Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 7.8 7.0
Power Range Rating 5.1 6.8
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

One of the main reasons the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand is a favorite of mine is that it packs excellent power while remaining easy to maneuver from its compact size. In fact, every wand vibrator I’ve tried that has more power is larger and heavier than the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand.

Now this vibrator does have limited power range. There are only three power levels and they’re all pretty close together. This wand comes out of the gate with a bang – I rate it’s lowest power level a 6 out of 10.

I personally don’t mind starting out at that 6/10 level – it’s strong but not overwhelming to me. But if you usually need gentle levels to warm up, you might consider a wand with a wider range like the Lovense Domi or Dame Com.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand vs Wands with Lower Powers
The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand (left) with two alternatives that have more lower powers – the Lovense Domi (middle) and Dame Com (right)

While there are wands with even more extreme power (see the Doxy Die Cast), the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand’s power will be plenty for most people. I personally don’t even need the second or third power levels. I usually stay on the first setting which is enough to bring me to orgasm on its own.

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand is also cheaper than any of the more powerful wands I recommend.

The Romp Presto offers a decent power range, especially for a budget wand – starting gently at 1.7 out of 10 and topping out at a moderately intense 5.0.

It’s stronger than many non-wand vibrators, and the six settings let you build intensity gradually. That’s a big win if you’re prone to overstimulation or prefer a slow warmup. While it’s only about half as strong as our most powerful wands, most people don’t need the enormous intensity of full-sized wands, and it’s an excellent option at this price point.

Its overall power range is also very similar to the more expensive Magic Wand Mini, even offering more intermediate settings, making the Romp Presto a great budget alternative if you’re looking for a similar feel without the higher price.

If you want a stronger mini wand without spending much more, consider the Satisfyer Wand-er Woman (cheapest) or Magic Wand Plus (stronger and better overall).

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 7.5 6.3
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 69 Hz 69 Hz
Median Frequency 74 Hz 79 Hz
Frequency on High Power 80 Hz 86 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 7.3 5.5

The FemmeFunn Ultra is best for people who enjoy moderately rumbly to neutral vibrations. It has above average rumbliness, but it’s not extreme. (By the way, if you prefer buzzy vibrations, consider the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet or FemmeFunn Ultra Bullet – two of my favorite small, buzzy vibrators!)

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand’s first two power levels feel moderately rumbly, and the highest level feels neutral. Since even the first two settings have substantial power, you’ll likely spend a lot of time with these – so you’ll experience some light rumbliness as you play.

But this may or may not be a good fit depending on your preferences. We rate more rumbly wands higher since that’s most people’s preference. But many prefer more neutral vibrations and some prefer buzzy.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand vs Lovense Domi vs Dame Com - Vibration Power vs Frequency Graph

If you prefer more extreme rumbliness, the Dame Com is a moderately-powered, more rumbly option. And the Lovense Domi 2 is a high-powered, more rumbly option. Each is a bit more expensive than the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand.

If you enjoy rumbly vibes closer to the center of the spectrum, then the FemmeFun Ultra Wand is an all-around great toy at a reasonable price. I personally enjoy the vibration feeling from the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand, and it’s one of my favorites.

We rate rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because many people prefer them. But this is ultimately a personal preference, so consider what you like.

The Romp Presto’s rumbliness is just decent. The lowest settings on the Romp Presto feel rumbly, but once you go higher, the vibrations take on a neutral feel (though they never become buzzy). This is a common tradeoff with inexpensive wands.

I personally enjoy the Presto’s neutral settings as they provide a greater kick at the surface, which I like.

The Romp Presto (left) with a more rumbly alternative in this price range, the BMS Swan Era Wand (right).

If you prefer deeper, rumbly vibes, you’ll need to spend a bit more. The BMS Swan Era Wand is the cheapest, consistently rumbly mini wand we recommend.

I gave the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand one of the highest ratings for comfort and ease of use!

The compact size is easy to hold and maneuver. The head isn’t squishy, but the neck is extremely flexible so it’s still comfy. I’ve found when some wands are flexible, you lose the ability to apply pressure – but this is not the case with the Ultra Wand. It’s the perfect size to comfortably leverage the handle and push the vibrations deeper into me.

The head is also an excellent size for versatile stimulation. For such a short wand, the head is fairly tall – but not too wide. So I can press the top of the wand to my body for more focused stimulation, or use the tall side of the head for more broad stimulation.

The top of the FemmeFunn Ultra head can be used for focused stimulation, while the side is useful for broad stimulation

It has two buttons used to control it. One lets you cycle through a series of 3 power levels and then several patterns. The second button is a “power boost” button. This lets you turn any one of the power levels or patterns up to full power with one click.

While I do wish there was another button to step back down in power (instead of cycling through the settings with one button), the power boost button is a nice touch.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand Buttons
The bottom button cycles through three intensities and multiple patterns. The top button provides a burst of higher power when pressed.

The silicone handle is also exceptionally comfortable to hold. Overall, this is one of the wands I reach for most often. Which is one of the strongest testaments I can give it!

The Romp Presto is impressively comfortable.

The handle is long enough to grip comfortably several ways. Its flared base gives your thumb a natural resting point to help leverage the wand rather than using just your wrist – I can easily apply excellent pressure. And the vibrations transferred to my hand are minimal and not at all distracting.

Romp Presto Grip with Flared Base
Comfortable grip on Romp Presto because of the flared base.

The slightly plush head feels great against your body, and this squishier silicone is normally something you only get with pricier toys. The moderately flexible neck provides enough give for comfort without losing too much rigidity for applying firm pressure.

You can adjust power up or down directly using separate buttons – no need to cycle through all the levels as many other cheap wands require. And you can change the intensity of the patterns too. One quirk: You access the patterns by double-tapping the “+” button, so if you’re trying to quickly ramp up power, you’ll need to pause slightly between taps. That won’t matter if you usually build gradually, but if you like jumping straight to high, the controls might be a minor annoyance.

Use During Sex

Spooning 10.0 9.0
Doggystyle 9.5 8.0
Modified Missionary 9.0 9.0
Cowgirl 8.5 9.5

This wand is also one of my favorites to use during sex. It performs best in Spooning, Doggystyle, and Modified Missionary positions.

The extreme flexibility of the neck makes it trickier to apply leverage in the Cowgirl position. But that’s only if you’re looking for very firm pressure.

And the flexible neck is a big part of the reason I really enjoy this wand in other positions. Its extra bendiness and slim head make it easy to maneuver and fit into tight places.

The handle is the perfect size to give you a good grip with nice leverage. But it’s short enough that it doesn’t take up too much space during sex. Overall, this is a great option to use with a partner!

The Romp Presto is fantastic during sex. It’s the most affordable wand to perform this well with a partner.

The small head fits easily between bodies, and the shorter handle doesn’t bump against your partner’s chest in positions facing each other, like missionary and cowgirl.

The plush, round head maintains comfortable contact during lots of movement. And since the head is narrow, it allows for more precise targeting.

In doggystyle, the handle is a little short to rest against the bed like you can with full-sized wands, but it’s light enough that you can hold it up without much effort.

Overall, a very sex-friendly wand.

Low Power Inaudible Inaudible
Middle Power Audible Inaudible
High Power Audible Inaudible
High Power with Box Fan Inaudible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

This is not one of the quietest wands available, but there are some solutions to help.

We test each wand to see whether someone can hear it standing directly on the other side of a closed bedroom door. When I use the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand in our bedroom and my partner listens at the door, I can use the lowest power without him hearing. But he can hear the top two settings.

But, when we turn a box fan or some music on in the bedroom, it becomes inaudible on all power levels.

If sound is especially important to you, the Viben Sultry has comparable power to the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand, but remains inaudible on all power levels without needing a fan or music. And of course, less powerful wands are also quieter.

But for the FemmeFunn’s power, its noise is reasonable.

The Romp Presto is a quiet wand, and is great if you live with others. It was inaudible from behind a closed door in our tests, even on the highest level.

While decibel readings are a bit higher in open air compared to some wands, I don’t find the noise distracting at all. And the sound is even quieter when pressed against your body. You won’t find a noticeably quieter wand at this price.

Attachment Compatibility

Number of Attachments Rating 4.6 4.6
Stimulation Variety 10.0 10.0

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand has decent compatibility with attachments.

It doesn’t work with attachments designed for full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable. But a few brands make attachments compatible with mid-sized wands like the FemmeFunn.

Le Wand has several attachments designed for the Le Wand Petite, and all of these fit the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand too. These provide various kinds of stimulation like G-spot, anal, prostate, and dual-stimulation. They also have textured caps to change how the wand’s clit stimulation feels.

Both attachments designed for the Lovense Domi also fit the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand. These provide similar stimulation to those mentioned above, and the male attachment also provides penis stimulation.

The Romp Presto has average compatibility with attachments since most attachments are designed for large heads. However, it works with more attachments than most mini wands.

The Lovense Domi‘s attachments (see here) and Le Wand Petite‘s attachments (see here) fit well, and these provide a few different stimulation types. So you’ll still have a variety to choose from. For all attachments that fit this wand, see our wand attachment compatibility table here.

For a compact wand without a curved handle, I was surprised at how well the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand works with mounts.

I test all my wands with Liberator’s mounts for hands-free play: the Axis and Wanda

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

The Axis enables you to lie face down over the mount while it holds the wand between your legs. I typically use this mount for hands-free stimulation during sex from behind. The FemmeFunn Ultra wand works fairly well with the Axis, but you need to be aware of your body’s position to keep the wand in contact with your clit.

It’s not as effortless to get good clitoral contact and pressure as a wand with a curved handle or angled head. My favorites to use with the Axis are the Dame Com and BMS PalmPower Extreme.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand vs BMS PalmPower Extreme in Axis Mount
The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand (blue) in the Axis mount vs the firmer pressure the BMS PalmPower Extreme (pink) provides due to the angled head

When it comes to the Wanda mount, the FemmeFunn is awesome! While straddling the Wanda, it’s very easy to lean forward or backward and adjust the pressure and stimulation you get from the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand. Or you can bend all the way forward over the mount, and there’s plenty of room for penetration from a partner.

I test my wands with the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts. The Romp Presto has reasonable compatibility with both.

Many small wands don’t fit in mounts at all, so it’s a win that the Presto fits and provides any stimulation. That said, I generally prefer wands with larger heads for hands-free use. They reach your body more easily and provide a wider surface area for comfortable pressure without requiring precise placement. If mount use is a priority, you’ll likely want to step up to a different wand.

Small vs Large Head in Axis Mount Overlay
Small heads (pink) don’t provide as firm of pressure as wands with larger heads (white) in the Axis Mount.

In the Axis, you lie face-down over the mount, and the wand rests at an upward angle between your legs. The Presto fits, but you’ll need to angle the head high to maintain clitoral contact. Because of its small head and moderate strength, the stimulation feels inconsistent compared to larger wands. It works, but the experience is just okay.

In the Wanda, where you sit on top of the mount and adjust pressure by shifting your weight, the Presto performs better. The slightly plush head makes it comfortable to press against, and it provides good stimulation solo. But you cannot use the Presto and Wanda easily with a partner penetrating from behind. The wand is short, so you have to sit lower than is comfortable if a partner is behind you.

My favorite wand to use with both mounts is the BMS PalmPower Extreme.

Power Source Rechargeable Rechargeable
Battery Life on High Power 75 Minutes 40 Minutes

The FemmeFunn wand lasts around 75 minutes continuously running on its highest power.

This is toward the lower end of our wand vibrators’ battery lives.

If you want a wand with this level of power that provides longer playtime between charges, consider the Magic Wand Rechargeable.

But keep in mind, if you won’t be using the highest strength the entire time, the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand will last longer.

The Romp Presto’s disappointing battery life is its biggest flaw. It only lasts 40 minutes on high – significantly less than most other wands, even those that are stronger.

That’s fine if you’re willing to charge after each use, but if you want longer runtime, the Satisfyer Wand-er Woman lasts over three times as long and is still affordable.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 8.5 8.0

This wand is covered entirely in silicone, including the buttons, which feels very luxurious and comfortable. Even though the neck is more flexible than most wands, it still feels thick enough, so I’m never worried it will break from firm pressure.

The Romp Presto feels well-made, especially for such an inexpensive wand!

The full silicone body and flexible neck feel sturdy and high-quality. It’s a major step up from the older Romp Flip’s flimsy neck, which broke during testing.

Romp Presto Wand Flexibility Photo
The Romp Presto’s neck flexibility, which has some give, but seems sturdy.
Romp Flip Wand Flexibility Photo
The Romp Flip’s neck flexibility, which was too flimsy and broke easily.

The head’s silicone is also plush, which is rare even in pricier wands, and it feels very luxurious.

Nothing feels at risk of breaking quickly. This is one of the best-built wands in the budget price range.
