Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 3.0 9.5
Power Range Rating 5.1 5.7
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Bellesa Demi Wand has 8 power levels that are all very close together and low-powered. They’re not at all what I expect from a typical wand vibrator. Demi’s power range is much more comparable to the low and middle power levels of a small bullet vibrator.

Toys Stronger than Bellesa Demi
Toys with higher power compared to the Demi – Left to right: Bellesa Demi, Lovense Ambi, We-Vibe Tango X, Lelo Mona 2, We-Vibe Nova 2 and Magic Wand Rechargeable.

And I actually find the Demi is less powerful than my favorite bullets like the Lovense Ambi and We-Vibe Tango X (which also outperform the Demi in other aspects). So even if you are only looking for bullet-level vibration strength, I would go with one of those instead.

While I can orgasm with the Bellesa Demi Wand, it’s much easier with one of my bullets.

And if you want the typical enormous power wand vibrators are famous for: the Magic Wand Plus is in this same price range and has 6x the strength of the Bellesa Demi!

The Doxy Die Cast R has an exceptional top vibration strength, but a poor power range.

It’s tied with the BMS Palmpower Extreme and Magic Wand Waterproof as my most powerful rechargeable wand, and its intensity is second only to the corded Doxy Die Cast. But all the vibrations feel strong or extreme – there are no gentle or moderate starting powers to use as a warmup. If you’re sensitive to overstimulation, you’ll probably need to use another vibrator first or consider a wand with a broader power range, like the PalmPower Extreme and even the corded Doxy Die Cast.

The Doxy Die Cast R with BMS PalmPower Extreme Magic Wand Waterproof and Doxy Die Cast
The Doxy Die Cast R with other comparably strong wands. From left to right: Doxy Die Cast R, BMS PalmPower Extreme, Magic Wand Waterproof, and Doxy Die Cast.

As someone who prefers moderate stimulation, I find the Doxy Die Cast R’s first setting decently comfortable without a prior warmup – but only if I press it very firmly against my body. Doing so slows down the motor and makes it feel less intense. And when I use the Doxy Die Cast R, I never make it past the first setting because I don’t need any more strength.

But it’s excellent for anyone who exclusively needs enormous power. The very first setting with a 7.33 out of 10 strength will meet you at the intensity you want, without having to tap through lower power levels first. And its top strength of 9 out of 10 will be more than enough for the average user. Only the corded Doxy Die Cast is stronger, but it’s hardly a noticeable amount.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 4.2 6.1
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 50 Hz 86 Hz
Median Frequency 86 Hz 105 Hz
Frequency on High Power 106 Hz 118 Hz
Power and Frequency Balance 2.0 7.1

We also test and rate how rumbly or buzzy each wand vibrator is.

We award wand vibrators with more rumbly vibrations a high score in this category since most people prefer rumbly vibrations. But some people prefer more neutral or even buzzy vibrations – so a low score in Vibration Frequency may not mean a wand is a bad choice for you.

In fact, some of my favorite vibrators (like the Lovense Hyphy) are very buzzy. So it really depends on what you enjoy!

The Bellesa Demi’s lowest three power levels are actually in the rumbly range. But since this wand is so low-powered, I mostly use the highest powers.

Dame Com vs Lovense Domi 2 vs Bellesa Demi Wand - Vibration Power vs Frequency Graph

And the three strongest settings are definitely buzzy. Other small wands like the BMS Swan Era have much more powerful, rumbly settings.

Even if you enjoy more neutral or buzzy-feeling vibrators, I’d still recommend a higher-quality bullet like the Lovense Ambi which offers a nice mix of buzziness and rumbliness.

But if you’re like most people, and want something deep and rumbly – the Lovense Domi 2 and Dame Com are some of the best wand vibrators with extremely rumbly vibrations.

We rate rumbly wands higher than buzzy wands since most people prefer this. However, it’s up to your personal preference.

The Doxy Die Cast R is a buzzy wand vibrator, so it’s best if you enjoy vibrations that target more at the surface. None of the settings feel rumbly. The gentlest setting has a neutral feel, and everything stronger is moderately to extremely buzzy.

While the corded Doxy Die Cast is comparably buzzy on its upper settings, its lowest two settings are rumbly. So it provides a more versatile experience than the rechargeable. If you want some rumbly settings too, I’d consider the corded Die Cast or the BMS PalmPower Extreme.

The Doxy Die Cast R’s motor slows down and can feel softer and more rumbly when pressed very firmly

One unique aspect I’ve found is that the Doxy Die Cast R’s motor slows down quite a bit if I press the head firmly against my body. By slowing the vibrations down, they approach a more rumbly feeling. I personally enjoy how I can alter the intensity and rumbliness by varying the pressure I apply. If you don’t necessarily need rumbly settings but still enjoy them, you may like experimenting with the Die Cast R’s pressure to find something that feels great to you.

Others will prefer something steadier regardless of the pressure applied. While the corded Doxy Die Cast’s motor is also slightly affected by how hard you press, it’s a much less noticeable effect than with the rechargeable version.

I found the Bellesa Demi Wand to be one of the least comfortable and more difficult wands to use.

It’s certainly not painful – none of my wand vibrators are. It’s just designed poorly for comfortable, longer sessions.

It’s a very small wand, which means you have to reach farther to place the Demi in the right spot. Whereas mid-sized and larger wands have a nice handle you can gently hold with minimal reach.

Bellesa Demi Reach vs Longer Wand Reach
The Bellesa Demi requiring a farther reach than tall wands like the Viben Sultry overlayed.

But the Bellesa Demi Wand’s extremely flexible neck is the main reason this vibrator is difficult to use. I like to press my vibrators firmly against me – it helps push the vibes deeper! But when you apply pressure with the Demi Wand, its head just flexes away.

If you want to press the Demi with any force, you need to place your fingers on the head itself and push it against you.

Bellesa Demi Neck Flexibility vs Firm Dame Com Neck
The Bellesa Demi (right) with a very flexible neck compared to the mostly stiff neck of the Dame Com (right).

You can’t simply use the handle to leverage the vibrator as you can with less flexible wands like the Dame Com. Or even rigid bullet vibrators like the Lovense Ambi and We-Vibe Tango X.

The Doxy Die Cast R is comfortable and easy to use for a heavy, full-sized wand.

This wand’s substantial weight both positively and negatively affects the wand’s comfort. Anytime you use it with the wand’s head pointed down (like on your back), the heavy weight adds excellent natural downward pressure. So you don’t have to leverage the wand with your arm or wrist much. But this also makes it slower to maneuver and can be tiring when you’re holding the wand up – which happens more frequently during sex than solo use.

Doxy Die Cast R Head Compared to BMS PalmPower Extreme Head
The large head of the Doxy Die Cast R (left) compared to the smaller head of the BMS PalmPower Extreme (right)

The large, round head provides a really broad, comfortable surface area in contact with your body. Though it’s trickier to limit contact to a precise area than with a smaller head. The head’s silicone is slightly plush, which feels comfy and luxurious. And the neck has a bit of flexibility, which keeps it comfortable when applying firm pressure.

The handle is a comfortable size to wrap my hand around, and its cast aluminum construction does an excellent job of preventing much vibration in the handle itself – keeping them focused at the head. I typically hold the wand close to the head because the weight distribution is best there. With that grip, my fingers aren’t near the buttons, so I don’t accidentally press them. Though I need to adjust my grip to change the setting, but I don’t find it distracting.

The controls are simple to use and get you to your preferred setting quickly, with separate buttons to increase or decrease the power. You can turn on the pulsing setting by pressing and holding the power button. The two “+” and “-” buttons also allow you to adjust the speed (not intensity) of the pulses.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 7.6 7.6

Doxy Die Cast R Fit in Tight Space
Spooning 9.6 7.5
Doggystyle 6.0 9.0
Modified Missionary 7.4 7.0
Cowgirl 7.4 7.0

I do find the Demi Wand reasonably easy to use during sex.

The small head and compact size help it fit easily between my partner’s body and mine. I enjoy it decently in Cowgirl, Spooning, and Modified Missionary positions.

Doggystyle is the only position that using the Demi wand is just plain bad. Because it’s so small, you have to reach far to keep the head pressed to your clit – and in a position like Doggystyle where you’re also supporting your own body weight, reaching this far gets tiring.

And in every position, a major drawback is that you can’t get firm pressure because of the extremely flexible neck.

If you want a small wand with better pressure, the Blush Noje W4 is another mini wand that I enjoyed much more during sex. It’s easier to leverage, and it’s cheaper! Or you could go with a bullet like the Lovense Ambi.

Bellesa Demi Wand Flexibility Photo
The Blush Noje W4 (below) allows for more firm pressure than the extremely flexible Bellesa Demi Wand (above).

If you have the budget, the BMS PalmPower Extreme has an angled head that provides incredible pressure and helps the wand fit well between bodies during sex – even with its larger size. It gets almost perfect scores in all 4 positions! And since it’s larger, it offers much more vibration power.

If you typically have sex in Doggystyle, I find medium-length or long wand vibrators are best. The Lovense Domi 2 is one of my favorites in this position!

The Doxy Die Cast R is good to use during sex.

It’s best in positions where you’re not facing your partner because there’s plenty of space in front of you to maneuver the handle without it bumping into your partner. So you can easily position the Die Cast R wherever you need it.

The broad head keeps the wand in consistent contact with your clit and distributes the pressure evenly so the vibrations travel well. In Spooning and Doggystyle positions, the handle is long enough to rest against the bed to help prop the wand at a good angle. So your arm doesn’t get tired despite the substantial weight.

When you’re facing your partner, you have to get a little more creative with your body’s positioning – possibly leaning back to open up more area for the large head to fit closer to your clit. Thankfully, the vibrations are powerful enough that they are impactful, even if the head is nearby instead directly in contact with your clit. Because the head is so large, it can get pressed into your body with a lot of heavy movement, which can be a bit uncomfortable at times but is not a major issue.

Doxy Die Cast R Head Compared to BMS PalmPower Extreme Head
The Doxy Die Cast R’s large head (left) compared to the BMS PalmPower Extreme’s smaller head (right)

But if face-to-face positions are a priority, a wand with a smaller or angled head, like the BMS PalmPower Extreme, is better.

Demi Lovato’s Bellesa wand is definitely very quiet.

It has one of the lowest decibel readings on both low and high power. And when my partner and I tested whether someone can hear it behind a closed door, the Demi wand remained inaudible on all power levels.

But the main reason it’s so quiet is that the Demi is very low-powered. If you want something stronger that remains discreet, the Magic Wand Rechargeable or Lelo Smart Wand 2 Large are both only audible behind a closed door on the highest power level. And each has the substantial vibration power people associate with wands.

The Doxy Die Cast R is quite loud.

When we tested whether my partner could hear it from behind our closed bedroom door, he heard every setting. Even after I turned on a box fan in the bedroom my partner still heard the Doxy Die Cast R’s top setting – although he noted that then he could only hear it when I moved the wand around, and he said he’d definitely have to actively listen for the sound to notice it.

Playing music in the bedroom successfully prevented him from hearing the wand on any setting.
If you have housemates and/or discretion is important, the Magic Wand Plus is a comparably powerful wand that was inaudible at least on the lowest power setting. And both a fan and music mask the noise.

Attachment Compatibility

Number of Attachments Rating 0.8 10.0

The Bellesa Demi is compatible with very few attachments. Of the more than 25 wand attachments we own, it’s only compatible with Lovehoney’s Queen G (a G-spot attachment designed for the Lovehoney Deluxe Mini Massage Wand)

Most attachments are designed for full-sized wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable (among others). While most attachments fit a range of wands, very few are designed to fit tiny heads like the Bellesa Demi’s. If you value attachment compatibility, consider the Magic Wand Plus or Rechargeable.

The Doxy Die Cast R has fantastic compatibility with wand attachments.

Most attachments are made for full-sized heads like this one. In my collection, I found many that fit, providing a wide variety of stimulation types. You should have no trouble finding plenty of options.

We test our wands with the Liberator’s wand mounts – the Axis and Wanda. These mounts are designed to hold your wand vibrator so you can enjoy hands-free clit stimulation.

Unfortunately, the Demi wand is too small for either mount. As with wand attachments, wand mounts are designed for mid to full-sized wand vibrators.

Medium or Large Sized Wands in Mounts
Large/medium sized wands in mounts – the Dame Com (left) and BMS PalmPower Extreme (right)

If you value hands-free play – the BMS PalmPower Extreme and Dame Com are my favorites to use with both wand mounts. They have an angled head or a curved handle, which helps them provide better pressure and clitoral contact when held in the Liberator Axis mount. And more angles to try in the Wanda mount.

We test our wands for hands-free stimulation using the Liberator Axis and Wanda mounts.

The Doxy Die Cast R works wonderfully with both mounts.

In the Liberator Axis, the large, round head provides plenty of surface area to press against comfortably. At 2.5 inches, its head is wider than most, which helps it reach your clit more easily than most straight wands. The strong vibrations travel well to provide great stimulation hands-free. The handle stays securely wedged in the mount.

In the Liberator Wanda, you can kneel above the mount for hands-free stimulation solo or with penetration from behind. The head sticks up quite a bit past the fabric, so you can’t sit directly on the mount as you can with some short wand vibrators. But it provides excellent stimulation when kneeling over it. The broad, tall head is great at distributing pressure evenly so you can comfortably lean against it.

Battery Life

Bellesa Demi Wand Magnetic Charging Case Photo

Power Source Rechargeable Rechargeable
Battery Life on High Power 55 Minutes 75 Minutes

Charging Cable Charges in Case with Micro USB Round Plug

The Bellesa Demi wand has a pretty short battery life. I test all my wands’ battery life by charging them fully – then letting them run on high power until they die.

The Demi Wand lasted only 55 minutes. And since it’s pretty low-powered, most people will be cranking it on high the whole time – so there’s not much room to extend the battery life by mixing in lower strengths.
If you value longer play sessions the Lovense Domi will give you at least two hours of play. Or the Magic Wand Rechargeable lasts over 4 hours!

The Doxy Die Cast R is rechargeable and has a decent battery life, lasting for 75 minutes on its highest power in our test. Considering this wand’s enormous strength, that’s a reasonable battery life.

There is an automatic shutoff after 20 minutes of continuous use, but you can turn it back on immediately. You cannot use the Doxy Die Cast R while it’s charging (very few wands allow that – the Magic Wand Rechargeable is one that does).

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 7.0 8.5

The silicone on my Demi Wand has a nice texture and feels high-quality.  I’ve not had any issues with it breaking, though the neck is very flexible, and I am a little suspicious that it won’t have the longest life. Because it has very weak vibrations, you’ll likely be pressing and bending this wand very hard, so it has to take some wear and tear.

The Doxy Die Cast R has great build quality.

The cast aluminum handle feels very sturdy, and the slightly flexible neck feels strong, so I’m not afraid to apply pressure. The silicone head is slightly plush, which feels comfortable and high-quality. It feels well-made and luxurious.

The motor does have a slight waver at times, where it will dip or raise by 1 or 2 Hz. I can hear the waver (listen below), but it doesn’t impact my experience – I can’t feel this slight difference.

The slight waver in the motor, which you can hear, but it’s not really felt in the vibrations during use

I want to note that when we purchased the Doxy Die Cast R, the first one we received arrived with a defect. It would shut off randomly despite having a full charge, and the power would dip substantially. These issues were noticeable immediately upon using the toy (not something that developed over time). We believe something likely happened during shipping.

We contacted Doxy support right away, and they replaced it quickly. We had to send a video showing and explaining our issue and then cut the charging cable. They sent a new product within 3 business days of our initial email. And our new product has worked great.

Our rating for build quality is based on the undamaged wand we received. Doxy also has a 2-year warranty when you register your wand for free on their site.
