Lovehoney Mantric vs Doxy 3 USB-C Side-By-Side Comparison
Performance Ratings
Our Verdict
The Lovehoney Mantric is a mid-budget wand with reasonable performance for its price. It doesn’t have the overwhelming strength or exceptional rumbliness some other wands have. But the power is still a touch stronger than my other non-wand vibrators. So if you prefer mid-powered vibrations, not too far on the rumbly side, it’s a good option.
The Mantric Wand’s slimmer, curved profile makes it very easy to use solo or during partnered sex. It’s one of the quietest wand vibrators we tested. And it works well with wand mounts for hands-free play due to its curved shape.
If you prefer more rumbly vibrations, for a similar price you can get the Magic Wand Mini or Dame Com which are comparable to the Mantric in power, but are both more rumbly. Or if you enjoy wands for their extreme power, the Magic Wand Plus is also comparably priced and much stronger.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is the affordable version of their Doxy Die Cast 3 line, with a plastic handle instead of metal. While the pricier Le Wand Dive is my pick for best buzzy wand, the Doxy is a more budget-friendly alternative if you’re willing to trade off cord-free, waterproof play.
It’s about half the cost of the similar Doxy Die Cast 3 and Die Cast 3R. And I enjoy this USB-C version more. I find the pricier Die Cast models too powerful for how buzzy they are, so their vibrations feel overstimulating to me. While still strong, the Doxy 3 USB-C’s vibrations are slightly milder, which keeps the vibes comfortable and makes their buzzy quality enjoyable. Plus, the lighter ABS Plastic handle is easier to maneuver.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is somewhat noisy, lacks truly gentle or moderate intensity levels, and is not for those who prefer rumbly vibrations – consider the Lovense Domi 2 or Magic Wand Plus if that’s you. But it’s my favorite of Doxy’s compact line of vibrators. It’s an excellent option if you want strong, buzzy vibrations that don’t feel too extreme or overwhelming.

Vibrations: Power And Range
The Lovehoney Mantric is best if you like the size, shape, and broad stimulation that wand vibrators provide, but you prefer mild to moderate vibration strength.
It starts out gentle and gradually builds power. The 5 intensity levels are enough that there are no large leaps and it covers a good range with both low and moderate power levels.
Though the Mantric wand’s full strength is less than half the power of my strongest wand vibrator (the Doxy Die Cast), it’s still more powerful than my non-wand vibrators like bullets, rabbits, and G-spot vibes.
I still orgasm easily with the Mantric wand.
It’s just not engulfing me with sheer power as full-sized wand vibrators do. It fills a unique niche of having comparable power to smaller vibrators while providing a longer handle for easier maneuvering and a broader head to spread the vibrations.
So if you enjoy mid-strength and want broader stimulation, the Mantric can be a good choice.
If you enjoy wands for their extreme power, the larger Magic Wand Plus has exceptional strength in a similar price range. Or for intense power in a compact size, the Lovense Domi 2 is one of my favorites.
The Doxy 3 USB-C has a great top strength but a poor power range. It’s best if you prioritize strong, but not overwhelming power and don’t need gentle starting settings.
The max power of 7 out of 10 is stronger than all my non-wand vibrators. It’s more than I need, but I can still use this setting somewhat comfortably. It’s not too strong for me like other Doxy wands’ top settings.
The lack of soft and moderate settings may be problematic for some – this wand starts out strong at a 6 out of 10 intensity. If you need a gentle warmup, the Magic Wand Plus is a better option in this price range.
But I personally find the Doxy 3 USB-C’s starting level comfortable. It’s a slightly softer start than the Doxy Die Cast 3 or 3R provide, which makes a huge difference for me! I have to warm up with another toy before using the Die Cast 3 or 3R. But that slight difference in power makes the Doxy 3 USB-C comfortable to me – even without using another toy to warm up. Part of this may also be due to the frequency.
Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)
A higher performance score in this category reflects a “more rumbly” wand – not necessarily a better or worse wand vibrator.
We rate more rumbly wands higher because a rumbly feel is what most people enjoy. However, the choice between buzzy or rumbly vibrations is a personal preference. And I actually really love a buzzy vibe from time to time.
The Mantric’s first two power levels are extremely rumbly. Then the next level is moderately rumbly. And its two highest powers are neutral – or a mix between rumbly and buzzy.
If you prefer deep rumbly vibrations, then the Mantric wand is probably not the best option for you. Since this is a mid-powered wand, you’ll likely use its highest powers often. And you won’t get that low-frequency, rumbly feel from its top levels.
The Lovense Domi is a similarly-sized wand that is much more rumbly (and stronger too). 90% of the Domi’s intensity levels fall within the “extremely rumbly” range.
If you prefer toys with a mixed feel – not too far on either the rumbly or buzzy side – you’ll enjoy the Mantric wand vibrator.
We rate rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because it’s what most people prefer, but ultimately it’s just that – a preference.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is a buzzy wand vibrator, which I personally enjoy. But if you want rumbly settings, the Magic Wand Plus or Lovense Domi 2 are better options in this price range for you.
The Doxy 3 USB-C provides some of the highest-frequency vibrations of all my wands. It begins at 91 Hz, which is moderately buzzy, and finishes extremely buzzy at 127 Hz. These high-frequency vibrations remain more concentrated near the spot you’re pressing the wand than rumbly vibrations, helping you target a specific spot really well. But the vibrations don’t reach as far as rumbly vibes do.
I think the Doxy 3 USB-C’s combination of buzziness and power is just right for someone like me who enjoys buzzy vibes. The pricier Die Cast 3 and 3R are slightly more powerful and a bit less buzzy. As a result of their additional power, their vibrations feel overwhelming to me, and their slightly lower frequency vibrations are fatiguing when the head touches near my leg. But the Doxy 3 USB-C’s vibrations remain where I want them, and are at a comfortable intensity.
I also like leveraging my vibrators for extra firm pressure, and this is more comfortable to do with the USB-C’s buzzy vibrations because high-frequency vibrations don’t cause the wand to bump against my pubic bone (which can cause soreness) as some rumbly vibrators can.
As a fan of buzzy vibrations, I like this wand.
Comfort & Ease of Use
The Mantric wand vibrator is one of the most comfortable and easy-to-use wands I own.
The slim handle is very comfortable to hold. And the gentle curve helps you easily leverage the wand to press the vibes firmly to your body.
The head has a smaller circumference, which is great for more direct/focused stimulation than you can get with larger wands. But you can still press the side of the Mantric’s head to your body for broader vibrations.
The head is not squishy, but the neck has a slight flex to it, which makes it very comfortable without making it more difficult to apply pressure.
The main reason it does not score even higher is that I don’t love the Mantric’s buttons.
To achieve a more sleek look, the three buttons are gently raised bumps along the silicone handle, almost blending in with the wand. I find this design makes it more difficult to press the buttons without looking, and I occasionally press them accidentally if I’m not conscious of my grip on the wand.
More importantly, the middle button is not always responsive if I don’t apply the right pressure. Though once you get used to the feel, it’s not much of an issue.
If you want no distractions or a learning curve, I find the Magic Wand Mini is another comfortable alternative with a similar size and weight. But the buttons are a little easier to feel, and I don’t find myself pressing them by accident.
But the Magic Wand Mini is not waterproof or splashproof. So if that’s your goal, try the FemmeFun Ultra Wand or stick with the Mantric!
The Mantric wand is waterproof, so it’s easy to clean. And this also means you can take it into the tub or shower with you.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is very comfortable and easy to use.
It’s a light wand with a small head, making it easy to maneuver and great for more precise stimulation. The neck is rigid, so if you’re worried about a stiff wand bumping against your pubic bone uncomfortably, you may want something with more flexibility or a plush head like the Magic Wand Plus‘s. But the small head allows me to limit contact to softer areas of my body so it stays comfortable to me.
I tend to press it at around a 45-degree angle against my body, so the rounded portion of the Doxy 3 USB-C’s head is what contacts my vulva, and this is very comfortable. However, the sudden edge where the head ends could be uncomfortable if you typically angle your wand more sharply, pressing the side of the head against you. In this case, a more rounded head like the Lovense Domi’s (rumbly) or Le Wand Dive’s (buzzy) may be more comfortable.
The slim handle is comfortable to wrap your hand around, and the controls are excellent – allowing you to increase and decrease power separately. There are 8 steady vibration powers or a pulsing pattern if you press and hold the power button.
Until you become familiar with your grip on the wand, it can be easy to accidentally press one of the buttons since they take up a lot of space on the handle. But that’s become rare as I’ve used the wand more.
The vibrations in the handle are much less than the Die Cast 3R and 3. I can feel them when I’m just holding the wand, but I don’t find them distracting while using the Doxy 3 USB-C as I did with the Die Cast models. These other Doxy wands’ vibrations also feel more fatiguing – particularly in my leg. This is not the case with the Doxy 3 USB-C, so I enjoy using this wand much more than these older, more expensive versions.
Use During Sex
This wand is pretty convenient to use during sex. The smaller size and curved handle make it more easily maneuverable than larger wands.
I especially enjoy the Mantric in the spooning position. With the curved handle and open space spooning provides, I can easily leverage the Mantric and press the vibes to my vulva with excellent pressure.
And it works well in a modified missionary and cowgirl position too. The smaller circumference, but the reasonably tall height of the Mantric’s head allow you to fit the wand in tighter spaces and adjust how much surface area is in contact with your body. A definite advantage over big, full-sized wands like the Doxy Die Cast.
The only position I actually prefer a bigger wand than the Mantric is in Doggystyle. The main issue in this position is that you have to hold the toy up, and gravity is working against you. So I find taller wand vibrators are less tiring because I can rest the base of the handle on the bed to prop it up.
Even so, the Mantric is lightweight enough that it’s reasonably easy to use in Doggystyle – I still rated it a 7.5.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is a good wand to use during sex!
I enjoy it most in the spooning or modified missionary positions. The small head fits easily into tight spaces, and the lightweight handle is easy to maneuver. So you can quickly make adjustments and keep the head in consistent contact with your body.
The cord does not get in the way in these positions since it’s resting on the bed, so there are minimal distractions.
I’ve noticed the cord pulls on the vibrator more often in the doggystyle and cowgirl positions since the cord is suspended in the air and the handle is so light. But you can still get great stimulation once you figure out how to position the cord.
Since the head is firm, it can be mildly uncomfortable if it gets pressed into your pubic bone during tight sex positions. It’s not as cushioned as plush heads like the Magic Wands‘. But since the head is small, this doesn’t happen frequently like it can with larger heads.
In doggystyle, the handle is long enough to rest against the bed if you want to support its weight. But the hand vibrations in the handle become more noticeable if you do this. The light weight makes it easy enough to hold up and leverage in this position anyway, even for longer periods. And this method provides the best stimulation.
Noise
If you live with other people and need a quiet wand, the Mantric is an excellent choice. It’s one of the absolute quietest wand vibrators we tested even with its moderate power.
When we measured its noise with a sound level meter, it was one of the quietest wands on both low and high power.
We also test whether my partner can hear the wand on the other side of our closed bedroom door. And he could not hear the Mantric wand on any of its power levels.
Whether loud sounds distract you or you live with others and need to remain discreet, the Mantric is an extremely quiet wand vibrator.
If you value discretion but prefer the stronger vibrations of larger wand vibrators, the Viben Sultry can also be a good choice. It has excellent power and my partner could not hear it behind a closed door either.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is noisy, which is not surprising considering its strength.
When we tested its audibility in a silent house, my partner could just barely hear it from the other side of our closed bedroom door on the low and middle strengths. But it was definitely audible to him on high power.
From inside the room, I don’t find the sound of the vibrations distracting. The pricier metal versions have a really grating sound to them which I find incredibly distracting (listen below). But the Doxy 3 USB-C’s vibrations sound much cleaner, quieter, and don’t bother me at all (listen above).
If you have housemates and need to be discreet, the Doxy 3 USB-C’s noise is easily drowned out by a box fan or music in the bedroom. Otherwise, the Le Wand Dive is quieter, and my favorite buzzy wand.
Attachment Compatibility
This Mantric wand has some compatibility with attachments, though much less than full-sized wand vibrators since most attachments are designed for large wands.
Of the 25 attachments I own, only 3 fit the Lovehoney Mantric wand: the Wand Essentials – Vibra Cup Penis Masturbator, Domi Male Attachment, and Domi Female Attachment.
However, these three attachments cover a broad range of stimulation. The Domi attachments alone can be used internally for G-spot or anal stimulation, to change the texture of clit stimulation, or for penis stimulation.
So your choices between attachments are more limited. But the compatible attachments still cover a decent variety.
If you value compatibility with a wide range of attachments, a full-sized wand would be best. The Magic Wand Plus, Magic Wand Rechargeable, and Doxy Die Cast all have excellent compatibility with attachments and perform well in other aspects too.
The Doxy 3 USB-C has great compatibility with attachments. Doxy has their own line of attachments, which screw right onto the head. Several non-Doxy attachments also fit over the head, including the Le Wand Petite attachments.
You can find attachments offering a wide variety of stimulation that are compatible with this wand, even though it has a smaller head. For more specifics, you can check our wand attachment compatibility table here.
Mount Compatibility
I found the Mantric Wand very compatible with wand mounts for hands-free play. In fact, I rated it the second highest of all my wand vibrators! Outranked only by one of my personal favorites – the BMS PalmPower Extreme Ultrapowerful.
I use two different mounts – Liberator’s Axis and Wanda. The Axis is geared more toward couples’ play. And the Wanda is my favorite for solo play. Though both mounts can be used alone or with a partner.
The Mantric Wand is the perfect height for the Wanda – the Mantric’s head rests in the perfect position just outside the mount. And I can vary the stimulation by facing the Mantric’s curve toward the front or back of the mount.
I can also straddle the Mantric in the Wanda Mount with plenty of space for my partner to kneel behind me during sex.
The Mantric wand works great with the Axis mount too. It fits securely in the Axis’ wand slot. And the Mantric’s curve makes it hit my clit easily while lying on top of the Axis mount.
The only wand I enjoy more in the Axis is the BMS PalmPower Extreme. This one also has a curve, but the head is larger. The bigger head allows me to get even more firm pressure. It’s also more powerful if you enjoy extreme vibration strength.
I test my wands with the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts for hands-free stimulation.
The Doxy 3 USB-C does not work well with the Axis but is excellent with the Wanda mount.
In the Axis, the head is too small to stimulate well, and it’s not angled upward enough, so it’s difficult to get good pressure on your clit. Wands with a larger head like the Magic Wand Plus or angled head like the BMS PalmPower Extreme, work better in the Liberator Axis.
In the Liberator Wanda, the Doxy 3 USB-C is positioned at a great height to kneel above during penetration from behind. It provides excellent, comfortable contact so you can enjoy the vibes hands-free.
You can also sit down on the mount for hands-free stimulation. This position is only possible with handles that aren’t too long, like the Doxy 3 USB-C’s, and it’s a great setup for solo hands-free fun.
Battery Life & Power Source
The Mantric Wand has a higher-than-average battery life.
Running continuously on its highest power, it lasted over 2 hours in our testing. And in practical use, you can stretch this out longer by also using some of the lower and middle power levels during your play.
If you expect you’ll need more than 2 hours (or if you’re like me and love to fit several play-sessions between charges), then you may consider the Magic Wand Rechargeable, which lasts over 4 hours!
And of course, plug-in wands like the Magic Wand Plus and Doxy Die Cast never need to be charged.
The Doxy 3 USB-C is a plug-in wand with a 9.5-foot cord. You don’t have to worry about keeping this wand charged, but you do have to be near an outlet to play, so it’s not as mobile-friendly as rechargeable wands.
The USB-C cable is not as common as a typical USB. If you don’t already have a USB-C to wall outlet adapter, you’ll need to purchase a 5V/3A USB-C plug adapter to use this wand.
Build Quality
This wand feels sturdy and the silicone is high-quality. So it feels nice in the hand and I’m not worried about it breaking with firm pressure. I do find that the power button can sometimes not be responsive though, and I have to press several times to get it to work.
The Doxy 3 USB-C has good build quality.
The lightweight ABS Plastic handle is not as luxurious-feeling as metal or silicone-coated wands. But it still feels solid and well-built. And the threaded part of the removable head is still made of metal for durability.
The cord attaches securely and has a knitted coating for protection. The buttons can be a little unresponsive sometimes if you don’t push them firmly, but it just takes some getting used to.
Doxy also has a 2-year warranty when you register your wand for free on their site.
