Our Verdict

The Maude Drop is a mini vibrator that’s much broader than typical bullets or other small vibrators. It’s designed to feel more like a wand vibrator while maintaining a compact size. It’s basically the head of a wand vibrator without a handle.

Unfortunately, without a handle, as most wand vibrators and other mini vibrators have (including the Maude Vibe), the Maude Drop is fairly uncomfortable. You feel the vibrations substantially in your hand, and it becomes distracting quickly. It’s also tricky to leverage and maneuver.

The vibrations themselves are powerful but intensely buzzy. Most people prefer rumbliness, but others will enjoy these buzzy vibrations.

Regardless of vibration preferences, the discomfort is a dealbreaker for me. I think most people who prefer broad stimulation like the Maude Drop provides will benefit from choosing a different vibrator.

For better broad stimulation, consider the We-Vibe Touch X mini vibrator. Or a wand vibrator like the Magic Wand Mini or Orion Your New Favorite Wand.

If you like intense, buzzy vibrations like the Maude Drop provides, the Maude Vibe is a better choice. This one offers focused stimulation, more like a bullet vibrator.

Pros

  • Strong top vibration strength and two medium-strength settings, which are nice for warmup as long as you don’t need very gentle settings
  • One of the widest mini vibrators for those who prefer broad stimulation

Cons

  • No low vibration settings for warm-up
  • No rumbly vibrations
  • Uncomfortable to use because you feel substantial vibrations in your hand
  • Without a handle the Maude Drop is difficult to leverage for pressure

Table of Contents

Maude Drop with other bullet and mini vibrators in background

The Maude Drop is a mid-budget mini vibrator from Maude. With its wide, egg-like shape, it’s intended to provide broad stimulation like a wand vibrator without a handle. This contrasts with the Maude Vibe, designed to provide focused stimulation like a bullet vibrator.

Maude Drop has 3 intensity levels and no vibration patterns. It’s coated in smooth silicone and is IPX6 splashproof, so you can run it under the sink while cleaning but cannot submerge it. It uses a USB charging cable, has a travel mode to keep it from turning on accidentally, and comes with a zipper pouch for storage. Maude’s products are designed for people who value a simple, neutral aesthetic. The Maude Drop comes in natural tones of grey or green.

Compare Bullet & Mini Vibrators

You can filter this table by products’ performance and price using our comparison table tool here.

The mid-priced Maude Drop is generally worse than other mini and wand vibrators designed to provide broad stimulation. Without a handle, it’s easier to manufacture than wand vibrators, so the Maude Drop is cheaper than most wands. But its firm wand-sized head is difficult to maneuver without a handle, and I feel the buzzy vibrations in my hand a lot. I prefer good affordable wand vibrators like the Magic Wand Mini or Orion Your New Favorite Wand.

I also prefer other broad mini vibrators like the We-Vibe Touch X and Fun Factory Laya III. These mini vibrators have a slimmer or contoured profile that fits more naturally and comfortably in my hand. And they more effectively dampen the vibrations in my hand.

Power Range Rating:

What is it:

How wide the range is between the highest and lowest power levels, and whether it has enough power levels that steps between settings are comfortable.

When does it matter:

A broad power range with many intensity levels is always more versatile. You can warm up with softer levels when your body isn’t ready for intense vibrations. But when you want more strength, you can turn it up high. A broad power range is also more likely to include settings at your ideal strength.

Power vs Frequency Graph:

What is it:

A graph of each bullet and mini vibrator’s power vs frequency across all of its power levels.

When does it matter:

If you want a detailed look at the vibrator’s full power and frequency characteristics. This tells you how strong and how rumbly each setting feels. You can also compare two vibrators on the same graph using our graph comparison tool here.

How Strong Is Each Power? (Click to Expand Definitions)

  • Power < 2.7: Too weak for me to orgasm, but great while warming up.
  • Power between 2.7 and 6.0: Strong enough for me to orgasm, but takes some effort. Good while warming up.
  • Power between 6.0 and 9.0: I orgasm effortlessly and reliably. These are the settings I typically finish with.
  • Power ≥ 9.0: Extreme power. Way more than I need to orgasm – I rarely use these.

The Maude Drop has a great top vibration strength but a mediocre power range. The lowest setting is a 4.75 out of 10 vibration strength, so it begins with moderate power. This may be too much for those who need gentle warmup levels, but it will be fine for those who are not extra sensitive.

The top strength is an 8 out of 10, which is above average for a mini vibrator and is more than enough power for me. There are only 3 intensity levels, so the jumps between strengths are not gradual. Some people will find the steps jarring.

Maude Drop and Lovense Ambi
The Maude Drop (left) and an alternative with a similar top power, but better low settings, the Lovense Ambi (right)

If you want comparable strength on high power but also need gentle warmup levels, consider the Lovense Ambi. If you enjoy intensity and do not need gradual steps, the Maude Drop is good.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating:

4.7

What is it:

How “rumbly” (low frequency) or “buzzy” (high frequency) the vibrator feels. And whether it delivers strong vibrations while remaining reasonably rumbly. Higher scores indicate a “more rumbly” (lower-frequency) bullet or mini vibrator, since the majority of people prefer rumbliness. But ultimately vibration frequency is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a specific area along the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. Rumbly vibrations spread out more and you feel them deeper. Whereas you feel buzzy vibrations nearer to the surface and more concentrated around the point of contact. Both can feel good, and which you enjoy more is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a particular part of the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. This provides a quick way to see whether one vibrator’s settings are generally more rumbly or buzzy than another vibrator’s. Since most people prefer rumbly toys, we give higher scores to lower-frequency (more rumbly) vibrators. But ultimately, it’s a personal preference.

Rumbliness & Power Balance:

5.1

What is it:

A measure that rewards bullet and mini vibrators that remain rumbly (low-frequency) while packing good vibration strength. In other words, a bullet vibrator that is strong, but buzzy will perform poorly in this metric. Likewise, a bullet vibrator that is rumbly, but weak will also perform poorly. Only bullet and mini vibrators with strong, rumbly vibrations will have a high rating here. Calculated using the average normalized power / normalized frequency of the vibrator’s settings, with a derating factor applied to buzzy settings.

When does it matter:

If you want a bullet or mini vibrator with a good balance of power and rumbliness.

Show All Scores (Click to See):

The Maude Drop is for those who want intense buzzy vibrations. Even its lowest setting is moderately buzzy. And the top two levels are extremely buzzy.

If you don’t know whether you prefer rumbly or buzzy vibrations, I’d recommend a more rumbly option since that’s what most people like. But some (though fewer) people prefer buzziness. And the Maude Drop will satisfy those who like the combination of extreme buzziness and high intensity.

The Maude Drop (top) and some more rumbly alternatives – the bullet, Pillow Talk Racy (left) and some wands, the Magic Wand Mini (middle) and Orion Your New Favorite Wand (right)

Rumble lovers should consider other options. The Pillow Talk Racy is the most rumbly mini vibrator in this price range. Or, if you’re considering the Maude Drop for its wide shape, try a mini wand like the Magic Wand Mini, one of my favorites. Or the Orion Your New Favorite Wand if you need to stick to a tighter budget.

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision

What is it:

How focused or broad the stimulation feels compared to other mini and bullet vibrators.

When does it matter:

If you prefer stimulation focused in a small, precise area or enjoy it spread out over more of your vulva. It’s a personal preference.

Maude Drop Typical Tip Width Photo

Precision:

Broad

Head or Tip Width:

1.41 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Tip Shape:

Broad Rounded

What is it:

The shape of the bullet or mini vibrator’s tip.

When it matters:

The tip’s shape affects how broad or precise the stimulation feels. And it affects how much you can vary the stimulation. Lipstick-shaped and tapered vibrators provide very focused stimulation when using the tip or moderate precision when using the side of the toy. Rounded heads stay in that moderate range of precision. And others can be broader.

Whether you enjoy broad stimulation that encompasses your whole vulva or precise stimulation that remains focused on a particular spot is a personal preference.

The Maude Drop provides very broad stimulation. It is an egg-shaped mini-vibrator, so you can’t limit pressure to a small area. Even the tapered tip feels wider than most mini vibrators.

Bullet Vibrator Tip Precision Levels
Examples of different precision levels in bullets and mini-vibrators

Pressing any section of this toy against you will stimulate most of your vulva. In this way, it acts more like a wand vibrator than a bullet! It’s great for those who enjoy diffuse stimulation that affects the entire area.

Compared to my other bullets and mini vibrators, the Maude Drop is difficult to use and uncomfortable.

Unlike most mini, bullet, or wand vibrators, the Maude Drop has no “handle.” So you hold the Drop directly where the motor is located. As a result, I feel the vibrations substantially in my hand. It’s tolerable on the lowest setting but very distracting on the top two power levels.

Maude Drop and Magic Wand Mini
You can find broad-coverage vibrators that have handles for easier leverage like the Magic Wand Mini (right)

The handleless egg shape makes it difficult to leverage the toy for pressure – you must use your whole hand and arm to press. For those who typically just rest the vibrator against you, this won’t matter too much. But those who like to apply pressure will want a toy with a handle.

Whole Hand Pressing Maude Drop
You have to use your whole hand to press and hold the Maude Drop

The Maude Drop uses a single-button control system to cycle through the 3 intensity levels. Since there are only 3 settings, cycling through them takes little time, so having just one button is not an issue. But the button is difficult to press, and I often need two hands.

Maude Drop Leverage Compared to We-Vibe Touch X Leverage
The Maude Drop (left) and an alternative with broad coverage and an easier grip, the We-Vibe Touch X (right)

If you want a broad mini vibrator like the Maude Drop, the We-Vibe Touch X is much more comfortable and easy to use. Or, if you are okay with a larger toy, consider a quality, affordable wand vibrator like the Magic Wand Mini.

When using the Maude Drop in missionary position, it’s too bulky to fit both the toy and my hand between our bodies, so I don’t feel any impactful vibes. Slimmer mini vibrators like the We-Vibe Touch X (one of my favorites) or Dame Pom have a better shape to use during sex in all positions. Or the Je Joue Amour is another broad option that’s more affordable.

I can use the first two power levels in my bedroom without my partner noticing from the other side of the door. At its highest power level, my partner could hear it during our testing. However, he noted that he had to wait for noise outside our house to get especially quiet to hear the Maude Drop – and he doubted anyone would notice it during ordinary use.

Turning on a box fan or playing music in the bedroom completely masked the Maude Drop’s noise on its highest power. So if you need to be discrete, it’s definitely doable with some creativity.

Cleaning Rating

9.0

What is it:

How easy the bullet or mini vibrator is to clean. Vibrators with an IPX6 (water-resistant) or IPX7 (waterproof) rating are super easy to clean under a running sink. For vibrators without a waterproof rating, I subjectively rate how difficult it is to clean.

What is it:

When does it matter:

When you plan to use your vibrator in the shower, bath, or want simpler cleaning.

  • IPX7 (Submersible): Vibrators with this rating are “waterproof.” You can submerge them in water up to a meter deep for up to 30 minutes. So you can use them in the bath and cleaning is easy.
  • IPX6 (Water Resistant): Vibrators with this rating can resist high-pressure, heavy sprays of water, but should not be fully submerged. This means you can use them in the shower (but not submerged in a bath). You can also clean them under a sink faucet without worry.
  • No Rating: These vibrators do not have a waterproof rating. You should not use them in the shower, and you must be careful to keep water away from electronic components when cleaning them.

The Maude Drop is easy to clean by running it under the sink. It’s IPX6 splashproof, so you can safely scrub it under running water, but you should not completely submerge it.

Size and Weight

Maude Drop Vibrator Length Measurement with Calipers Photo

Length:

2.7 inches

What is it:

How long the bullet or mini vibrator is, measured from the base to the tip.

When does it matter:

In general, longer mini and bullet vibrators are easier to hold, maneuver, and leverage. These types of vibrators are smaller than most, so some additional length can provide a more comfortable grip.

Maude Drop Typical Tip Width Photo

Head or Tip Width:

1.41 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Maude Drop Weight Measured on a Scale Photo

Weight:

2.9 ounces

What is it:

How heavy the bullet vibrator or mini vibrator is, measured with a digital scale.

When does it matter:

The weight of a bullet or mini vibrator is not that important, because they’re all relatively light (around 0.6 to 5.0 ounces). They’re not heavy like wand vibrators which can weigh up to 25 ounces and can be difficult to maneuver. A slightly heavier bullet or mini vibrator can feel sturdier, more durable, and higher quality.

Design Features

Maude Drop Vibrator Shape Photo

Vibrator Shape:

Palm

What is it:

The general shape of the mini or bullet vibrator.

When it matters:

Most bullet vibrators have a basic, straight design. Angled bullet vibrators can be easier to leverage and apply pressure. An angled shape can also help a bullet vibrator fit more easily between bodies during sex. We use the word “palm” to refer to mini vibrators designed to fit in the palm of your hand. Palm vibrators generally provide broader stimulation than bullet vibrators.

Maude Drop Tip Shape Photo

Head or Tip Shape:

Broad Rounded

What is it:

The shape of the bullet or mini vibrator’s tip.

When it matters:

The tip’s shape affects how broad or precise the stimulation feels. And it affects how much you can vary the stimulation. Lipstick-shaped and tapered vibrators provide very focused stimulation when using the tip or moderate precision when using the side of the toy. Rounded heads stay in that moderate range of precision. And others can be broader.

Head or Tip Firmness

Firm

What is it:

Whether the vibrator’s tip is firm or plush.

Maude Drop Rigidity and Flexibility Photo

Flexibility:

Rigid

What is it:

How flexible or rigid the mini or bullet vibrator is.

When does it matter:

It’s generally a personal preference. A slightly flexible vibrator can be more comfortable to use, especially if the vibrator is very firm. However, too much flexibility makes it harder to apply substantial pressure since the vibrator’s tip can flex away.

Materials:

Silicone

What is it:

The material of the mini or bullet vibrator’s body and handle.

When it matters:

Only non-porous materials (including ABS plastic, silicone, some metals, and some other materials) are body-safe since they can be fully sanitized. Every bullet and mini vibrator we review is made using body-safe materials. The choice between different safe materials is a personal preference. Some people enjoy how smooth ABS Plastic feels. Others find silicone feels higher-quality to them. Or the additional weight and shine of a metal vibrator can make it feel luxurious.

Review Results

The Maude Drop is a mini vibrator for those who enjoy broad stimulation and intense, buzzy vibrations. However, the egg-shaped design leads to an uncomfortable experience – without a handle, you feel substantial vibrations in your hand (an issue I did not experience with the Maude Vibe).

Maude Drop and Maude Vibe
The Maude Drop compared to the Maude’s other bullet, the Maude Vibe (right)

As a result of the poor comfort & ease of use, I think most people (including those who enjoy intensely buzzy vibrations) will have a better experience with one of the alternatives below.

Compare Alternatives

We-Vibe Touch X

Maude Drop and We-Vibe Touch X

The We-Vibe Touch X is a broad mini vibrator like the Maude Drop, but the Touch X is better overall. The Touch X has about the same top strength as the Drop, but it has a handle that makes it easier to grip and leverage – and most importantly, it keeps your hand from vibrating distractingly. The Touch X also outperforms the Maude Drop during sex because its broad, flattened shape fits more easily between bodies.

The Touch X is about double the cost of the Drop, but it’s one of my favorite mini-vibrators. It has better controls than the Drop and is excellent for those looking for a luxury toy.

Magic Wand Mini

The Magic Wand Mini is better than the Maude Drop if you enjoy broad stimulation but want rumbly vibrations and a more comfortable experience. This is a little different because it’s a wand instead of a mini-vibrator, so it’s larger and takes up more space.

Maude Drop and Magic Wand Mini

The head of the Magic Wand Mini is about the same size as the Maude Drop, so the stimulation is similarly broad. But since the Magic Wand Mini has a handle, it’s much more comfortable to hold and easier to maneuver. This has better controls than the Drop and a more plush head, which also helps with comfort.

The Magic Wand Mini’s vibrations are also more powerful and much more rumbly (which most people prefer). The Magic Wand Mini is slightly more expensive than the Maude Drop.

Magic Wand does have an even smaller version called the Magic Wand Micro, but its power range is very limited. So the Magic Wand Mini is a better choice for most people.

Orion Your New Favorite Wand

Maude Drop and Orion Your New Favorite Wand

The Orion Your New Favorite Wand is the same price as the Maude Drop and better if you want easier leverage and controls. It’s another wand vibrator, so it’s much easier to grip because it has a handle. This means the vibrations do not travel into your hand as much.

This wand is larger than the Maude Drop, but it’s one of the shorter wands overall. It has a much higher top strength and more rumbly vibrations than the Drop (though less rumbly than the Magic Wand Mini).

Maude Vibe

Maude Drop and Maude Vibe

The Maude Vibe and Maude Drop are both mini vibrators from Maude that share a simple, natural aesthetic. But the Maude Vibe is better overall. The Maude Vibe has a similar vibration profile to the Maude Drop (equally powerful and similarly buzzy), so it’s also best for those who enjoy intense, buzzy vibrations.

However, the Maude Vibe is longer and provides enough space to grip the toy without feeling overwhelming vibrations in your hand. And the length makes it easier to leverage. Maude Vibe has a precise tip similar to a bullet vibrator. Whereas the Maude Drop is wide like a wand vibrator. So, the Maude Vibe is best for those who enjoy focused stimulation.

The Je Joue Amour is better than the Maude Drop for those who want an affordable, reasonably broad mini vibrator. The Amour is the most affordable broad-stimulation mini vibrator that I actually enjoy.

While not as wide as the Maude Drop, the Je Joue Amour is wider than most bullet vibrators, providing reasonably broad stimulation. With separate buttons to increase power, decrease power, and move through vibration patterns, the Amour’s controls are better than the Maude Drop’s. The Maude Drop is more powerful than the Je Joue Amour. But the Amour is more rumbly (which most people prefer).

The Amour also has a flexible silicone flutter tip that lets you lightly stimulate your whole vulva or use the thin edge for a fluttering sensation.
