Vibrations
The Lelo Lyla remote controlled vibrator is primarily meant to be worn internally to provide G-spot stimulation. While wearing the Lyla, all the vibrations are internal - no clit stimulation. Though you can treat it like a 2-in-1 and hold it on your clit for external stimulation.
If you’re looking for a wearable vibrator that gives clit stimulation, a panty vibrator like the Lovense Ferri may be a better fit.
Since you won’t be using your hand to provide any extra pressure most of the time, naturally good vibes are crucial.
Vibration Power
So, how strong are these vibes going to get for you? The Lyla’s vibrations are mid-powered and are best for people who prefer milder stimulation.
The Lelo Lyla reaches a bit more than half the power of my strongest egg vibrators. This means that for most people, it will provide a tease. It likely won’t lead to any G-spot orgasms on its own.
I found the Svakom Ella Neo had a really similar vibration power range at a much cheaper price as well.
I noticed others mentioning that the Lyla was surprisingly weak compared to other Lelo toys. And I have to say, I agree. One of my favorite toys is the Lelo Mona because it’s so strong.
The Mona is a hand-held G-spot vibrator that you can also use clitorally. I’m a big fan of its strong power. And my partner’s strongest prostate massager is the Lelo Hugo - so I expected more power from the Lelo Lyla.
If you find your G-spot extra-sensitive or feel easily overstimulated, the Lyla would be a better fit for you than it was for me!
If you want power, the Lovense Lush 3 and VeDO Kiwi are the two strongest wearable egg vibrators I’ve found.
Rumbly or Buzzy
Vibrators can fall anywhere on a spectrum from a rumbly feel to a more buzzy feel. And the best balance is all up to your personal preference!
Buzzy vibes tend to be efficient at hitting a particular spot with focused stimulation. They tend to stay mostly surface-level.
I personally enjoy buzzier vibrations for toys that I use clitorally.
Rumbly vibrations are sort of the opposite. They give a more thumpy feel that stimulates a broader area and travel deeper into your body.
Rumbly vibrations are my personal preference for G-spot vibrators.
The Lelo Lyla happens to be about as buzzy as you can get. Since I prefer rumbly egg toys, this was a let-down for me. But if you’re a fan of that buzzy feel, you’ll be very pleased with the Lyla’s vibe-feel!
If you love rumbly toys for internal use like me, the We-Vibe Jive and the VeDO Kiwi have the most rumbly vibrations.
Noise Level
Something the Lyla has going for it - it’s exceptionally quiet.
This is one of the few egg vibrators a partner may not hear even while in the same room of your house.
I run all my wearable toys through some vigorous testing. Because I want to make sure I can feel comfortable wearing them in public!
I tested the sound levels with the remote’s vibration mode turned off. I explain how to do this in the Remote Control Features section. If you are using this toy in public, I recommend turning the remote’s vibrations off - they are noisier than the vibrator.
I run a decibel test in a silent room that averages about 30dB with the occasional bird-chirp or breeze. I wear each toy and measure its noise on the lowest and highest power.
The Lyla’s lowest power rang in at about 32 dB, and the highest was 40dB.
Now for those who don’t speak in decibels:
I also wear each egg vibrator out to three different places. My partner comes with me and lets me know as soon as he can hear anything.
Sitting less than 5 feet away at a brewery, he could not hear my toy at all. And at a coffee shop, it was still completely undetectable.
Anywhere with a small amount of ambient background noise the Lyla will remain discreet.
Our last test was at home in a silent house with no AC or heat on. He sat about 10 feet away here. I was always able to use the Lyla up to about 75% of its power without my partner hearing it. From 75% to 100% power, sometimes my partner could hear it.
Overall, the Lelo Lyla is one of the quietest options. It's one of the few options that can go unnoticed in the same room of a house for much of its power range.
Be aware: sometimes you can pass along the feel of the vibrations if you’re sitting on the same couch with someone. So stick to your own chair!
But otherwise, if you’re going for peace of mind based on noise, the Lyla is a very quiet toy for discreet public play!
Remote Control Features
The Lelo Lyla has some unique features and modes available through the remote that make it easier for a partner to control your toy.
The remote can even vibrate in sync with the Lyla, so a partner truly understands what you’re feeling. They’re not simply clicking a button and guessing how it affected your toy.
Since there are a lot of available features and only a few buttons on the remote, accessing all these features can feel a bit complex.
If simplicity is more of your thing, I’ll save you some time with some alternatives. The VeDo Kiwi is a remote-controlled egg vibrator with simpler controls. And the Lush 3 is my favorite app-controlled toy that is easy and intuitive to control.
Ok here it is. The Lyla has three different control modes available to you.
SenseMotion Mode 1 lets you control the vibes' strength by tipping the remote up or down.
This is a helpful feature if you want to stay in the moment instead of fiddling with buttons. Whether you’re out at a restaurant and don’t want to keep looking at the remote, or having fun at home. This feature lets you quickly take it from 0 to 60.
SenseMotion Mode 2 lets you make the vibes stronger or weaker by shaking the remote. Skip to this mode by clicking the toy’s middle button once.
I find this mode tiring, so I don’t use it myself. But one customer said their partner liked to attach the remote to his wrist so his strokes would stimulate her as well. So you can definitely get creative with it.
To get to Mode 3 (traditional control), click the middle button again. Now, you’ll be able to cycle through 6 different preset patterns on the toy. You can also raise or lower the intensity of each of them.
There’s only one button to cycle through patterns and SenseMotion modes. So it can be difficult to memorize what you’re supposed to click to get what you want. And if you miss the type of vibe-control you want, you have to cycle back through everything again.
Thankfully, there are increase and decrease power buttons, so you can quickly raise and lower the intensity without cycling.
One neat and unique feature of the Lelo remotes is that you can feel the vibes that the toy is making on the remote too! This is nice because if you’re controlling the toy for your partner, you can actually tell what you’re doing for them.
With other remote controls, your partner can’t tell how their button clicks affect your toy. So they may feel less involved or not control your egg vibrator as well.
The remote's vibrations do make noise, but you can turn off the remote’s vibration to remain quiet when necessary. To turn off the vibes on the remote only, hold down the remote’s middle button for 5 seconds.
If you turn off the remote’s vibes, I’ve found it best to either stay in SenseMotion mode or remain in traditional control. Cycling through the modes can turn the vibrations back on.
Bottom Line: Lelo Lyla Remote Control
Overall, the Lyla remote provides several unique control features like SenseMotion and a vibrating remote. These controls can help your partner control your toy better but can be tricky to figure out. It’s best for a night in rather than a night out.
If you prefer simplicity over advanced features, the VeDO Kiwi is one of my favorite remote-controlled alternatives. It provides straightforward controls and excellent vibes.
Connectivity
Toys you control with a physical remote typically maintain a reliable connection with the toy. But unfortunately, the Lelo Lyla seems to struggle with this.
That means you’ll be spending more time troubleshooting than with toys that score high in connectivity like the Lovense Lush.
Out of the ten most recent times I used this toy, I encountered a disconnect between the remote and toy 2 of those times. Sometimes, it disconnects within the first few minutes.
Out of 46 customer reviews on the Lyla that I scanned, 23% of people mentioned issues with connectivity such as the customer below who said:
The remote just stops connecting to the vibrator, so he thinks he's making it more intense, but actually it's not doing anything
Lovehoney Customer Feedback
Others had a positive experience with connectivity.
To date we have not had any connective issues between the remote control and the vibrator itself. We would highly recommend.
Lovehoney Customer Feedback
But in my opinion, the connectivity is less reliable than most other egg vibrators I tested.
The real kicker for me is that this toy does not re-pair automatically. And the button needed to pair it is on the toy inside you. So you cannot reconnect unless you take the toy completely out.
As a result, the Lelo Lyla is more disruptive during a disconnection than other egg vibrators.
But when the connection is stable, the Lyla and its remote can actually be pretty far away from each other.
When I ran my distance test, the Lyla maintained communication with the remote up to 107 feet apart. But I’ve also encountered it disconnecting while inches apart for no known reason.
Bottom line: This toy’s unreliable connectivity makes it less ideal for public play. If you have the patience and environment that would allow you to troubleshoot, then you may be ok with it.
But I would recommend going with a toy that has a reliable connection from the start. One of my favorites for this is the Lovense Lush 3. The Lush connects very quickly and stays connected!
Comfort
The Lyla is one of the most comfortable egg vibrators I’ve found. The exceptional comfort, paired with its long battery life, make it a good option for people who want to enjoy playing for extended periods.
I tested this egg vibrator laying, sitting, standing, walking, and squatting - all were comfortable!
Since this toy is not very girthy, it’s one of the easiest eggs to get in! Its shorter height also means it doesn’t put any uncomfortable or distracting pressure near the vaginal opening. It sits comfortably right up on your G-spot.
It’s hardly noticeable when it’s not buzzing, which I loved. Some people may actually want to feel extra pressure from a bit of girth. If that’s you, the Lush 3 is probably the better option since it’s more filling.
The Lelo Lyla didn’t get a 10 for comfort, only because the little pull-string on the end can move around or sit in awkward places. But it wasn’t too much of a bother. Especially if you’re not going to walk around too much with this toy.
If you want a toy that’s very comfortable and almost unnoticeable, the Lelo Lyla is great!
Battery Life
I fully charged all my egg vibrators and let them run as long as they could on high power. I checked in on them every 10 minutes to see when they died.
The Lelo Lyla had the longest battery life of all the eggs I tested! It lasted for over three hours on high power! So it’s a great option for extended sessions.
That being said, part of the reason it lasts longer than other toys is that it has lower-powered vibes.
One of the strongest eggs I have is the Lush 3, and it lasted a little over two hours on high. So the Lush is a great choice for people who want a blend of solid power with a long battery.
Because you occasionally need to troubleshoot the Lelo Lyla’s connection, I don’t recommend it for a night out, even though it has an excellent battery. You don’t want to be heading to the bathroom to remove, re-pair, and re-insert the toy.
But for a long evening of teasing and foreplay with your partner at home, the Lyla can be a good fit.
While the Lyla itself is rechargeable, its remote is battery-operated. It takes two AAA batteries which you’ll need to keep on hand.

Lelo Lyla Review Results
I think the Lelo Lyla is a great toy if you:
- Prefer lower-to-mid powered vibes to avoid overstimulation
- Enjoy buzzy-feeling vibrations
- Want a very quiet toy you can wear in places without much background noise
- Want a remote-controlled toy that provides good feedback to a partner
- Don’t mind trading off simplicity for helpful remote-control features like motion control and a vibrating remote that helps your partner know what you’re feeling
- Want a toy that remains especially comfortable, even for more extended periods
- Want the longest battery life possible
I think an alternative egg vibrator might be better if you:
- Are on a tighter budget
- Want an egg vibrator with the most powerful vibrations
- Prefer rumbly-feeling vibes for your G-spot toys
- Want the ability to play with a long-distance partner via an app
- Don’t want to spend time learning the ins and outs of a complex remote
- Value reliable connectivity
- Want your toy to easily re-pair if you experience a disconnection
- Like to feel girthy pressure with your G-spot toys
The Lelo Lyla is best for people who prefer mid-powered vibes, and want a physical remote to control their toy. And one that gives a partner feedback on what you’re feeling. It’s the only egg vibrator that has this ability. While app-controlled egg vibrators let your partner see what you’re feeling. The Lyla allows your partner to feel what you’re feeling.
Other remote-controlled egg vibrators don’t give any feedback to the controlling partner at all.
The long battery life and comfortable wear might also make it a good fit for people looking for long foreplay sessions. However, the inconsistent connectivity and involved reconnection process mean that it’s probably better for play at home. Not discreet play in public.
If you are hoping to wear your egg vibrator in public, an option with more reliable connectivity is the Lovense Lush 3! This one has also has more vibration power. It’s also app-controlled, so it has even more control features available.
If the high price-tag on this toy is a deterrent, the VeDO Kiwi is a more budget-friendly option. The Kiwi is also remote-controlled but has a more rumbly feel and stronger vibrations.
