Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 9.5 6.3
Power Range Rating 9.0 6.6
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The BMS PalmPower Extreme is one of the most powerful rechargeable wand vibrators.

At a 9 out of 10 top strength, only a small handful of wands, like the Magic Wand Plus, Magic Wand Waterproof, and the Doxy Die Cast, are comparable.

BMS PalmPower Extreme with Magic Wand Plus Magic Wand Waterproof and Doxy Die Cast
The BMS PalmPower Extreme, alongside some of the other strongest wands I own. From left to right: BMS PalmPower Extreme, Magic Wand Plus, Magic Wand Waterproof, and the Doxy Die Cast.

I usually orgasm on the PalmPower Extreme’s second level, rarely using the third, and almost never the top power because it’s so immense. But power queens and kings will love these upper settings.

The lowest setting’s 2 out of 10 strength is excellent because I need these softer vibrations for a warm-up. I’m not ready for the second level’s strength immediately, so I spend considerable time on the first level.  This setting is impactful, warming me up without feeling overwhelming. Then, I switch to the second level and usually finish there!

You can also access a broad range of power levels spanning between the 4 default settings by using PalmPower’s incremental control. By holding the plus or minus button, the wand’s power will slowly and gradually change power. When it reaches your desired strength, release the button.

With its wide power range from soft to extreme and the ability to gradually step through levels, most people will find something they enjoy.

The Bodywand Aqua Massager is one of my weaker wands. It’s only a good option for those who prefer soft stimulation.

Its strength is similar to the middle power levels on many of my non-wand vibrators. The highest power is just enough for me to orgasm, but I prefer more strength.

Smaller vibrators with this power are often enough for me, since their vibrations are more focused. But the Bodywand Aqua’s wide head spreads the soft vibrations over a broad area – making it feel too weak and diffuse.

Bodywand Aqua and Toys with Similar Strength
Smaller toys that are actually stronger than the Bodywand Aqua (left to right: We-Vibe Tango X, Lelo Mona 2, We-Vibe Nova 2)

I usually prefer sex toys that offer a gradual increase in intensity, so I like that the Bodywand Aqua provides 6 intensity levels. But with this wand, I just skip straight to the highest power before it does anything for me.

You can do better than the Bodywand Aqua at this price. Both the Blush Noje W4 and Maia Zoe are more powerful and less expensive. And two of my favorite wands with greater power, the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand and Magic Wand Mini, are about the same price as the Bodywand Aqua.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 7.8 4.4
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 45 Hz 67 Hz
Median Frequency 71 Hz 90 Hz
Frequency on High Power 87 Hz 104 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 7.7 2.7

The BMS PalmPower Extreme’s frequency range is right in my sweet spot, ranging from extremely rumbly to neutral. The lowest level is extremely rumbly – part of what makes it an excellent warmup level that’s not overstimulating. And the second level (my favorite) is moderately rumbly. To me, this is the perfect combination of the comfortable, deep impact that comes from rumbliness, and the bit of a “zing” that extremely rumbly vibrations are sometimes missing.

As you increase power, a wand’s frequency always becomes less rumbly, and the PalmPower Extreme’s top two levels are neutral. But it doesn’t cross into the buzzy range as other comparably powerful wands like the Magic Wand Plus, Magic Wand Waterproof, and Doxy Die Cast do. But if you value a bit better rumbliness, you may enjoy the We-Vibe Wand 2 more.

Overall, the vibration feel and frequency of this wand contribute to it being one of my favorites!

We rate wands with rumbly vibrations higher than those with buzzy vibrations since most people prefer the deeper feeling they give. But some do prefer buzzy vibrations – so choose based on what you enjoy!

The Bodywand Aqua is a fairly buzzy wand vibrator. It only has one power I consider moderately rumbly. But it’s the softest setting, so I rarely use it. Because this wand massager is fairly weak, you’ll likely spend most of your time on its highest settings – and these are all moderately buzzy.

Because these vibrations are buzzy, they feel less impactful to me. Unless you know you prefer buzzy vibes, you’ll likely want to choose another wand.

The Magic Wand Mini (a personal favorite) and Maia Zoe are more rumbly wands at comparable prices.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating 9.2 7.0
BMS PalmPower Extreme Comfort And Ease of Use
Bodywand Aqua Comfort And Ease of Use
Handle Comfort 9.0 9.0
Head Comfort 9.0 8.0
Easy Positioning & Pressure 9.0 7.4
Controls 9.5 9.0
Easy Cleaning 10.0 10.0
Waterproof Rating IPX7 IPX7

Though this wand has the power and broad head of a full-sized wand, the PalmPower Extreme is more compact and lighter making it easy to maneuver like a mini wand. The weight feels balanced in my hands and the silicone-backed handle is comfortable to grip.

Most importantly, the angled head is not a gimmick, as I thought it might be before using this wand. It helps me leverage the wand more easily and apply pressure while keeping my hands in a comfortable position. I value comfort, so this was a major benefit for me.

Unlike the Magic Wand Rechargeable’s plush silicone, the PalmPower Extreme’s head is firm, yet still comfortable since the neck has some flexibility; But not too much that applying firm pressure becomes difficult. It’s an excellent balance.

BMS PalmPower Extreme vs Magic Wand Plush Head Comparison

The buttons are easy to feel and press without looking. There are separate buttons to increase and decrease power, so you don’t need to cycle through intensity levels. The incremental control is great for accessing power levels beyond the 4 default settings. Hold the plus or minus button to gradually change the power and release it when it reaches a level you enjoy.

And it’s the only wand this powerful that’s fully waterproof – so cleaning it is easy.

I reach for this wand very often, because it provides a great, comfortable experience, with excellent vibrations!

Though the Bodywand Aqua is not difficult to use, it has some inconveniences.

First, it’s battery-operated – not rechargeable. This means you need to keep AA batteries on hand and this cost adds up. So although the Aqua seems budget-friendly, it’s really more expensive than comparable rechargeable wands. And you can’t simply recharge it when it dies – you’ve got to find some AA batteries or head to the store.

When I’m using the Bodywand Aqua, it feels as though most of its weight is in the handle, rather than the head. So the wand’s balance tips the head away from you instead of pressing it deeper into you.

Center of Gravity Inconvenient on BodyWand Aqua
The Bodywand Aqua’s weight tips away from the head, which makes applying pressure awkward

You can also feel the vibrations in your hands. Since it’s pretty weak, it’s not too distracting. But many wands dampen vibrations in your hands better.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 9.6 8.0
BMS PalmPower Extreme Fit in Tight Space
Bodywand Aqua Fit in Tight Space
Spooning 9.5 8.0
Doggystyle 9.5 7.0
Modified Missionary 10.0 9.5
Cowgirl 9.5 7.4

This wand is in my top two for use during sex (and my favorite to use with a wand mount for hands-free sex).

While its head isn’t tiny like mini wands, it’s slimmer and smaller than full-sized wands. So it still fits well between bodies and in tight spaces during sex. And since its vibrations have a substantial impact, precisely positioning this wand isn’t necessary to get the clit stimulation I need.

The angled head is especially helpful during sex. The head’s angle rests between my legs while the handle lies comfortably parallel along my body. So the handle does not stick out or get in the way, preventing me from leveraging the wand as a straight handle can – this is especially beneficial in positions facing each other like Missionary or Cowgirl.

Missionary Wand Angle Easier with Angled Handle
The BMS PalmPower can stay close to my body during sex because of the angled head unlike tall, straight handles

The handle is also compact but still has enough length that you can rest the base on your bed to help support the wand in certain positions like Spooning or Doggystyle. If you plan to use your wand regularly with a partner, this is an excellent choice.

The Bodywand Aqua works fairly well during sex.

Its compact size makes it fairly easy to maneuver and apply pressure. But for a short wand, its head is large. So it takes up more space than other small wands like the Lovense Domi 2 or Maia Zoe.

And it’s one of the heaviest compact wands. So it can still get tiring, especially in Doggystyle. I need to reach far back with its short handle, and hold the Aqua’s weight up between my legs.

Its neck has the right amount of flexibility though – not so much that applying pressure is difficult; But not too little that its firm head becomes uncomfortable.

However, the Bodywand Aqua’s soft, buzzy vibrations just don’t provide much impact for me during sex.

I prefer compact wands with more strength or rumbliness like the Lovense Domi 2 and Magic Wand Mini.

Noise

Noise Rating 5.9 7.8

Audibility Behind Closed Door 4.0 6.0
Low Power Inaudible Inaudible
Middle Power Audible Audible
High Power Audible Audible
High Power with Box Fan Audible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

As an extremely powerful wand, the BMS PalmPower Extreme is not one of the quietest options. It’s discreet on its lower levels, remaining inaudible behind a closed door. But my partner could hear its middle and upper settings during our testing.

This is pretty typical for a wand this strong. If you plan to use its highest settings while others are home, you may need to play music to remain discreet. Though I typically orgasm on its lower levels which are quieter.

Note: The sound levels recorded in the video and measurements above were taken before the Build Quality issues developed. For a listen into the BodyWand Aqua’s sound now, see the video here

During our testing, the Bodywand Aqua had relatively low decibel readings. However, in practical use, my partner can hear it behind a closed bedroom door beginning at its middle power level.

The main problem is that this wand has developed a strange rattling sound that consistently pops up when I’m using the Bodywand Aqua. When it rattles, it’s loud and distracting.
For a more discreet wand in the Aqua’s price range, consider the Magic Wand Mini. It’s a bit more powerful, more rumbly, and remains inaudible behind a closed door on all power levels.

Attachment Compatibility

Attachment Compatibility Rating 5.4 5.4
BMS PalmPower Extreme Compatible Wand Attachments
Bodywand Aqua Compatible Wand Attachments
Number of Attachments Rating 3.3 3.3
Stimulation Variety 7.5 7.5

The BMS PalmPower Extreme has limited compatibility with wand attachments. Its head is mid-sized, so it’s incompatible with attachments designed for full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable. There is an insertable (G-spot, anal, or prostate) attachment designed specifically for this wand, but it’s a little flimsy.

However, attachments designed for the Le Wand Petite also fit the BMS PalmPower Extreme. These attachments cover a broad variety of stimulation and are high quality. If you want to explore wand attachments for this wand, I’d recommend Le Wand’s. Head to our full wand attachment compatibility table for the full breakdown of attachments we’ve tested.

The Bodywand Aqua is compatible with a limited range of wand attachments.

The attachments designed for the Le Wand Petite fit the Bodywand Aqua too. These cover a fairly broad range of stimulation including clitoral, G-spot, anal, prostate, and dual-stimulation. So you can likely find something to enjoy.

The PalmPower Extreme’s G-spot attachment also fits the Bodywand Aqua. But this doesn’t contribute much since Le Wand offers several G-spot attachments of higher quality.

Compatibility with Wanda 10.0 7.5

I test all my wands with the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts for hands-free play. The BMS PalmPower Extreme’s angled head makes it my favorite to use with both (solo and during sex).

The Axis holds the wand at a slight upward angle between my legs as I lie on my stomach across the mount. I can rest in this position and orgasm solo, or my partner can enter from behind – my favorite way to use this wand! Hands-free sex using the Axis and PalmPower Extreme combo has become a go-to move for my partner and me.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
My typical position when using the Liberator Axis mount (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

In this position, the head’s upward angle positions it closer to my clit than a straight wand and applies additional pressure. I don’t need to adjust my body to maintain contact as I do with other wands. The angle sets this wand apart and makes all the difference if you love firm pressure!

It also has the best versatility in the Liberator Wanda since I can face its angled head two different directions. One direction raises the head which is excellent when I’m on my hands and knees which requires greater height. This position works really well during sex. The other direction places the head just above the fabric. This lets me straddle the mount and sit directly on it, leaning forward or backward to vary the stimulation.

Two different ways to angle the BMS PalmPower Extreme in the Liberator Wanda mount

Overall, the BMS PalmPower Extreme is extremely versatile with mounts, and does a great job at keeping firm, consistent contact with my body for excellent stimulation. It’s my favorite for hands-free play.

I test my wands with my Liberator mounts – the Axis and Wanda. The Bodywand Aqua works well with both.

Its medium length is perfect for the Liberator Wanda. The Aqua’s head sits just above the fabric of the mount so you can easily lower your weight onto the wand. By leaning forward or backward you can vary the Aqua’s pressure and stimulation –  and because its head is so broad, it stays in contact with your clit easily.

Bodywand Aqua Used with Wanda Mount
The Bodywand Aqua can be used in the Wanda mount in a sitting position.

The Bodywand Aqua also has excellent compatibility with the Liberator Axis. Even though I usually prefer curved wands in this mount, the Bodywand’s head is broad enough that it reaches my clit and applies good contact and pressure. The Aqua’s handle is also a good width for the Axis. It fits easily and is thick enough that it does not shift around during use.

If you’re ok with the low power of this wand, it can be a good fit for hands-free play. It’s the cheapest wand that works well in mounts.

Wand In Use with Axis Overlay
Curved or angled wands work best with the Axis mount because they apply firmer pressure (demonstrated with BMS PalmPower Extreme)

But one of my personal favorites to use with mounts is the Dame Com, and this is only about $20 more. The Com’s curved handle makes it excellent at applying firm pressure. And it’s deep, rumbly vibrations are more impactful.

Battery Life

Battery Life Rating 8.4 5.9

Bodywand Aqua 3 AA Batteries Power Source Photo
Power Source Rechargeable (3) AA Batteries
Battery Life on High Power 108 Minutes 250 Minutes
Can Be Used While Plugged In No NA
Charging Cable USB-C NA

In our testing, this rechargeable wand lasted 108 minutes continuously vibrating on its max power. This is slightly above average, though there are longer-lasting wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable if that’s a big priority.

Unlike many wands which use proprietary chargers, the BMS PalmPower Extreme simply uses a USB Type C cable, so it’s easy to replace if you lose it.

The Bodywand Aqua uses 3 AA batteries. During our testing, it lasted 250 minutes continuously running on its highest power. And then…

Time to buy more batteries.

This expense adds up – a rechargeable or plug-in wand is much more cost-effective. There are many comparably-priced rechargeable wands with better overall performance. Or you could spend more on the wand itself with the money you’ll save on batteries.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 10.0 2.0

This wand has an excellent build. The combination of a silicone-backed handle with a solid plastic front feels very sturdy and comfortable. The motor is excellent quality – the only one this powerful that does not become buzzy.

The head’s neck flexes a good amount without feeling flimsy – I can apply firm pressure without worry. And the silicone-coated buttons are easy to feel and comfortable to press. And its waterproof rating makes sure it won’t be damaged while cleaning.

The Bodywand Aqua has below-average build quality. The handle’s plastic feels somewhat cheap and you can really feel the vibrations in your hands.

The Aqua has also developed a rattling sound within our first 6 months of using it, and this rattling has gotten worse over time. Though the motor still vibrates, this makes us think its overall build is less durable than other wands.

In addition, this wand takes AA batteries instead of being rechargeable or plug-in, which at this point is the industry standard for quality vibrators. We’ve also had the batteries get lodged in the handle, and they can be difficult to remove.
