Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 6.8 9.5
Power Range Rating 7.0 8.5
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Le Wand Petite’s top vibration strength is below half the power of my strongest wands. It’s still enough for me to orgasm with. But its overall strength is closer to my non-wand vibrators, like the Lelo Mona, than it is to my large wands.

This isn’t necessarily bad – many people will be happy with this level of power. I rarely use the upper settings on my strongest wands anyway. But for the price of the Le Wand Petite, I’d expect more power.

For example, the Magic Wand Mini has a touch more vibration power, and is around $50 cheaper. And Magic Wand is the most respected brand for wand vibrators.

Le Wand Petite with Stronger Wands
Less expensive wands that can achieve higher power than the Le Wand Petite (far left). Alternatives left to right: Magic Wand Mini, BMS PalmPower Extreme, and Magic Wand Plus

Or if you’re looking for immense power, the BMS PalmPower Extreme and Magic Wand Plus are twice as strong as the Le Wand Petite – and each is less expensive.

Something I like about the Le Wand Petite is that it offers both soft, lower levels and stronger, upper levels with small increments in between. Its low levels are comfortably gentle, and there are 10 intensity levels before you reach its maximum power. So you can enjoy light stimulation when you need softer vibrations and gradually increase strength.

But overall, the vibration power and range is simply mediocre for how expensive the wand is. This has been my experience with Le Wand’s products generally. I also tested the Le Wand Baton and Le Wand Grand bullet vibrators, and found them to be underpowered for their price too.

The Magic Wand Plus is my second-most powerful wand, reaching a 9 out of 10 on its top level. Only the Doxy Die Cast reaches a higher strength than the Magic Wand Plus. But the Doxy is more than double the cost, and it’s buzzier.

Priced under $100, the Magic Wand Plus is the most budget-friendly option for people who want immense power. It’s just as strong as the much pricier Magic Wand Waterproof, making it a better value for most people.

Its 4 power levels also provide a broad range of intensities. It has softer levels as a warmup or for people who don’t need extreme strength. I rate the lowest power at 1.9 out of 10 and the second level at 6.1 out of 10.

Personally, I rarely use the third or fourth settings because the first two are enough for me – I can orgasm from either level. I think many people will be happy with just these. And if you venture into the upper settings, you may want to try them over your clothes – they are intense! Even on the second power, I often use the Magic Wand Plus over my underwear.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 6.6 7.8
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 48 Hz 40 Hz
Median Frequency 71 Hz 71 Hz
Frequency on High Power 85 Hz 98 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 5.3 7.6

When we rate wands, we award higher scores to those with rumbly (low-frequency) vibrations and lower scores to those with buzzy (high-frequency) vibrations. But there are plenty of people who enjoy buzzy vibrations from time to time. Including me! So consider your own preferences during this discussion.

The Le Wand Petite starts out extremely rumbly on its lowest powers. But since these levels are pretty soft, most people will only use them briefly. And as the power increases, it quickly becomes less rumbly.

All the power levels with substantial power are in the neutral range – neither rumbly nor buzzy.

This may work well for you – I personally enjoy neutral vibrations too. However, even if you like vibrations in this part of the spectrum there are better options available.

Neutral FemmeFunn and BMS PalmPower Extreme vs Extremely Rumbly Lovense Domi and Dame Com
Stronger neutral-feeling wands, the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand (aqua) and BMS PalmPower Extreme (pink. And more rumbly-feeling wands, the Lovense Domi (black) and Dame Com (purple).

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand is a cheaper option with moderately rumbly to neutral vibrations and stronger power. Or the BMS PalmPower Extreme has rumbly lower power levels, neutral high power levels, and substantially more vibration strength.

If you prefer those deep, rumbly vibrations, consider the Lovense Domi 2 if you like high power, or the Dame Com if you enjoy moderate strength.

Because most people prefer rumbly wands, we rate these higher than buzzy wands.

The Magic Wand Plus’s first two power levels are extremely rumbly. These low-frequency vibrations feel deep and impactful. And since the wand is so powerful, many people will primarily use these lower two levels.

Power level 2 packs excellent strength, while remaining deep and low-frequency. This rumbly quality of the vibrations prevents them from feeling overwhelming, ticklish, or numbing. That second setting is my favorite, and it’s the one I orgasm with most frequently.

The third level feels neutral – neither rumbly nor buzzy.

BMS PalmPower Extreme vs Magic Wand Plus - Vibration Power vs Frequency Graph

Only the highest power (9.0 out of 10) begins to feel buzzy. No wand I’ve tested yet has remained rumbly when its power increases beyond 8.0 out of 10. The BMS PalmPower Extreme is the only wand with comparable strength that stays in the neutral range on its top power – but the difference is minimal.

Most people will be happy with the Magic Wand Plus’s balance between extreme strength and rumbliness.

The Le Wand Petite is quite comfortable and easy to use. I have no complaints about the Le Wand Petite in this area.

The head is a little firmer than I usually prefer, but its smaller size means I can comfortably fit and press it into tighter spaces. And it’s pretty easy to leverage for nice, firm pressure.

The buttons are easy to press and provide all the necessary functionality for a positive experience. There are separate buttons to increase and decrease power. So you don’t need to cycle through power levels. And a third button controls pattern selection.

But there are many wands that are just as comfortable and easy to use while costing less. So if this is important to you, check out some of the other wands that score an 8 or higher.

The Magic Wand Plus is a great fit for those who want a comfortable full-sized wand. It has a wide, tall head, which diffuses the intense power comfortably over a broad area.

Full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Plus are more difficult to maneuver quickly or fit into tight spaces than compact wands like the Lovense Domi or Magic Wand Mini. But because this wand has such powerful, deep vibrations I don’t need to position it with precision. The Magic Wand Plus’s rumbly vibes impact the entire vicinity around the head!

I also love how plush the head is!

It’s firm enough that I can still apply substantial pressure, but soft enough that it’s completely comfortable against my body. It doesn’t bump uncomfortably into my pubic bone as really firm wands like the Satisfyer Wand-er Woman do.

Satisfyer Wander Woman Head Plushness

When the Magic Wand Plus is on its lowest power, you can feel the vibrations in your hands. But they’re so rumbly that it doesn’t feel uncomfortable or distracting. And it does a great job of dampening the handle vibrations on higher powers.

The Magic Wand Plus is not waterproof, so it’s best to wash down the head with a warm, soapy cloth. But since there are no tricky grooves on the head, it’s still easy to clean. There is a waterproof version, the Magic Wand Waterproof, but it’s much more expensive, so the Plus is a better value unless you really value waterproof play.

The Plus’s silicone buttons are comfortable and easy to press without moving my hands. But most importantly, there are separate buttons to increase or decrease the power. Some wands make you cycle through intensity levels with a single button. When toys have this much power, I like to be able to step back down easily.

Use During Sex

Spooning 9.0 9.5

The Le Wand Petite is also enjoyable during sex.

The smaller handle and head take up minimal space and don’t get in the way. It’s easy to fit the Le Wand Petite between your bodies.

However, since the head is more firm I find it occasionally bumps uncomfortably into my pubic bone in positions where my partner and I are facing each other – like Missionary and Cowgirl.

So I prefer it in positions from behind like Spooning or Doggystyle where this is not an issue.

The Magic Wand Mini is similar in size to the Le Wand Petite, but it has a squishier head that I find more comfortable. I prefer it during sex over the Le Wand Petite. Or if you want an even smaller head for those extra-tight spaces, the Lovense Domi is excellent!

Either option is better during sex than the Le Wand Petite at a lower cost, so I don’t see a compelling reason to consider the Petite during partnered sex.

The Magic Wand Plus is one of my favorite full-sized wands to use during sex – though I also enjoy the cordless convenience of the (slightly less powerful) Magic Wand Rechargeable.

I particularly enjoy the Plus in the spooning position and a modified missionary position (lying on my back with my partner kneeling).

The full length of the wand has the space it needs for me to angle and leverage the handle in these positions – I like to really push my vibes deeper (which is why I need a sturdy wand). And the plush head maintains comfortable, easy, consistent contact with my clit.

I move a lot more in Cowgirl, so I notice the weight and bulk of the Magic Wand Plus more in this position. The size is a little harder to control with more movement (especially compared to small wands like the Magic Wand Mini or Lovense Domi), but it’s still manageable. Plus, the sheer strength the Magic Wand Plus cranks out means you don’t need to position the wand in a precise spot to feel its effects.

Size Comparison of Magic Wand Mini Plus and Lovense Domi
The Magic Wand Plus (middle) compared to smaller, easier to control wands like the Magic Wand Mini (left) or Lovense Domi (right)

Doggystyle is the trickiest position for the Magic Wand Plus because you’re working against gravity to hold the wand up between your legs. But I’ve found that I can place the base of the handle on the bed to support some of the weight and give my arm a rest (though this works even better with the Rechargeable since the base doesn’t have a cord in the way).

Overall, it’s a great option during sex – especially for those who want the immense power of a full-sized wand.

High Power with Box Fan Inaudible Inaudible

When we tested the Le Wand Petite’s decibel levels, it measured slightly louder than other wands with comparable power.

In practical use, I can use the mid and lower power levels without my partner hearing from the other side of a closed bedroom door. But he can hear the upper levels. So if you’re trying to avoid being overheard, sticking to lower powers will help. Turning on a fan or music in the bedroom also masked the sound of the Le Wand Petite.

If you want something more discreet, there are several quieter wand vibrators with comparable or greater power. Some of my favorites are the Viben Sultry (budget-friendly) or We-Vibe Wand 2 (better but more expensive).

To test a wand’s discretion, I use the wand in our bedroom while my partner stands directly on the other side of the door to see whether he can hear it.

The Magic Wand Plus is not audible behind a closed door on its lowest power level. But with no other sounds in our house, he can hear the top three settings. In fact, all three of my strongest wands are only inaudible at their low levels.

We also test whether turning on a box fan or music in the bedroom drowns out each wand’s noise. Either option successfully masked all the Magic Wand Plus’s power levels.

So if you have housemates, you’ll want to grab a box fan or turn up some jams.

For a mid-sized wand, the Le Wand Petite has great attachment compatibility.

Le Wand designed several high-quality attachments specifically for the Le Wand Petite. These attachments provide G-spot, prostate, anal, or dual-stimulation. Or they can add textured clit stimulation.

The Lovense Domi’s attachments also fit the Le Wand Petite – this adds the option for penis stimulation.

But keep in mind, the Le Wand Petite’s attachments also fit other mid-sized wands like the Magic Wand Mini. So you can still consider other wands if you want to use the Petite’s attachments.

Because Magic Wand is the most well-known wand massager brand, the majority of wand attachments are designed for the Magic Wand Plus. So this wand (and others close in size) have the greatest compatibility.

You can find a compatible attachment for a broad variety of stimulation – penis, clitoral, G-spot, anal, prostate, and dual-stimulation. For more specifics, you can check our wand attachment compatibility table here.

Compatibility with Wanda 7.5 8.0

I test my wand vibrators with Liberator’s wand mounts: the Axis and Wanda. These hold your wand for you so you can enjoy hands-free stimulation.

The Le Wand Petite gives excellent clit stimulation when placed in the Liberator Wanda mount. I find mid-sized wands like the Le Wand Petite rest at the best height in this mount. It’s easy to straddle the mount and keep the Petite in good contact with my clit. And I can easily lean forward to create more space for penetration while keeping the Petite on my clit.

The Le Wand Petite works decently with the Liberator Axis, but it takes some extra effort to get quality contact and pressure from the wand. With the Axis, it’s easiest to lie on your stomach over the top of the mount. It holds the wand angled out to the side at a slight upward angle between your legs.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

I find angled or curved wands are best with the Axis because it places the head of the wand closer to where your clit is naturally positioned. Since the Le Wand Petite has a straight handle, it’s not quite as effortless as wands like the BMS PalmPower Extreme or Dame Com (two of my favorite wands to use with mounts).

I test my wands with the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts for hands-free stimulation.

The Magic Wand Plus is excellent in the Axis mount. I insert the wand and lie on my stomach over the top of the wedge. The Axis holds the wand out at a slight upward angle between my legs. I can just rest lying on the mount and enjoy a hands-free orgasm. Or my partner can easily enter from behind.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

When placed in the Axis, the Magic Wand Plus’s tall, broad head maintains much better contact and pressure with my clit than narrower wands. And the squishy texture keeps the wand comfy – the extra comfort is helpful since you don’t have as fine-tuned control over positioning the head when using it hands-free. And since the Plus’s vibrations are extremely powerful, you get excellent clit stimulation without needing to position the wand in a precise spot.

The Wanda holds the Magic Wand Plus in a nearly upright position. You can rest on your elbows and knees (in a sort of Doggystyle position) and get hands-free stimulation solo or during sex.

Again, the wide, plush head provides a comfortable, broad surface to lean your weight on. And with taller wands like this, you don’t have to spread your legs as wide to keep your clit in contact with the wand’s head. So it’s comfortable to hold this position longer.

Some shorter wands also allow you to straddle and sit on the mount, leaning backward or forward into the vibrations for stimulation. The Magic Wand Plus is too tall to straddle like this, but it performs really well in the Doggystyle position.

This wand has a decent battery life. During our testing, it lasted 105 minutes continuously vibrating at its highest power. There is also a Plug-In version with nearly identical performance.

But for the price, there are many options with comparable or better performance – including more powerful toys that last longer on high power. For instance, the Magic Wand Rechargeable is one of the most powerful wand vibrators and lasts over 4 hours on high.

The Magic Wand Plus is a plug-in wand (most of the strongest ones are). So you don’t have to worry about running out of battery, but you’ll need to play near an outlet. The Plus’s cord is 6 feet long though, so it’s not very restrictive.

You can also remove the Magic Wand Plus’s cord which makes storing it easier – this is the only plug-in wand I have with this feature. As someone who loves organization, I find this really convenient. If you prefer a rechargeable wand, the Rechargeable and Waterproof versions are cord-free, but pricier.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 8.0 9.5

The construction of the Le Wand Petite feels pretty well-made. The head feels durable and firm. The handle looks metallic, but it’s actually a thin plastic that feels a little cheap, but helps keep the wand from being too heavy.

The Magic Wand Plus is made from quality materials and feels built to last. The older Magic Wand Original had a porous head that could not be sanitized. But the upgraded Magic Wand Plus has a body-safe, silicone head. The silicone is plush and extremely comfortable. And the Magic Wand Plus’s hard plastic handle feels sturdy and durable.

The neck is slightly flexible, but solid. I can comfortably apply firm pressure without feeling like I may damage the wand. The silicone buttons are positioned well along the handle and are always responsive.
