The We-Vibe Tango X is one of the most famous and well-loved bullet vibrators for its rumbly motor. It’s an upgraded version of the original We-Vibe Tango, which has been discontinued. The Tango X improves on the original in a few ways: it has 8 intensity levels covering the same power range instead of 4. It has a more comfortable silicone grip but maintains the original’s smooth ABS plastic body and lipstick shape.

The Tango X also has 2 separate buttons to increase and decrease power and another button to cycle through the 6 vibration patterns. In contrast, the original Tango used a single button to cycle through all its settings. The We-Vibe Tango X is waterproof for easy cleaning, has a travel lock to keep it from accidentally turning on, and comes with a silky storage bag. It comes in cherry red or midnight blue colors.

Compare Bullet & Mini Vibrators

Want to only see products that fit your needs and budget? Filter this table by performance and price using our comparison table tool here.

The We-Vibe Tango X is one of the best bullet vibrators available, especially for people who value deep, rumbly vibrations. It’s much more rumbly than other bullet and mini vibrators, including the We-Vibe Touch X. It has excellent performance in every aspect except noise, which is still decent.

The main reason to consider something else is if you don’t prefer very rumbly vibrations. If that’s you, consider the We-Vibe Touch X for moderate rumbliness, the Lovense Ambi for more neutral vibrations, or the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet for buzzy vibrations. Otherwise, the Tango X is outstanding.

Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating: 7.9
Power Range Rating: 8.0
Power vs Frequency Graph:
How Strong Is Each Power?

The We-Vibe Tango X has an excellent power range that provides gentle, moderate, and strong power levels. It begins with 2.5 out of 10 vibration strength. The comfortable soft settings are great while warming up or for those overstimulated by intensity.

The upper power levels are strong, reaching a 7.75 out of 10 strength. I easily orgasm with the Tango X but typically use its top setting. There are some with more extreme power, like the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet or BMS Swan Maximum Bullet, for those who crave immense intensity. But I don’t personally need more strength than the Tango X provides.

We-Vibe Tango X and We-Vibe Tango
The We-Vibe Tango X (left) is the newer and improved version of the original We-Vibe Tango (right) with 8 power levels instead of 4

The Tango X has improved on the original We-Vibe Tango in that it has 8 power levels instead of 4. So, the new model covers its power range more completely with many gradual steps between intensity levels. You can work up to its top power very slowly. Or if you’re easily overstimulated, you have many gentle or moderate power levels to enjoy.

Most people will enjoy the We-Vibe Tango X’s vibrations. Few bullets have as wide a range of power as this one.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating: 9.5
Power vs Frequency Graph:
Frequency on Low Power: 40 Hz (Extremely Rumbly)
Median Frequency: 50 Hz (Extremely Rumbly)
Frequency on High Power: 58 Hz (Extremely Rumbly)
Rumbliness & Power Balance: 9.5

The We-Vibe Tango X is the most rumbly bullet vibrator I own. This is one of the main reasons to consider this bullet.

Its rumbliness is especially impressive considering the Tango X’s strength. Vibrators become buzzier as you increase power. But even its top setting (7.75 out of 10 power) measured at 58 Hz in our test results, which is extremely rumbly. No other bullet besides the Tango X and Tango had more than 5.0 vibration strength while remaining under 60 Hz (our threshold for the “extremely rumbly” range).

We-Vibe Tango X with Pillow Talk Racy and Lovense Ambi
The Pillow Talk Racy (left) has a more neutral feel, and the Lovense Ambi (right) has a moderately buzzy feel compared to the We-Vibe Tango X (top)

Now, rumbliness vs buzziness is a personal preference. Although most people prefer rumbly vibrations, some want neutral or even buzzy vibes. If that’s you, consider the Pillow Talk Racy if you like neutral vibrations or the Lovense Ambi for moderately buzzy vibrations.

The We-Vibe Tango X is the best if you’re like most people and want those deep-feeling, rumbly vibrations. If you enjoy larger toys with more extreme power, you could also consider the We-Vibe Wand 2 – one of my best wand vibrators with exceptionally rumbly vibrations.

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision: Precise
We-Vibe Tango X Typical Tip Width Photo
Head or Tip Width: 0.69 inches
Tip Shape: Lipstick

The We-Vibe Tango X provides focused stimulation due to its thin width (0.69 inches) and lipstick-shaped tip. The lipstick tip comes to a fine edge that you can use to target the vibrations into an exact area.

Rumbly vibrations travel deep into the body and feel like they naturally impact a more significant area, so limiting the contact to a particular spot is nice.

If you want slightly broader stimulation, you can use the long side of the Tango X to spread out the contact area more.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating: 10.0
We-Vibe Tango X Comfort and Ease of Use Photo
Grip Comfort: 10.0
Controls: 10.0
Easy Leverage & Pressure: 10.0

The We-Vibe Tango X is an exceptionally comfortable and easy-to-use bullet.

It has better controls than other bullet vibrators. Unlike most bullets, which offer a single button to cycle through all the intensity levels and patterns, the Tango X has separate buttons to increase and decrease power; and a third button to move through its vibration patterns.

The three buttons allow you to quickly access your desired intensity or pattern and avoid annoying disruptions searching for your favorite power level.

The rigid form makes it easy to leverage and apply pressure even with its average length. I love the silicone grip on the handle, and the vibrations do not travel much into my hand, so it’s very comfortable.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating: 9.5
We-Vibe Tango X Maneuverability in a Tight Space Photo
Spooning: 10.0
Missionary: 9.0

The We-Vibe Tango X is awesome during sex! The rumbly vibrations travel deep into your body, so you don’t have to worry about placing the bullet in a precise spot. The thin, focused tip lets you easily slip the Tango X into tight spaces, and it maintains good contact wherever you place it.

I like that the Tango X is a bit longer than the original Tango because it makes for a more comfortable grip. You don’t need to pinch the end with your fingers; the handle has more space to sit comfortably in your hand so you can leverage the Tango X more easily.

We-Vibe Tango X and We-Vibe Tango Height Comparison
The We-Vibe Tango X is a bit taller than the original We-Vibe Tango

This length also helps to limit how far you have to reach during sex. But it’s not so long that it bumps against my partner’s chest or gets in the way.

Noise

Noise Rating: 6.4
Audibility Behind Closed Door: 4.0
Decibels on High Power: 43.1 dB
Decibels on Low Power: 35 dB
Low Power: Audible
Middle Power: Audible
High Power: Audible
High Power with Box Fan: Inaudible
High Power with Music: Inaudible

The We-Vibe Tango X’s noise performance is mediocre and may be disappointing if you’re especially worried about discretion. But there are ways to make it completely unnoticeable.

When measuring the Tango X’s noise with a Sound Level Meter, the Tango X’s vibrations measured quieter than the average bullet vibrator. However, when I hold the Tango X loosely in my hand, it will occasionally make a rattling sound that my partner can hear while standing on the other side of our closed bedroom door.

When you press the Tango X to your body or grip the bullet more firmly, the rattling does not happen. And the rumbly vibrations themselves are inaudible from the other side of the closed door. If you don’t want to be distracted focusing on keeping the Tango X pressed to your body, you can turn a box fan on or play music in the bedroom. Both options successfully masked the rattling sound so my partner could not hear it outside the bedroom.

We-Vibe Tango X and We-Vibe Touch X
The We-Vibe Touch X (right) is quieter than my We-Vibe Tango X (left)

The We-Vibe Touch X is my quietest mini-vibrator if you’d like a more discreet option. Otherwise, the Tango X just takes a little creativity to prevent nosey housemates from hearing.

Battery Life

Battery Life Rating: 8.3
We-Vibe Tango X Charging Cable Photo
Battery Life on High Power: 105 Minutes
Power Source: Rechargeable
Charging Cable: Magnetic

The We-Vibe Tango X is rechargeable with one of the longest-lasting batteries of any bullet vibrator I’ve tested. It lasted 105 minutes on high power during our test – especially impressive considering its excellent vibration strength. The few bullets that lasted longer, like the Dame Zee and Satisfyer Ultra Power Bullet 5, are weaker than the Tango X.

It’s a great option if you forget to charge your toys between uses or enjoy long sessions!

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating: 9.0
We-Vibe Tango X Build Quality Photo

The We-Vibe Tango X has excellent build quality. The silicone handle and buttons are a nice improvement on the original Tango. The silicone adds some padding, which reassures me that it’s less likely to break if I drop it. And it adds a luxurious feel and grip.

Review Results

The We-Vibe Tango X is the best option for those who want extremely rumbly vibrations. It’s the most rumbly bullet vibrator I’ve tested, and it covers a broad power range with gentle, moderate, and strong intensity levels. So it has something for everyone.

We-Vibe Tango X on Silk
The We-Vibe Tango X

It performs excellently in every category we tested except for its mediocre noise. But you can easily mask its sound with a box fan or by keeping the bullet in contact with your body.

Consider the alternatives below if you prefer extreme intensity and buzzy vibrations or are on a tight budget. For those who love rumbliness, the We-Vibe Tango X is the best.

Compare Alternatives

FemmeFunn Booster Bullet

We-Vibe Tango X and FemmeFunn Booster Bullet

The FemmeFunn Booster Bullet is better if you prefer buzzy vibrations and want more extreme strength than the We-Vibe Tango X.

The FemmeFunn Booster has just 3 power levels compared to the Tango X’s 8. But its top setting reaches a 9.5 out of 10 vibration strength (23% stronger than the Tango X). It doesn’t start as gently as the Tango X, beginning instead at 4.75 out of 10 vibration power. But this medium-strength setting will still provide a good warmup for many people.

Unlike the Tango X’s rumbly vibrations, the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet is buzzy. While most people prefer rumbly vibrations, others enjoy buzzy bullets more. Choose based on your preferences.

This bullet does not have as convenient of controls as the Tango X, but it does provide more power at about the same price point.

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Vibrator

We-Vibe Tango X with BMS Swan Maximum Bullet

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is a better option than the We-Vibe Tango X if you prefer extreme intensity and buzzy vibrations.

These two start at the same gentle starting power, but the Swan’s highest setting has about 1.4x the Tango X’s power. Only the starting powers of the Swan feel rumbly; at middle and upper levels, it’s buzzy. Whether you’ll enjoy the Tango X’s extreme rumbliness or the Swan Maximum’s extreme buzziness is a preference.

The Swan Maximum’s extreme power makes it vibrate my hand quite a bit, so I find the We-Vibe Tango X more comfortable to use. But the Swan Maximum is about $30 cheaper, so it’s a good budget-friendly option if it fits your preferences.

We-Vibe Tango

We Vibe Tango and We-Vibe Tango X

The We-Vibe Tango X is an improved version of the original We-Vibe Tango. The differences are small, but helpful. The original is no longer available, so here’s how they compare if you’re considering upgrading or curious about the differences.

Both bullets are exceptionally rumbly and share the same power range (2.5 to 7.75 out of 10), but the Tango X divides that range into 8 intensity levels instead of the original’s 4. This means you can build up a little more gradually which some people will find more comfortable. The Tango X is also slightly more rumbly than the original, which is impressive since the original Tango was already one of the rumbliest bullets available.

The biggest quality-of-life improvement is the controls. The Tango X has three separate buttons to raise power, lower power, and change patterns. The original Tango forces you to cycle through every setting with a single button – at most 8 clicks to get back to where you were. The Tango X also adds a silicone grip and an extra half-inch of length, so it’s more comfortable to hold and easier to leverage during sex.

Both can rattle when not pressed firmly to your body, and the Tango X is slightly louder. The Tango X also has a slightly longer battery life (105 vs 95 minutes). These are all nice improvements, but the core experience – powerful, extremely rumbly vibrations – is very similar between the two. If your original Tango is still going strong, there’s no urgent reason to replace it.

Pillow Talk Racy

Pillow Talk Racy and We-Vibe Tango X

The Pillow Talk Racy and We-Vibe Tango X are both excellent bullet vibrators with the same top strength of 7.75 out of 10 and broad power ranges. Which is better depends on whether you prioritize extreme rumbliness or versatility and value.

The We-Vibe Tango X is the better choice if rumbliness is your top priority. It’s the most rumbly bullet vibrator we’ve tested – every setting from low to high stays deep and rumbly. The Racy is rumbly on most settings too, but its upper power levels cross into a neutral feel. The Tango X also has much better controls with three separate buttons to raise, lower, and change patterns, and a significantly longer battery life (105 vs 40 minutes). Its focused, lipstick-shaped tip delivers pinpoint stimulation. The main tradeoffs are that it’s about $25 more expensive and noticeably louder – it can rattle when not pressed firmly to your body.

The Pillow Talk Racy is better if you want a versatile, budget-friendly option. Its 5-inch handle and angled head make it one of the easiest bullets to grip and maneuver during sex, and unlike the Tango X, it doubles as a mini G-spot vibrator. It’s also exceptionally quiet – inaudible behind a closed door on all settings. Its press-and-hold control provides tiny, comfortable power increments, though you can’t lower the power one step – only double-click to return to the lowest setting and build back up. The short battery life is its biggest weakness.

Choose the We-Vibe Tango X for the deepest rumbliness, better controls, and long battery life. Choose the Pillow Talk Racy for G-spot versatility, ultra-quiet operation, and a lower price.

We-Vibe Touch X

We-Vibe Touch X and We-Vibe Tango X

The We-Vibe Tango X and We-Vibe Touch X are both excellent mini vibrators that reach a matching top power level of 7.75 out of 10 with rumbly vibrations – the main difference is how they deliver stimulation (spread out or focused).

Choose the We-Vibe Touch X if you want broad, comfortable stimulation and ultra-quiet operation. Its wide, contoured shape blankets more of your vulva, which is ideal if you’re prone to overstimulation. It’s also tied for the quietest mini vibrator we’ve tested. It’s undetectable on all power levels. The Touch X starts softer (1.5 vs 2.5 out of 10), so the warmup is even more gradual. Its plush silicone feels luxurious, though the palm-held shape is less intuitive to leverage for firm pressure than a traditional bullet.

Choose the We-Vibe Tango X if you prioritize extreme rumbliness and focused, pinpoint stimulation. It’s the most rumbly bullet vibrator we’ve tested – every setting stays deep and rumbly, whereas the Touch X’s rumbliness is more moderate (which I personally prefer). The Tango X’s thin, lipstick-shaped tip lets you target a spot very precisely, and the rigid handle makes it easy to apply firm pressure. It also has a longer battery life (105 minutes vs 85). The tradeoff is noise – the Tango X can rattle when it’s not pressed to your body, so it’s louder.

Both share the same great 3-button control system, and are slim enough to fit into tight spots during sex. Go with the We-Vibe Touch X if you want a premium, ultra-quiet vibrator that provides broad, diffuse stimulation, but choose the We-Vibe Tango X if you prefer the deepest possible rumbliness paired with focused, targeted contact.

Lovense Ambi

Lovense Ambi and We-Vibe Tango X

The Lovense Ambi and We-Vibe Tango X are both excellent bullet vibrators with similar power. The biggest difference is how the vibrations feel.

The We-Vibe Tango X is the most rumbly bullet vibrator we’ve tested – every setting stays deep and rumbly, even at its top strength. The Lovense Ambi is rumbly on its lower settings but crosses into moderately buzzy on higher powers.

Which you enjoy is personal preference. The Tango X’s deep rumbliness is what most people look for, but some actually prefer a bit of buzziness in a bullet (I like how the Ambi feels more personally) – it adds a surface-level kick that can make it easier to orgasm for some people. The Ambi’s mix of rumbly warmup levels and buzzier top settings gives you more variety in a single toy.

The Lovense Ambi is the better choice if you want app control or a design that fits easily during partnered sex. The Lovense app is the best of any brand – it provides granular vibration control, custom patterns, and reliable long-distance play. The Ambi’s angled shape helps it slip between bodies easily, and you can vary stimulation from moderately broad to focused. It’s also quieter and slightly stronger (8.0 vs 7.75 out of 10). However, its on-toy controls are limited – just one button cycling through 3 preset power levels, so you need the app to access the full range.

The We-Vibe Tango X is the better choice if you don’t need app control and value extreme rumbliness paired with better on-toy controls. It has three separate buttons to raise, lower, and change patterns, and nearly double the battery life (105 vs 55 minutes). Its focused, lipstick-shaped tip is great for precise stimulation. The tradeoff is noise – the Tango X can rattle when not pressed to your body.

Choose the Lovense Ambi for app control, a compact fit during sex, and a versatile vibration feel. Choose the We-Vibe Tango X for the deepest rumbliness, intuitive controls, and long battery life.

Maude Vibe

Maude Vibe and We-Vibe Tango X

The We-Vibe Tango X is the better choice if you want deep, rumbly vibrations, a broad power range, and more convenient controls. The Maude Vibe is better if you specifically prefer strong, buzzy vibrations and care more about quietness, price, and a minimalist aesthetic.

The biggest difference is vibration feel. The Tango X is the most rumbly bullet I’ve tested, and even its top setting stays extremely rumbly at 58 Hz. It also gives you more room to build up: 8 power levels from 2.5 to 7.75 out of 10 power. The Maude Vibe only has 3 levels and starts at 5 out of 10, so it skips true gentle warmup settings. That can be great if you want immediate intensity, but limiting if you need softer buildup. And the vibrations become buzzy, which can feel more intense, but also more surface-level: it’s a personal preference.

The Tango X is also easier to adjust because it has separate buttons for increasing power, decreasing power, and changing patterns. The Maude Vibe uses one button, and its button can be a little finicky. But the Maude Vibe is quieter: it stayed inaudible from behind a closed door on every power level, while the Tango X can rattle unless you keep it pressed to your body or grip it firmly. The Maude Vibe also costs about $25 less and has Maude’s smoother, neutral design.

Choose the We-Vibe Tango X for rumbliness, better controls, longer battery life, and a more gradual power range. Choose the Maude Vibe if you want a quieter, more affordable buzzy vibrator with a sleek, simple design.
