and vibrations you get fairly easily.

With the Liberator Axis Mount, you lay across it on your stomach. It holds your wand and angles it upward between your legs – I especially use this mount for hands-free stimulation during penetration from behind. With this setup, the Magic Wand Mini can provide some vibrations, but not as much pressure as I normally like.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

Since the Magic Wand Mini lacks an upward curve and has a relatively small head, I don’t get as much clitoral contact as I’d like when using it with the Axis, but it still works okay.

If mount-use is a big priority, I would recommend something with a curved handle or angled head like BMS PalmPower Extreme. This one will give you more firm pressure and better clitoral contact. And it has overall stronger power!

But if mount compatibility is just a fun bonus feature to you… Or if you don’t usually like firm pressure – then the Magic Wand Mini is a great option. Especially at the lower price point!

We test our wands’ mount compatibility with the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts. The Doxy Go has poor compatibility with both.

The Doxy Go is too small to fit into the Wanda at all, and it’s really not worth using in the Axis. The Axis holds the Doxy Go tilted slightly upward while you lie across on your stomach. However, it’s so small that it doesn’t make good, consistent contact with your clit. So the vibes are minimal.

In this price range, the Magic Wand Plus or Magic Wand Mini work better with both mounts. For firmer pressure and broader contact, choose the Plus. For milder pressure and more precise contact, go with the Magic Wand Mini.

Battery Life on High Power 210 Minutes 75 Minutes

The Magic Wand Mini has excellent battery life. It’s one of the longest-lasting wand vibrators.

In our testing, it lasted 3.5 hours running continuously on its highest power! And you can extend that time longer if you also use the lower power levels.

This is a great option for someone like me, who forgets to charge between uses.

The Doxy Go is rechargeable and has an average battery life, lasting 75 minutes on high. Since it only reaches mild strengths, this isn’t especially impressive.

Options like the Magic Wand Mini are stronger and last longer (210 minutes in our test), which is helpful if you often forget to charge between uses.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 9.5 9.0

The Magic Wands’ silicone heads achieve a perfect balance between plushness and solid construction, and this applies to their Mini wand too! Everything feels well constructed, including the sleek plastic handle and soft silicone buttons.

The Doxy Go has excellent build quality. The weighted metal handle feels luxurious, even though it’s small.

The silicone head and buttons have a nice feel, and the flexible neck seems sturdy enough to withstand pressure without breaking.
