Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 6.9 9.3
Power Range Rating 6.4 6.4
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Blush Lush Gia has a really enjoyable power range for the price – as long as it’s on sale for under $50. It has power levels similar to one of my favorite premium wands, the Magic Wand Mini, but at a lower price.

The wand end begins softly at a 1.7 out of 10 strength. I enjoy this warm-up level – it’s comfortable and helps me get in the mood without feeling overstimulated.

There are three power levels, maxing out at 4.7 out of 10 vibration strength. This is still slightly stronger than what you’d experience from a typical non-wand vibrator. It’s plenty of power for me to orgasm easily and reliably.

Those seeking a budget wand for more extreme power will be happier with the Orion Your New Favorite Wand, which reaches a 6.7 out of 10. Anything more powerful will require increasing your budget.

The Blush Lush Gia’s G-spot end is less intense but still enjoyable. Its strength is more comparable to a mini or bullet vibrator. But it’s more impactful than the other dual-ended wand we’ve tested (the Maia Zoe). So for those looking for a combination wand, the Blush Lush Gia’s power makes it a better choice.

The Maia Nala has an exceptional top strength but a mediocre power range. It’s best for those who prefer strong to extreme intensity.

First, there’s one odd aspect to note – since you can use the Nala cordless or plugged into the wall, its power range is slightly different depending on which way you use it. Plugged-in gives everything a slight power boost. I actually enjoy this oddity because I can choose whether to use it plugged in or not based on how much power I’m in the mood for.

https://vimeo.com/1030076532
Listen to the sound of the Maia Nala’s vibrations in this video. You can hear the boost in power when I plug the Nala in.

When unplugged, the top strength reaches a 7.9 out of 10, which is plenty for me. I typically stick to the first couple settings. And it’s even stronger when you plug it into the wall, reaching a strength of 8.5 out of 10. Very few wands have more power, and very few people will need more.

The power range is mediocre though – it starts at a strength of 5.8 when unplugged or 6.2 when plugged-in. Although it skips over soft and moderate settings, I find its starting levels comfortable since they’re extremely rumbly. But if you’re especially sensitive to overstimulation, you may want a wand with a softer beginning setting, like the Magic Wand Plus, Magic Wand Rechargeable, or BMS PalmPower Extreme. But I find the Nala’s vibrations comfortable and effective.

Maia Nala with Magic Wand Plus and Magic Wand Rechargeable and BMS PalmPower Extreme
The Maia Nala (first wand) with softer beginning powers: Magic Wand Plus (second), Magic Wand Rechargeable (third), and BMS PalmPower Extreme (fourth)

In fact, if you look at the graph of the Maia Nala’s and the famous Magic Wand Rechargeable’s vibrations below, you can see the two wands provide a similar experience – the Nala is just missing the Magic Wand’s gentlest settings. So, if you don’t need those settings, the Nala is a cost-effective alternative.

With 5 settings spanning the power range, steps between levels are also gradual and comfortable.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 6.4 7.6
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 53 Hz 54 Hz
Median Frequency 79 Hz 74 Hz
Frequency on High Power 93 Hz 94 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 5.7 7.7

We rate wands with rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because most people prefer it. But preferences vary, so consider what you enjoy!

The Blush Lush Gia is not exceptionally rumbly, so if that’s your main priority, the Gia is not for you. However, its vibration levels span a versatile range with some rumbly and some buzzy levels.

The wand end’s first setting is impactful and rumbly. Then the middle and top levels feel neutral and moderately buzzy. Since I enjoy neutral and even buzzy vibrations (as long as they’re not overwhelmingly powerful), I really like the Gia. And if you’re unsure what frequency you want, the Lush Gia provides a range of options to experiment with and learn what you enjoy!

The Blush Lush Gia’s G-spot end ranges from neutral to extremely buzzy. I like more rumbly vibrations on my G-spot, so I don’t use the Gia internally often. But it’s still enjoyable and is my best dual-ended option.
If rumbliness is your priority, the Satisfyer Wand-er Woman is slightly more expensive – but it’s the cheapest wand with exceptional rumbliness.

We rate rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because it’s what most people prefer. The Maia Nala has great rumbliness.

The first setting (whether plugged in or not) feels extremely rumbly. These deep vibrations feel more diffuse and travel deeper into your body than buzzy vibrations. I find rumbly vibrations are great for a warm-up, so even though the Nala’s first setting is strong, I still find it very comfortable.

The middle power levels feel moderately rumbly to neutral. And the top strength feels neutral when unplugged or moderately buzzy when plugged in. I happen to love neutral-feeling and buzzy vibrations since they carry more of a kick at the surface-level that I often enjoy. But if you prefer rumbly vibrations, you can stick to the Maia Nala’s first few settings or consider a more rumbly wand like the Lovense Domi 2.

But I like that the Nala gives you a lot of variety to enjoy.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating 8.5 8.0
Blush Lush Gia Comfort And Ease of Use
Maia Nala Comfort And Ease of Use
Handle Comfort 7.5 7.5
Head Comfort 10.0 7.0
Easy Positioning & Pressure 9.5 8.0
Controls 7.0 9.0
Easy Cleaning 9.0 10.0
Waterproof Rating IPX6 IPX7

The Blush Lush Gia is very comfortable and easy to use, although its controls are basic.

One of my favorite things about it is the curved handle, which makes it very easy to leverage without tiring your wrist. You can feel the vibrations in your hand when the wand end is on high power, but I don’t find it distracting. And the handle width and curve provide a comfortable grip.

The small head (1.6 inches wide) fits easily between your legs for direct or indirect clit stimulation. And the flexible neck makes it great for those who enjoy firm pressure. The moderate flexibility keeps the pressure comfortable but does not detract from the amount of pressure you can apply.

Each motor has its own button to cycle through that motor’s 3 power levels and 4 patterns. I prefer a control system with separate buttons to increase and decrease strength. But there are only a few patterns, so cycling through them isn’t a huge pain point.

The Maia Nala is a comfortable full-sized wand that’s easy to use.

The controls are easy to use – two buttons allow you to increase or decrease strength, and a third lets you cycle through patterns. You can even adjust the intensity of each pattern. The vibrations start on the constant setting every time you turn the wand on. So if you accidentally switch to a vibration pattern and don’t want to rotate through all the others, you can just turn the Nala off and back on – this is one advantage it has over the comparably-priced Viben Sultry.

Maia Nala Control Buttons
The control buttons on the Maia Nala

I often have to look at the handle when I adjust the intensity because the buttons don’t have a distinct feel. But the level of control they provide is excellent, and they don’t take up too much space on the handle. So you have plenty of room for your hands to get a comfortable grip. I can feel the vibrations a bit in my hands, but they’re subtle, and I don’t find them distracting.

The solid, long handle is easy to leverage. This makes it great for applying pressure without wrist strain. And the Nala is lighter than most full-sized wands, so it’s easy to maneuver.

Firm Head of Maia Nala compared to Plush Head of Magic Wand Plus
The firm head of the Maia Nala (left) compared to the plush head of the Magic Wand Plus (right)

The large, firm head can bump into you a bit on the lower, more rumbly settings. However, the slightly flexible neck helps keep this comfortable unless you prefer very firm pressure. In which case, you may want a wand with a more plush head like the Magic Wand Plus.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 9.5 8.3
Blush Lush Gia Fit in Tight Space
Maia Nala Fit in Tight Space
Spooning 10.0 9.0
Doggystyle 8.0 10.0
Modified Missionary 10.0 7.0
Cowgirl 10.0 7.0

The Blush Lush Gia is excellent during sex. Its handle and head are slim, which helps it fit easily and comfortably between your bodies. The curved handle also helps you leverage the wand for pressure more easily – even in a limited space.

I can keep excellent contact with my clit for enjoyable stimulation in all positions, but the Gia excels in Spooning, Modified Missionary, and Cowgirl positions. Doggystyle also works well, but since it’s not a very tall wand, you can’t prop the base against the bed, so it can get tiring to hold after a long time.

The Maia Nala is great to use during sex.

The large head makes it most comfortable and effective in positions where you’re not facing your partner, like spooning or doggystyle. In these positions, there’s plenty of space in front of you to get the head close to your clit, and the broad head stimulates your entire vulva. And there is plenty of space in front of you to maneuver and angle the wand’s handle however you’d like. I can also prop the handle against the bed if my arm gets tired.

Maia Nala Handle Propped Against Bed
You can prop the handle of the Maia Nala against the bed if your arm gets tired

In positions where space is more crowded, like cowgirl and modified missionary, you can’t fit the Nala’s large head in as close as you can with smaller wand heads. And it may bump against your pubic bone more during heavy movement. However, the strong, rumbly vibrations travel far, so you can still get great stimulation even without the Nala’s head in direct contact with your clit.

But if positions where you’re facing your partner are a priority, a wand with a smaller head like the Lovense Domi 2 or an angled head like the BMS PalmPower Extreme is better.

Audibility Behind Closed Door 8.0 4.0

High Power Audible Audible
High Power with Box Fan Inaudible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

The Blush Lush Gia has passable noise levels.

During our noise testing, I could use both motors’ first two power levels in my room without my partner hearing it behind the closed bedroom door. But he heard the 3rd level of each motor.

If you’re worried about housemates overhearing, a box fan easily drowns the noise out. Or you can stick to the first two settings. The third setting could be annoying if you’re sensitive to sound since it’s a higher-pitched buzz.
If sound is one of your main concerns, the VeDO Wini is a comparably priced wand with better noise levels.

The Maia Nala has disappointing noise levels. My partner could hear it on every power level while standing on the other side of our closed bedroom door. Considering the strength, this isn’t too surprising, and you can easily drown out the sound by turning on a box fan or playing music.

I don’t personally find the vibration noise annoying. But if you live with housemates and need something more discreet, consider the Viben Sultry. It reaches a close strength to the Nala but was inaudible to my partner on all but the top couple settings.

Attachment Compatibility

Attachment Compatibility Rating 5.0 7.1
Blush Lush Gia Compatible Wand Attachments
Maia Nala Compatible Wand Attachments
Number of Attachments Rating 2.5 5.4
Stimulation Variety 7.5 8.8

The Blush Lush Gia has poor attachment compatibility compared to most. Its head is smaller and slimmer than most wand vibrators. So only a couple of my wand attachments consistently work – the Lovense Domi attachments. One is a clit and G-spot attachment, and the other is for penis and prostate stimulation.

So you have options, but fewer than wands with large heads like the Orion Your New Favorite Wand.

The Maia Nala has reasonable compatibility with attachments.

The head is a tiny bit smaller than average full-sized wands and tapers down towards the base, which causes some attachments to slip off easily. However, I was still able to find a variety of attachments covering a broad range of stimulation types that fit the Maia Nala. Insertables were the most common attachments to fit, but you can review my wand attachment compatibility table here to see the specific attachments.

Compatibility with Wanda 8.5 10.0

The Blush Lush Gia has excellent compatibility with mounts for hands-free stimulation!

I test my wands with my Liberator wand mounts, the Axis and Wanda.

The Lush Gia does best with the Wanda mount. The Gia’s curved shape allows you to position the wand in multiple directions for a variety of stimulation. You can sit on the Wanda mount, straddling it for effortless, hands-free stimulation. Or you can kneel above the mount for clitoral vibrations during penetration from behind.

The Lush Gia works great in the Axis mount, too. You can lay over this mount on your stomach while the Gia curves upward between your legs. That curve helps to provide firm pressure and clitoral contact that straight wands often can’t achieve. It’s very comfortable and stays in place well.

I test my wands with the Liberator Axis, and Wanda mounts for hands-free stimulation. The Maia Nala has fantastic compatibility with both mounts.

In the Axis, the larger head provides good pressure for consistent contact to transfer the vibes well. And since the vibrations are so rumbly in the first half of the settings, they travel far and are really impactful.

The Wanda holds the wand at a great angle to kneel over during penetration from behind. The broad head comfortably distributes pressure, essential when you’re going hands-free. You can also sit directly on the mount since the head is positioned just above the fabric, which is a really comfortable position.

Battery Life

Battery Life Rating 4.5 5.3

Power Source Rechargeable Rechargeable or Plug-In
Battery Life on High Power 45 Minutes 53 Minutes
Can Be Used While Plugged In No Yes
Charging Cable Magnetic Pin
Cord Length N/A 6 feet

The Blush Lush Gia has a disappointing battery life. During our test, it lasted only 45 minutes with its wand end continuously vibrating on high. You can extend that time by using the lower and middle power levels, but you’ll want to charge this one frequently.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly wand with a longer battery life, try the Orion Your New Favorite Wand, which lasted over an hour and a half on high.

The Maia Nala is both a rechargeable wand and a plug-in wand.

When using it unplugged for our battery life test, it lasted 53 minutes vibrating on its highest power which is below average. However, for most people that won’t be a big deal because you can always plug it directly into the wall to power it instead. You never have to wait for its battery to charge.

The Maia Nala has an automatic shutoff after 30 minutes of continuous use to protect its motor from overheating. If you run into the automatic shutoff, it won’t let you turn it back on for 15 minutes which can be annoying. You could bypass this 15 minute rest period by turning the Nala off and back on before the 30-minute shut off is triggered, but the shutoff is in place to protect the wand.

G-Spot End

The Blush Lush Gia has a G-spot vibrator on the opposite end from the wand. It’s an excellent addition for those who have never tried a G-spot vibrator and want to give it a whirl.

The shape is flexible, which helps with comfort, and the upward curve efficiently targets and presses on my G-spot. It’s best for those who enjoy a slightly girthy feel. If you don’t want much of a stretch, smaller G-spot vibrators like the Pillow Talk Racy G-spot bullet are better.

The Lush Gia’s G-spot vibrations are very buzzy. When it comes to internal vibrations, I prefer a rumbly feel like the vibes on the We-Vibe Nova 2 or Pillow Talk Sassy, so I don’t use the Gia for internal stimulation often.

But it’s certainly a fun bonus, and great for exploring what you like with just one vibrator purchase. And the G-spot stimulation is far better than the other dual-stimulation wand I’ve tested – the Maia Zoe.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 7.0 7.4

The Blush Lush Gia has adequate build quality. The silicone has a high-quality feel, and the weight makes it seem sturdy. The buzzy G-spot motor sounds and feels a bit cheap, but the wand end is better.

Since it’s so flexible on both ends of the toy, it feels a little flimsy, but I don’t expect that bending it will damage it, and it hasn’t yet!

The Maia Nala has a fair build quality. But it’s a mid-budget wand, so it doesn’t feel super luxurious. The handle is light plastic, which can feel a little cheap but still seems sturdy. And no extra weight in the handle keeps it easy to maneuver quickly.

I don’t typically like the pin-hole charging ports like the Maia Nala has, but it hasn’t caused any issues, and the wand is fully waterproof (when unplugged – never submerge it while plugged in). The slightly flexible neck feels sturdy, and I’m not afraid to apply pressure with this wand.

Maia Nala also has an impressive 10-year warranty when you register your wand here.
