Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 7.8 6.9
Power Range Rating 5.1 6.9
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

One of the main reasons the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand is a favorite of mine is that it packs excellent power while remaining easy to maneuver from its compact size. In fact, every wand vibrator I’ve tried that has more power is larger and heavier than the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand.

Now this vibrator does have limited power range. There are only three power levels and they’re all pretty close together. This wand comes out of the gate with a bang – I rate it’s lowest power level a 6 out of 10.

I personally don’t mind starting out at that 6/10 level – it’s strong but not overwhelming to me. But if you usually need gentle levels to warm up, you might consider a wand with a wider range like the Lovense Domi or Dame Com.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand vs Wands with Lower Powers
The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand (left) with two alternatives that have more lower powers – the Lovense Domi (middle) and Dame Com (right)

While there are wands with even more extreme power (see the Doxy Die Cast), the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand’s power will be plenty for most people. I personally don’t even need the second or third power levels. I usually stay on the first setting which is enough to bring me to orgasm on its own.

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand is also cheaper than any of the more powerful wands I recommend.

The Dame Min has moderate power, similar to many of my mid-sized non-wand vibrators. It’s strong enough for me – I usually only need to go up to the 3rd or 4th setting – but it won’t satisfy those who want the intense strength typically associated with wands.

It has 5 power settings with small, gradual steps between each one. This makes it great if you’re prone to overstimulation and prefer a gentle build and moderate intensity. But if you’re hoping for extremely powerful top settings, you’ll be disappointed.

The Dame Min with other Dame products. From left to right: Dame Min, Dame Pom, Dame Zee, and Dame Com.

The Dame Min is stronger than Dame’s bullets and palm vibrators like the Zee and Pom, and it actually matches the top strength of Dame’s larger wand, the Com. But its strength is significantly lower than full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Plus, which has nearly double the Min’s top intensity.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 7.5 5.7
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 69 Hz 62 Hz
Median Frequency 74 Hz 87 Hz
Frequency on High Power 80 Hz 97 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 7.3 5.1

The FemmeFunn Ultra is best for people who enjoy moderately rumbly to neutral vibrations. It has above average rumbliness, but it’s not extreme. (By the way, if you prefer buzzy vibrations, consider the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet or FemmeFunn Ultra Bullet – two of my favorite small, buzzy vibrators!)

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand’s first two power levels feel moderately rumbly, and the highest level feels neutral. Since even the first two settings have substantial power, you’ll likely spend a lot of time with these – so you’ll experience some light rumbliness as you play.

But this may or may not be a good fit depending on your preferences. We rate more rumbly wands higher since that’s most people’s preference. But many prefer more neutral vibrations and some prefer buzzy.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand vs Lovense Domi vs Dame Com - Vibration Power vs Frequency Graph

If you prefer more extreme rumbliness, the Dame Com is a moderately-powered, more rumbly option. And the Lovense Domi 2 is a high-powered, more rumbly option. Each is a bit more expensive than the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand.

If you enjoy rumbly vibes closer to the center of the spectrum, then the FemmeFun Ultra Wand is an all-around great toy at a reasonable price. I personally enjoy the vibration feeling from the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand, and it’s one of my favorites.

Most people prefer rumbly vibrations, so we rate rumbly wands higher. But I often prefer buzzy or neutral-feeling vibrations – and you might too. So consider your own preferences here.

The Dame Min starts moderately rumbly on its lowest setting, but quickly shifts to neutral and then moderately buzzy on its higher settings. Personally, I find the buzzy top levels great for a precise, surface-level kick.

Since the rumbly setting is very gentle, most people will move beyond it quickly. So if you prefer rumbly vibrations, the Magic Wand Mini is a better mini wand for you. Or Dame’s larger wand, the Com, stays rumbly throughout its entire power range.

I gave the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand one of the highest ratings for comfort and ease of use!

The compact size is easy to hold and maneuver. The head isn’t squishy, but the neck is extremely flexible so it’s still comfy. I’ve found when some wands are flexible, you lose the ability to apply pressure – but this is not the case with the Ultra Wand. It’s the perfect size to comfortably leverage the handle and push the vibrations deeper into me.

The head is also an excellent size for versatile stimulation. For such a short wand, the head is fairly tall – but not too wide. So I can press the top of the wand to my body for more focused stimulation, or use the tall side of the head for more broad stimulation.

The top of the FemmeFunn Ultra head can be used for focused stimulation, while the side is useful for broad stimulation

It has two buttons used to control it. One lets you cycle through a series of 3 power levels and then several patterns. The second button is a “power boost” button. This lets you turn any one of the power levels or patterns up to full power with one click.

While I do wish there was another button to step back down in power (instead of cycling through the settings with one button), the power boost button is a nice touch.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand Buttons
The bottom button cycles through three intensities and multiple patterns. The top button provides a burst of higher power when pressed.

The silicone handle is also exceptionally comfortable to hold. Overall, this is one of the wands I reach for most often. Which is one of the strongest testaments I can give it!

The Dame Min is comfortable and easy to use, but the handle and buttons take some getting used to.

As Dame promises, there are no distracting vibrations in the handle. And the curve helps you leverage the wand easily to apply firm pressure, while the moderately flexible neck moves with you, keeping that pressure comfortable.

However, the short handle makes it harder to grip. My thumb naturally rests near the buttons, and I sometimes press them by accident. I find that I need to adjust my grip to avoid this – either by sliding my thumb to the side or holding the wand closer to the middle – and while it’s not completely intuitive, it’s manageable once you get used to it.

Grip on Dame Min With Accidental Button Press
Natural grip on the Dame Min may cause accidental button presses.

The buttons also have responsiveness issues. I often need to press them multiple times before the power changes, which gets frustrating in the middle of use. If you typically stay on one or two settings, this might not be a problem. But if you like to make frequent adjustments, it can be disruptive. If so, the Magic Wand Mini has more reliable buttons at a similar price point.

Dame Min and Magic Wand Mini
The Magic Wand Mini (right) has more reliable buttons than the Dame Min (left).

That said, the control setup is solid when it works. You can increase or decrease power and cycle through all the vibration patterns, adjusting the intensity of each one.

The Min’s small head is also great for targeting a specific area, and you can press it firmly against you comfortably. I also love the grippy silicone material, which feels luxurious in my hand. It’s fully waterproof and easy to clean. If you prefer smaller wands and are willing to adjust to the buttons, the Min could be a good fit.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 9.3 9.0

Spooning 10.0 8.0
Doggystyle 9.5 9.0
Modified Missionary 9.0 9.0
Cowgirl 8.5 10.0

This wand is also one of my favorites to use during sex. It performs best in Spooning, Doggystyle, and Modified Missionary positions.

The extreme flexibility of the neck makes it trickier to apply leverage in the Cowgirl position. But that’s only if you’re looking for very firm pressure.

And the flexible neck is a big part of the reason I really enjoy this wand in other positions. Its extra bendiness and slim head make it easy to maneuver and fit into tight places.

The handle is the perfect size to give you a good grip with nice leverage. But it’s short enough that it doesn’t take up too much space during sex. Overall, this is a great option to use with a partner!

The Dame Min is a great wand to use during sex. Its small head fits easily into tight spaces, which helps you get direct clitoral contact – especially important when working with gentle or moderate vibrations like these.

The Firm Dame Min Head Compared to Plush Magic Wand Mini Head
The Dame Min’s head (left) is firm. Plush heads like the Magic Wand Mini’s (right) add extra cushioning.

The head is firm and could get pressed uncomfortably with aggressive movement, but its smaller size makes it easier to control exactly where pressure is applied – unlike larger heads, which press across a wider area and are harder to reposition precisely. The moderately flexible neck also helps it move with your body, keeping things comfortable during use.

The short, curved handle is easy to leverage without hitting your partner or the bed. During doggy-style, the handle is too short to rest against the bed for support, but it’s light enough that I can hold it for extended periods without tiring.

Middle Power Audible Inaudible
High Power Audible Inaudible
High Power with Box Fan Inaudible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

This is not one of the quietest wands available, but there are some solutions to help.

We test each wand to see whether someone can hear it standing directly on the other side of a closed bedroom door. When I use the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand in our bedroom and my partner listens at the door, I can use the lowest power without him hearing. But he can hear the top two settings.

But, when we turn a box fan or some music on in the bedroom, it becomes inaudible on all power levels.

If sound is especially important to you, the Viben Sultry has comparable power to the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand, but remains inaudible on all power levels without needing a fan or music. And of course, less powerful wands are also quieter.

But for the FemmeFunn’s power, its noise is reasonable.

The Dame Min is quiet. In our tests, all power levels were inaudible from behind a closed door, which is typical for moderately powerful mini wands like this.

However, we began noticing a faint rattling sound, exclusively on the lowest setting. It’s not loud enough to hear through a door, but it might be distracting in quiet environments. But most people will likely move past the lowest level quickly.

It’s also worth noting that we only began hearing the rattling sound after performing our Battery Life Test, where we run the wand continuously on its highest setting until it dies. So it’s possible the sound developed from being overworked during testing, and may not appear with typical use.

Attachment Compatibility

Attachment Compatibility Rating 7.3 5.8
FemmeFunn Ultra Wand Compatible Wand Attachments
Dame Min Compatible Wand Attachments
Number of Attachments Rating 4.6 2.9
Stimulation Variety 10.0 8.8

The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand has decent compatibility with attachments.

It doesn’t work with attachments designed for full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable. But a few brands make attachments compatible with mid-sized wands like the FemmeFunn.

Le Wand has several attachments designed for the Le Wand Petite, and all of these fit the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand too. These provide various kinds of stimulation like G-spot, anal, prostate, and dual-stimulation. They also have textured caps to change how the wand’s clit stimulation feels.

Both attachments designed for the Lovense Domi also fit the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand. These provide similar stimulation to those mentioned above, and the male attachment also provides penis stimulation.

The Dame Min has poor attachment compatibility. Most wand attachments are made for larger heads and won’t fit.

Two of my small-head attachments fit securely. Three others designed for the PalmPower Rechargeable fit with friction, but didn’t lock into place like they do for the PalmPower. If you want a mini wand with more compatible attachments, the Magic Wand Mini is a better choice.

For a compact wand without a curved handle, I was surprised at how well the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand works with mounts.

I test all my wands with Liberator’s mounts for hands-free play: the Axis and Wanda

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

The Axis enables you to lie face down over the mount while it holds the wand between your legs. I typically use this mount for hands-free stimulation during sex from behind. The FemmeFunn Ultra wand works fairly well with the Axis, but you need to be aware of your body’s position to keep the wand in contact with your clit.

It’s not as effortless to get good clitoral contact and pressure as a wand with a curved handle or angled head. My favorites to use with the Axis are the Dame Com and BMS PalmPower Extreme.

FemmeFunn Ultra Wand vs BMS PalmPower Extreme in Axis Mount
The FemmeFunn Ultra Wand (blue) in the Axis mount vs the firmer pressure the BMS PalmPower Extreme (pink) provides due to the angled head

When it comes to the Wanda mount, the FemmeFunn is awesome! While straddling the Wanda, it’s very easy to lean forward or backward and adjust the pressure and stimulation you get from the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand. Or you can bend all the way forward over the mount, and there’s plenty of room for penetration from a partner.

I test all my wands with the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts. The Dame Min works decently with both – better than most mini wands I’ve tested.

In the Axis, you can lie over the mount on your stomach, and the Min is held between your legs at a slightly upward angle.

The upward curve of the Min’s head helps provide more pressure than a straight wand of this size. But a larger head would stay in contact with your body more easily and provide better pressure.

The Wanda holds the Min upright while you straddle or sit on the mount for hands-free stimulation. The surface area to press against is small since the head is small, so you have to position yourself carefully, but it is doable.

If you’re using this with a partner penetrating from behind, you can achieve decent contact if you sink down low to reach the Min’s head.

A wand with a larger head typically provides better pressure and more even contact. So if you prioritize mount-use, I’d recommend the Magic Wand Plus. But the Min is great if you’re set on a mini wand.

Battery Life on High Power 75 Minutes 105 Minutes

The FemmeFunn wand lasts around 75 minutes continuously running on its highest power.

This is toward the lower end of our wand vibrators’ battery lives.

If you want a wand with this level of power that provides longer playtime between charges, consider the Magic Wand Rechargeable.

But keep in mind, if you won’t be using the highest strength the entire time, the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand will last longer.

The Dame Min lasted 105 minutes on high in our test, which is good. If you want something with an even longer battery life, the Magic Wand Mini lasted twice as long.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 8.5 7.4

This wand is covered entirely in silicone, including the buttons, which feels very luxurious and comfortable. Even though the neck is more flexible than most wands, it still feels thick enough, so I’m never worried it will break from firm pressure.

The Dame Min feels luxurious and reasonably durable. The silicone body is smooth, and the flexible neck holds up well to pressure. The buttons feel fine in terms of physical quality, though they suffer from some responsiveness issues.

We did notice a slight rattling sound that developed on the lowest setting after performing our Battery Life Test, where we ran the wand continuously on high until it died. While the rattling is minor and doesn’t affect performance, it could be a sign of wear under prolonged or intensive use. We haven’t observe any decline in strength, so we still consider the Min to be fairly well-built overall, but it may not hold up quite as well over time as sturdier wands.
