Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 10.0 6.9
Power Range Rating 9.3 6.6
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Doxy Die Cast is the most powerful wand I own – slightly stronger than the rechargeable version, the Doxy Die Cast R.

The “10” on my vibration power scale is based on this wand’s highest setting. In fact, all of its top 3 settings are stronger than my second-most powerful wand. So the Die Cast is a wand for those on a search for extreme intensity.

But it also has some softer settings for those like me who prefer moderate strength – a major benefit over the rechargeable version, which lacks any warmup settings.

It starts at about 20% power which is a perfect strength for warming up. This power still feels impactful, but not overwhelming. I spend a lot of time on this first setting. Once I’m ready, I’ll jump to the second level, which is around 73% of its full power.

Doxy Die Cast vs Weaker Vibrations
The second power of the Doxy Die Cast (left) is stronger than the highest powers of my favorite g-spot or rabbit vibrators (left)

This second power is already substantially more powerful than my non-wand vibrators (like G-spot vibes, rabbits, etc.). But it’s still not overstimulating, and this power is rumbly so I really enjoy the second level!

And that’s as far as I venture. The rest of the settings have enormous power. And even on the first two levels, I wear underwear and leggings to dull the intensity a bit.

If you typically prefer mild stimulation, a wand with more gentle settings like the Dame Com may be better for you. If you love power, the Doxy Die Cast is excellent!

The VeDO Wanda has three power levels which cover a decent range from low to moderate power.

The top power is a smidge stronger than my favorite non-wand vibrators (bullets, G-spot vibrators, rabbit vibrators). I can easily orgasm with the Wanda pressed to my clit. So if you enjoy the more moderate vibration strength of other types of vibrators, but prefer the way broad wands spread the vibrations out – the Wanda will likely do the trick for you.

VeDO Wanda Compared to Lower Powered Toys
The VeDO Wanda (far right) is slightly stronger than some of my favorite non-wands – (left to right: We-Vibe Tango X, Lelo Mona 2, We-Vibe Nova 2)

But there are cheaper wand vibrators with a similar power range like the Maia Zoe Dual-Ended Wand. And other comparably priced wands like the Magic Wand Mini and Dame Com have a similar power range with better performance in other areas.

And if you’re looking for exceptional power, the Magic Wand Plus will be a better fit in the same price range.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 6.4 6.8
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 35 Hz 48 Hz
Median Frequency 102 Hz 73 Hz
Frequency on High Power 117 Hz 85 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 7.6 5.9

We rate rumbly wands higher than buzzy wands since most people prefer rumbliness.

The Doxy Die Cast has excellent rumbliness on its lower power levels. But when you increase a wand’s power, its vibrations always become buzzier. And the Die Cast’s vibrations are extremely buzzy on its highest levels. These buzzy upper levels are what bring the wand’s overall rumbliness rating down.

But what you’ll experience depends on whether you’ll spend most of your time using the Die Cast’s moderate lower levels or its extreme upper levels. Since I only use the first two power levels, I enjoy deep, rumbly vibrations the entire time. But if you want a wand with many more rumbly settings, consider the We-Vibe Wand 2. Or the Orion Grande Wand is not as well-rounded but has exceptionally powerful rumbly vibrations.

But the Doxy Die Cast’s second setting has impressive rumbliness for how much power it packs! This setting’s vibration strength is 7.3 (out of 10). But it vibrates with more rumbliness than most wands with comparable power like the Le Wand Rechargeable, Viben Sultry, and others.

BMS PalmPower Extreme vs Doxy Die Cast - Vibration Power vs Frequency Graph

The third power level feels neutral: neither rumbly nor buzzy. And the rest of the Die Cast’s settings are buzzy! If you prefer extreme intensity with less buzziness, consider the BMS PalmPower Extreme. Its only slightly less powerful than the Doxy Die Cast, but it’s less buzzy.

If you’re like me and will usually stick to the moderately powerful settings, the Doxy Die Cast will be a lovely, rumbly wand for you.

Because most people prefer low-frequency, rumbly vibrations, I rate more rumbly wand vibrators higher than buzzy wands in this performance metric. However, vibration frequency is a personal preference. And some people enjoy vibrations more toward the middle or the buzzy (high-frequency) side of the spectrum.

So consider what you enjoy!

The VeDO Wanda’s vibrations range from extremely rumbly on low power, to neutral on high power. But because the first power level is fairly soft, you’ll likely use the top two power levels most often.

As a result, you can expect the VeDO Wanda to feel moderately rumbly to neutral most of the time. So it’s best if you enjoy vibrations more toward the middle of the spectrum. If you’re not sure what you enjoy it can also be good since it’s not too far to one side.

Lovense Domi vs VeDO Wanda vs Magic Wand Plus - Vibration Power vs Frequency Graph

Or consider something like the Magic Wand Plus which spans a broad range from extremely rumbly to moderately buzzy with ample power at each level.

If you’re in the majority and prefer mostly rumbly vibrations, you may want to invest the extra $10-$20 for the Lovense Domi. With a compact size like the Wanda, it has a much greater power range, and 90% of its power levels are extremely rumbly.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Waterproof Rating No Rating IPX7

The Doxy Die Cast is a great fit if you enjoy the broad stimulation a full-sized wand provides and like the extra pressure that a heavy wand naturally applies.

The Die Cast’s large head comfortably spreads the vibrations over a broad area. I feel its strong vibrations throughout my entire vulva. And the smooth silicone head has a bit of plushness to it, which makes it comfortable to press against my body.

This is also my heaviest wand massager. When lying on my back, the Die Cast’s weight naturally applies delicious pressure against my body with no need to leverage the handle myself. It automatically pushes the vibrations deeper into me for richer-feeling stimulation.

The heavy weight makes it more difficult to maneuver or make quick adjustments than smaller, lighter wands. But since the vibrations are exceptionally powerful, I don’t need to position the Die Cast very precisely. I can place it roughly near my clit and get plenty of stimulation! So I enjoy this wand’s additional weight. But if you have wrist or maneuverability issues, you may want a lighter, more compact wand like the Lovense Domi.

Weight and Size Comparison of Lovense Domi vs Doxy Die Cast
The Domi (left) is still very powerful, but easier to maneuver than the Doxy Die Cast (left)

The handle takes some effort to grip due to the width and overall weight. But it’s not a problem for me, since I’m not angling and leveraging the Doxy Die Cast like I am with smaller, less powerful wands.

The buttons are easy to use. Their silicone texture is comfortable – and there are separate buttons to increase and decrease power. Some wands only provide a single button to cycle through intensities.

It’s not waterproof, but you can remove the silicone head to clean it better.

Though its full-size and heavy weight makes fine-tuned maneuvering and positioning more difficult, it helps in other aspects like pressure. If you typically enjoy full-sized wands, the Doxy Die Cast provides an easy, comfortable experience overall.

The VeDO Wanda is fairly easy to use. The handle has a comfortably smooth, but grippy silicone which means it doesn’t slip around. The wand is fairly compact, so it’s easier to maneuver and adjust the Wanda’s position than it is with full-sized wands.

Plus it’s waterproof, which makes it very easy to clean. And you can take it into the tub with you.

But the VeDO Wanda has its downsides.

While a firm head is not always uncomfortable, I do think the VeDO Wanda would benefit from some squishiness. The Wanda’s pressure against my body gets a little uncomfortable over time.

VeDO Wand Head Plushness
The firm, tapered head of the VeDO Wanda (above) compared to the cylindrical, plush head of the Magic Wand Mini (below)
Magic Wand Mini Head Allows Broad or Focused Stimulation

And I don’t enjoy the tapered shape of the VeDO Wanda’s head. Though in theory, it could help you get more pinpoint precision, I found the taper made it difficult to press the vibes into my body. I prefer the more cylindrical shape and slightly squishy texture of wands like the Magic Wand Mini and Magic Wand Plus.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 7.0 8.0
Doxy Die Cast Fit in Tight Space
VeDO Wanda Fit in Tight Space
Spooning 7.5 8.5
Doggystyle 6.5 7.5
Modified Missionary 7.5 7.0
Cowgirl 6.5 9.0

Large and small wands each have pros and cons during partnered sex.

The Doxy Die Cast takes up a decent amount of space with its long handle and large head. So if you want to fit it into tight spaces, you have to be more intentional about how you position your bodies. For instance, to use the Die Cast in Cowgirl, I need to lean back slightly to fit the head closer to my clit. On the other hand, I can effortlessly maneuver a small wand like the Lovense Domi exactly where I want it during sex.

The Die Cast’s heavy weight also takes effort to hold to my clit in some positions – mostly in positions like Doggystyle where I’m holding the wand’s weight up. But its long handle actually comes in handy here – I can help support the weight of the wand by resting the base of the handle on the bed. I find this easy to do in Doggystyle and Spooning positions.

And in Missionary, I love the weight of the Die Cast. It naturally applies pressure on my vulva and adds to the stimulation I’m enjoying.

Doxy Die Cast Natural Pressure
The Doxy Die Cast adds natural, effortless pressure in this position due to the heavy weight

Strength is another aspect the Doxy Die Cast has going for it during sex.

Because the vibrations are so powerful, I don’t need to position the head as precisely as I do with a small wand. Pressing the vibrations just above or anywhere near my clit provides all the stimulation I need.

So it still works well during sex even with limited space. But you may need to experiment more to find ways of supporting its weight, or positioning your bodies that work for you. And the clit stimulation during sex will more likely be indirect since you won’t always be able to place the head right on your clit.

The Wanda works okay but not great during sex.

Its best performance is in the cowgirl position because the tapered head can slide into the right spots without getting in the way. And the smaller handle is easy to move around.

My main complaint that prevents it from scoring higher in all positions is that the head is a little too hard. Which can be fine for some wands. But the Wanda’s neck also has only a slight flex to it. So the combination of a stiff neck and hard head make it bump uncomfortably against my body with a lot of movement during sex.

While the tapered head helps the Wanda in Cowgirl, it actually hurts the score in Missionary. In order to get good clitoral contact from the tapered head, you have to angle the handle upward. And in Missionary, there is not enough room to do this.

VeDO Wanda Restriction During Sex
The tapered head of the VeDO Wanda requires angling the handle out, which does not allow room for a partner to face you

If your main goal is to find a good wand to use during sex, here are a few better recommendations:

  • Lovense Domi 2 – A medium-sized handle with a smaller head that can get into tight places and apply firm pressure.
  • BMS PalmPower Extreme – A larger wand that still works incredibly well during sex due to the way its head is angled from the handle.
  • Blush Noje W4 – A cheaper option that’s a little smaller than the Wanda with comparable strength. It has some downsides compared to the other two wands above, but it’s inexpensive and easy to use during sex!

Decibels on High Power 51.2 dB 44.5 dB
Audibility Behind Closed Door 4.0 10.0
Low Power Inaudible Inaudible
Middle Power Audible Inaudible
High Power Audible Inaudible
High Power with Box Fan Audible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

The Doxy Die Cast’s lower levels are discreet, but you’ll need to play music to mask its extremely powerful upper levels so any housemates don’t hear.

My partner cannot hear the lowest power when standing directly on the other side of our closed bedroom door. This power is still strong enough that I orgasm easily from it. And he can only hear the second setting (my favorite) if the house is extremely quiet and I’m moving the Die Cast around a lot so the motor’s sound keeps changing.

The third level and higher can be heard by someone standing right on the other side of the door. Extreme power is simply loud – every wand we’ve tried is audible in a silent house at that strength.

But there are solutions. I can use the Doxy Die Cast’s entire power range discreetly as long as I’m playing music in the bedroom.

The Wanda has an excellent, discreet sound level – good news if you live with others or noise distracts you.

Both its low and high powers are quiet. And during our testing, my partner could not hear any of the Wanda’s power levels from behind a closed bedroom door.

Part of the reason the VeDO Wanda is quiet is that it’s more moderately powered than some wands. Though it still packs a reasonable punch.

If you want more power while remaining discreet, the Viben Sultry has 1.5 times the power of the VeDO Wanda – and my partner could not hear it behind a closed door either.

Attachment Compatibility

Doxy Die Cast Compatible Wand Attachments

Number of Attachments Rating 10.0 3.8
Stimulation Variety 10.0 5.0

The Doxy Die Cast is one of many full-sized wands with excellent attachment compatibility.

Most attachments are designed for the Magic Wand Rechargeable and similarly-sized wands. Since the Die Cast’s head width is very close to the Magic Wand Rechargeable, the same attachments fit the Die Cast (Note – there may be some attachments that fit the Magic Wand, but not the Doxy. However, every attachment we’ve tested so far that fits the Magic Wand also fits the Doxy Die Cast)

You can find compatible attachments for a broad variety of stimulation. There are compatible attachments for G-spot, anal, prostate, clitoral, penis, and dual-stimulation. For a list of the attachments we’ve tested for compatibility with the Doxy Die Cast, see our wand attachment compatibility table here.

The VeDO Wanda is compatible with a few wand attachments including the Vixen Wanderer, Vixen Gee Whiz, and LuzArte Bubbles. Le Wand attachments also fit the VeDO Wanda – though there is excess room at the top because of the Wanda’s tapered head shape.

The attachments that fit best are all insertable (for G-spot, anal, or prostate stimulation). So only a limited range is available to you.

If you want a wand vibrator compatible with a broad range of attachments, full-sized wands are best. Several score a 10 for attachment compatibility including the comparably-priced Magic Wand Plus!

Compatibility with Wanda 8.0 7.5

I test my wands with the Axis and Wanda mounts from Liberator. These wand mounts hold your massager so you can play hands-free.

The Axis and Doxy Die Cast work really well together! The handle slides in horizontally, tilting the wand slightly upward between your legs. I can lie comfortably on my stomach across the mount, straddling the head to receive clitoral stimulation.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

These two pair well together because the Die Cast’s handle is fairly thick, so the wand stays wedged firmly in place. It does not shift around like some thinner wands. And I don’t need to intentionally position my body to keep the wand in contact with my clit – its large head naturally reaches my clit and provides comfortable, broad pressure and excellent stimulation.

The Wanda holds your wand in a mostly upright position. Then you’ll straddle the wand and mount – either kneeling or leaning forward onto your elbows and knees (like in Doggystyle). Some shorter wands allow you to lower your weight and sit directly on the mount. But full-sized wands like the Doxy stick out too far for that.

The Doxy Die Cast’s head is positioned at an excellent height when you’re positioned on your elbows and knees. The tall head provides a broad surface area making it easier to keep the wand in contact with your clit. And the slight lip where the side of the Die Cast’s head transitions to the top provides a more focused surface I can use for direct pressure!

Wand mounts hold your vibrator and free your hands – alone or during sex (my favorite way to use them).

We test our wands’ compatibility with Liberator wand mounts – the Axis and Wanda (yes, the mount has the same name as this wand vibrator). So I’ll go ahead and use their full names when referring to them.

The VeDO Wanda gets a 9 for mount compatibility. Not perfect, but certainly above average.

When using the Liberator Axis, you lie face down along the mount. The Axis holds the VeDO Wanda between your legs, and the head’s side broadly stimulates your clit. This works especially well for effortless stimulation during sex from behind.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

In this position, the VeDO Wanda provides plenty of vibes. Though I especially love using curved wands with the Axis because they provide even better clitoral contact and pressure. The BMS PalmPower Extreme is one of my favorites.

The Liberator Wanda mount holds your wand more upright. Since the VeDO Wanda is shorter than full-sized wands, its head sits only slightly above the mount which is easier to grind on! You can sit on the larger end of the mount and lean or grind against the vibrating head.

VeDO Wanda with Wand Mount in Use
The VeDO Wanda wand in the Liberator Wanda Mount – best used while sitting

Or you can flip the mount around and bend over to provide room for penetration. In this case, the VeDO Wanda’s shorter size makes it a touch more difficult to use – you’ve got to keep your body low enough to be in contact with the wand, but high enough to create space for penetration.Whereas taller wands like the Viben Sultry don’t require you to get so low.

But the VeDO Wanda is doable if you’re up for some flexibility.
If good mount compatibility is a nice bonus to you, the VeDO Wanda will work well. If it’s a huge priority, my favorite wand to use with Liberator’s mounts is the BMS PalmPower Extreme.

Battery Life & Power Source

Battery Life Rating N/A 10.0

Power Source Plug-In Rechargeable
Battery Life on High Power N/A 185 Minutes
Can Be Used While Plugged In NA No
Charging Cable NA Round Plug
Cord Length 10 feet N/A

The Doxy Die Cast is a plug-in wand, so technically you have unlimited battery life. You don’t have to worry about charging it beforehand – it’s always ready to go.

But you do have to use it near an outlet. The cord is 10 feet long though, so there’s plenty of room. I never feel restricted.

The Doxy Die Cast also comes with adapters for UK, EU, US & AU power sources.

The VeDO Wanda lasts for about 185 minutes on high power the whole time! So about 3 hours, and longer if you use the lower power levels too.

It’s one of the longest lasting wand vibrators we tested. Most people will find its battery-life is more than enough. But if you want an extra hour in there, try out the Magic Wand Rechargeable

Or if you want a wand that never needs to charge, try a plug-in option like the Doxy Die Cast or Magic Wand Plus! You just need to play near an outlet.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 7.5 9.0

The Doxy Die Cast’s build quality is somewhat controversial.

Its aluminum-titanium handle and weighty head look and feel luxurious. The substantial weight and heavy-duty materials make it feel durable. I’ve had my Doxy Die Cast since October 2022, and I’ve had no issues with it so far. Everything is still functioning exactly as it did the day I got the Die Cast, and I like the heavy-duty feel.

Doxy Die Cast Wand Shape Photo

However, when reading through customer feedback, I see split experiences. Some people say they’ve had it for years without issue:

“I have the die cast and the 3 and they have lasted with heavy use for 3 years going on 4! Love them and my partners rave about the deep vibrations they provide.”

“I’ve had mine for 2+ years”

-Reddit Users’ Experiences

“My last Doxy lasted three years, good value for money!”

-Lovehoney Customer Feedback

While others say their Doxy Die Cast broke within a year:

“We are on our third in a year. Luckily Lovehoney keeps swapping them without issue. Great when it works!”

-Reddit User’s Experience

“We have gone through three of these now (2 of these die cast and one of the original plastic ones), they seem to last about a year then they completely give up.”

-Lovehoney Customer Feedback

It seems issues are most commonly experienced by people who apply substantial pressure.

“I have made my way through 6(?) Doxy Die Casts in 5 years. I am an intense user – long sessions and a lot of pressure.”

“My honest thought here is that there’s been no engineering iteration that took feedback from multi-orgasmic people (longer play sessions) or people who require heavy pressure.

“The angle my mrs sits on them, whilst in a liberator toy mount, puts too much pressure on it.”

-Reddit Users’ Experiences here and here

I’ve had no issues with mine since 2022. I will update this Doxy Die Cast review if I ever experience an issue. The Doxy Die Cast also has a one-year warranty. By that time, you’ll likely know if the way you typically use the wand can damage it.

The VeDO Wanda is almost entirely covered in smooth silicone, which feels very high-quality. Overall it’s well-made and seems very sturdy, even when applying firm pressure.
