Our Verdict

The Magic Wand Micro is a decent mini vibrator, but it’s mostly fun because it’s a cute, tiny version of the larger Magic Wands. Otherwise, its performance is generally good, with a couple of important downsides to consider.

Mainly, the Magic Wand Micro’s power range is narrow. Every setting is moderately intense – nothing very gentle or super strong. My favorite mini vibrators are more powerful than the Micro (and it’s much milder than the full-sized Magic Wands if that’s what you’re expecting). It also lacks a waterproof rating, so it’s harder to clean than most mini vibrators.

Apart from those aspects, it’s great. The plush head is super comfortable. And its cylindrical shape lets you vary the stimulation from precise (using the lip) to broad (using the side). It’s quiet, has a long battery life, and has good rumbliness.

If you like the idea of a tiny Magic Wand, it’s a fun vibrator. If you don’t care about that, a mini vibrator with a wider power range like the We-Vibe Touch X or Lovense Ambi is probably a better choice.

Discounts Codes:

Pros

  • It has a unique wand design in a very small size with a plush head that’s very comfortable
  • It's a comfortable size to grip and leverage, and the buttons are easy to use
  • Rumbly mid-powered vibrations will suit some peoples' preferences

Cons

  • Very narrow power range with only moderately intense vibrations. So you have to only need vibes in this small power range.
  • Neither waterproof nor splashproof - must be cleaned with a damp towel

Magic Wand Micro with other bullet and mini vibrators in background

The Magic Wand Micro is a mid-priced mini-vibrator in Hitachi’s famous Magic Wand line. This brand is most famous for its powerful full-sized wands, the Rechargeable and Plus. The Magic Wand Micro is the newest (and smallest) addition. It looks just like their large wand vibrators, simply shrunken down to the size of a salt shaker!

Magic Wand Micro Mini Rechargeable Plus and Original
The Magic Wand vibrators – from left to right: Magic Wand Micro, Mini, Rechargeable, Plus and Original

While it’s marketed as a “surprisingly powerful” vibrator, it’s nowhere near as strong as their larger wands (even the Magic Wand Mini) if that’s what you expect. Instead, it’s much more similar to other bullet and mini vibrators.

Magic Wand Micro with Several Bullets and Mini Vibrators
The Magic Wand Micro (above) with several bullets and mini vibrators below

Its wand-like design includes a plush silicone head for broader coverage than a typical bullet with a hard ABS plastic handle. The Magic Wand Micro has 3 power levels and 4 vibration patterns and uses a USB-C charging cable. It is not waterproof, so you need to be careful when cleaning it.

Note: The Magic Wand Micro is much more similar to a mini vibrator than a wand. So, while we tested the other Magic Wands alongside wand vibrators, the Micro is tested in comparison to other bullets and mini vibrators. We rate these two categories differently, so test result values like Vibration Power are not directly comparable between the wand and mini vibrator reviews. Where relevant, we’ll discuss how the Micro compares to other Magic Wands, but most of our discussion will focus on how it relates to other bullets and mini vibrators.

Compare Bullet & Mini Vibrators

You can filter this table by products’ performance and price using our comparison table tool here.

The Magic Wand Micro is a good mini-vibrator if you value soft to mid-powered, rumbly vibrations and a comfortable experience. The wand-like design with a plush head is great for those who enjoy broader coverage than a typical bullet. I haven’t found another mini-vibrator with medium coverage and a nice plush head like this.

However, the narrow power range, lack of intense settings, and lack of a waterproof rating will disappoint some. If you need a broader power range and more intense settings consider the Lovense Ambi in this price range or the We-Vibe Touch X for a more luxurious option.

Magic Wand Micro Mini Rechargeable Plus and Original
All of the Magic Wands – from left to right, Magic Wand Micro, Magic Wand Mini, Magic Wand Rechargeable, Magic Wand Plus and Magic Wand Original

If you’ve tried one of the full-sized Magic Wands, the Magic Wand Micro’s strength is much weaker. The statement “Legendary Power” on the Micro’s packaging applies to the full-sized versions, but certainly not the Micro. While its power is enjoyable, it is moderately intense even compared to other mini vibrators.

Vibrations: Power And Range

What is it:

How wide the range is between the highest and lowest power levels, and whether it has enough power levels that steps between settings are comfortable.

When does it matter:

A broad power range with many intensity levels is always more versatile. You can warm up with softer levels when your body isn’t ready for intense vibrations. But when you want more strength, you can turn it up high. A broad power range is also more likely to include settings at your ideal strength.

Power vs Frequency Graph:

What is it:

A graph of each bullet and mini vibrator’s power vs frequency across all of its power levels.

When does it matter:

If you want a detailed look at the vibrator’s full power and frequency characteristics. This tells you how strong and how rumbly each setting feels. You can also compare two vibrators on the same graph using our graph comparison tool here.

How Strong Is Each Power? (Click to Expand Definitions)

  • Power < 2.7: Too weak for me to orgasm, but great while warming up.
  • Power between 2.7 and 6.0: Strong enough for me to orgasm, but takes some effort. Good while warming up.
  • Power between 6.0 and 9.0: I orgasm effortlessly and reliably. These are the settings I typically finish with.
  • Power ≥ 9.0: Extreme power. Way more than I need to orgasm – I rarely use these.

The Magic Wand Micro has 3 power levels in a very tight range – they’re all mid-powered. The lowest setting is a 4.5 out of 10 strength, and the highest is 5.5 (on a scale compared to other mini and bullet vibrators). Compared to the larger Magic Wands, the Micro is substantially weaker.

The Micro has enough strength for me to orgasm, but it takes some effort. Some days, it feels just right, and others, I want a little more power. When I’m going for a second “O,” I definitely need more strength.

Its narrow power range is the Magic Wand Micro’s biggest drawback. Since the Micro’s range is so limited, it’s hard to predict whether it will suit your preferences. Plus, many people need gentle levels while warming up and intense levels to finish. Mini vibrators with a broader power range are simply more versatile.

Magic Wand Micro and Alternatives with Wider Power Ranges We-Vibe Touch X and Lovense Ambi
The Magic Wand Micro (left) and alternatives with wider power ranges, the We-Vibe Touch X (middle) and Lovense Ambi (right)

If you typically need both gentle and intense levels, the We-Vibe Touch X or Lovense Ambi are better mini vibrators for you. If you only need moderate intensity, you’ll enjoy the Magic Wand Micro’s vibrations.

The other Magic Wands, like the Magic Wand Mini and Magic Wand Rechargeable, are significantly stronger with broader power ranges. In fact, the Magic Wand Micro’s top setting is only as powerful as the Mini’s lowest setting. So, if you’re after more power, try the Mini for a mid-sized or the Rechargeable for a full-sized option.

Note: Although the Magic Wand Micro’s and Mini’s power graphs look similar, we rated the Micro in comparison to bullet and mini vibrators, whereas the Magic Wand Mini is rated in comparison to wand vibrators, which are much stronger than bullets. So the numerical results between the two reviews are not directly comparable.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating:

8.3

What is it:

How “rumbly” (low frequency) or “buzzy” (high frequency) the vibrator feels. And whether it delivers strong vibrations while remaining reasonably rumbly. Higher scores indicate a “more rumbly” (lower-frequency) bullet or mini vibrator, since the majority of people prefer rumbliness. But ultimately vibration frequency is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a specific area along the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. Rumbly vibrations spread out more and you feel them deeper. Whereas you feel buzzy vibrations nearer to the surface and more concentrated around the point of contact. Both can feel good, and which you enjoy more is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a particular part of the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. This provides a quick way to see whether one vibrator’s settings are generally more rumbly or buzzy than another vibrator’s. Since most people prefer rumbly toys, we give higher scores to lower-frequency (more rumbly) vibrators. But ultimately, it’s a personal preference.

Rumbliness & Power Balance:

7.8

What is it:

A measure that rewards bullet and mini vibrators that remain rumbly (low-frequency) while packing good vibration strength. In other words, a bullet vibrator that is strong, but buzzy will perform poorly in this metric. Likewise, a bullet vibrator that is rumbly, but weak will also perform poorly. Only bullet and mini vibrators with strong, rumbly vibrations will have a high rating here. Calculated using the average normalized power / normalized frequency of the vibrator’s settings, with a derating factor applied to buzzy settings.

When does it matter:

If you want a bullet or mini vibrator with a good balance of power and rumbliness.

Show All Scores (Click to See):

The Magic Wand Micro has great rumbly vibrations on the first two settings and a neutral-feeling top setting. Neutral vibrations are actually some of my favorites since I enjoy the greater kick at the surface they bring over rumbly vibrations. So I’m glad the top power feels neutral, and I enjoy the lower settings’ rumbly feel for a comfortable warmup.

If you enjoy mid-strength, moderately rumbly vibrations, the Magic Wand Micro is great. If you prefer deeper rumbliness, the We-Vibe Tango X bullet vibrator remains extremely rumbly on every setting. Or for similar rumbliness to the Magic Wand Micro with a broader power range, consider the Pillow Talk Racy

Magic Wand Micro with We-Vibe Tango X and Pillow Talk Racy
The Magic Wand Micro and alternatives with deeper vibrations or a wider range, the We-Vibe Tango X and Pillow Talk Racy

The Magic Wand Micro is less rumbly than the other Magic Wands (except the Original). Its frequency range is pretty similar to the Rechargeable, Plus, and Mini. But these larger wands have much more power on their rumbly settings, so their vibrations feel more impactful.

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision

What is it:

How focused or broad the stimulation feels compared to other mini and bullet vibrators.

When does it matter:

If you prefer stimulation focused in a small, precise area or enjoy it spread out over more of your vulva. It’s a personal preference.

Magic Wand Micro Typical Tip Width Photo with Calipers

Precision:

Medium

Head or Tip Width:

1.31 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Tip Shape:

Rounded

What is it:

The shape of the bullet or mini vibrator’s tip.

When it matters:

The tip’s shape affects how broad or precise the stimulation feels. And it affects how much you can vary the stimulation. Lipstick-shaped and tapered vibrators provide very focused stimulation when using the tip or moderate precision when using the side of the toy. Rounded heads stay in that moderate range of precision. And others can be broader.

The Magic Wand Micro’s precision is between broad and focused, with a head width of 1.31 inches. This is broader than most bullet and mini vibrators (the median width of the ones we’ve tested so far is about 0.9 inches) but more focused than the other Magic Wands, which have heads ranging from 1.9 to 2.4 inches wide.

Magic Wand Micro with Smaller Tipped Bullets and Larger Heads of Wands
The Magic Wand Micro (middle) has a smaller head than any of the other Magic Wands, but larger than many bullets or mini vibrators

I enjoy the Magic Wand Micro’s moderate width – it’s comfortable for direct stimulation because the pressure spreads out evenly. When I use a slimmer toy than the Magic Wand Micro, I usually use it for indirect stimulation, pressing it near the side of my clit. Precise, direct stimulation often feels too intense for me. But it feels good with the Magic Wand Micro.

Varying Stimulation Precision with Magic Wand Micro
You can use the edge of the cylinder for a smaller area, or the entire side for broad coverage

The Magic Wand Micro’s head shape also makes it easy to vary the precision. You can use the top lip of the cylindrical head for more focused stimulation or the side of the head for broader stimulation.

The Magic Wand Micro is exceptionally comfortable and easy to use. The handle is a great size to grip comfortably without cramping my hand or fingers, and it’s easy to leverage. I like how the base flares out a bit, providing a natural leverage spot for the inside of my thumb to press against, making it extra easy to apply firm pressure.

Using Thumb to Leverage Magic Wand Micro
I like the flared base for better leverage

The plush silicone head and flexible neck keep the contact on my clit very comfy when I’m applying firm pressure. Very few mini vibrators have a plush head like the Magic Wand Micro.

I can also press the Micro’s buttons easily to change the setting during use, and their placement doesn’t cause me to accidentally press them when I don’t want to.

Magic Wand Micro Control Buttons
The button controls on the Magic Wand Micro

You tap the power button to turn it on, then tap the settings button to cycle through the 3 power levels and 4 patterns. The controls are more limited than vibrators with separate buttons to increase and decrease power. But since there are only 7 settings, cycling through them doesn’t take too long. When you turn the Magic Wand Micro off and back on, it starts again at the gentlest power setting – so you can use this method to get back to the beginning too.

Show All Scores (Click to See):

The Magic Wand Micro is outstanding in spooning positions or others where you’re not facing your partner. It’s easy to fit between your legs, and the medium coverage and plush surface make it great for direct stimulation. It feels comfortable against the body and is easy to leverage with one hand.

It still provides good stimulation if you’re in missionary or other positions facing your partner. But since the head size is bigger than most bullets, it takes up more space and can’t fit as tightly near your clit if you prefer direct stimulation. It’s still comfortable and provides solid, indirect vibrations. But if you particularly care about clit stimulation in face-to-face positions, the Lovense Ambi or another angled bullet vibrator is best.

The Magic Wand Micro has great noise levels. When I used it in the bedroom, with my partner listening from the other side of the door, he could not hear it on any setting. Its decibel level on high is technically greater than many of my bullets at 51.9 Hz, but since the vibrations are never buzzy, they are not noticeable.

If you’re holding the toy in open air, it can make a slight rattling noise, which still can’t be heard outside the room but could become annoying to the user. But making small adjustments to your grip and pressing the toy against your body stops this rattling sound. I haven’t found it to be an issue.

However, you have to remember that the Magic Wand Micro has moderate vibration strength, so it doesn’t use as much power as some others. If you choose a stronger mini vibrator, like the We-Vibe Touch X, you’ll have a longer runtime than our results if you typically use the lower and middle levels too. The Magic Wand Micro has a good build quality. However, I didn’t rate it as highly as some of my others because it’s not waterproof or splashproof.

Besides the lack of water protection, the head is made of smooth, plush silicone that’s body-safe and wonderfully comfortable. While flexible, the neck feels sturdy, so I can still put firm pressure on it. The plastic handle feels well put together, and the reliable silicone buttons have a nice press-feel.

Cleaning

Cleaning Rating

7.0

What is it:

Cleaning the Magic Wand Micro with damp cloth

Waterproof Rating:

No Rating

What is it:

The bullet or mini vibrator’s waterproof rating – IPX7, IPX6, or No Rating

When does it matter:

When you plan to use your vibrator in the shower, bath, or want simpler cleaning.

  • IPX7 (Submersible): Vibrators with this rating are “waterproof.” You can submerge them in water up to a meter deep for up to 30 minutes. So you can use them in the bath and cleaning is easy.
  • IPX6 (Water Resistant): Vibrators with this rating can resist high-pressure, heavy sprays of water, but should not be fully submerged. This means you can use them in the shower (but not submerged in a bath). You can also clean them under a sink faucet without worry.
  • No Rating: These vibrators do not have a waterproof rating. You should not use them in the shower, and you must be careful to keep water away from electronic components when cleaning them.

The Magic Wand Micro is not easy to clean. With such a small head, it could be easy to get water damage because it’s harder to keep water away from the neck.

The best practice is to clean it with a damp cloth. But when I’m in a rush, I often run it under the sink, keeping water from touching anywhere besides the silicone head. This is much trickier with the Magic Wand Micro compared to the larger Magic Wands since it’s so small.

If you’re not set on very intentional care, go with something waterproof like the We-Vibe Touch X or Lovense Ambi. There are many others with a waterproof rating too. To compare waterproof mini vibrators, you can use our Comparison Table tool here, click “Filters”, and check “IPX7” for the waterproof rating.

General Design and Specs

Size and Weight

Magic Wand Micro Vibrator Length Measurement with Calipers Photo

Length:

4.5 inches

What is it:

How long the bullet or mini vibrator is, measured from the base to the tip.

When does it matter:

In general, longer mini and bullet vibrators are easier to hold, maneuver, and leverage. These types of vibrators are smaller than most, so some additional length can provide a more comfortable grip.

Magic Wand Micro Typical Tip Width Photo with Calipers

Head or Tip Width:

1.31 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Magic Wand Micro Weight Measured on a Scale Photo

Weight:

3.0 ounces

What is it:

How heavy the bullet vibrator or mini vibrator is, measured with a digital scale.

When does it matter:

The weight of a bullet or mini vibrator is not that important, because they’re all relatively light (around 0.6 to 5.0 ounces). They’re not heavy like wand vibrators which can weigh up to 25 ounces and can be difficult to maneuver. A slightly heavier bullet or mini vibrator can feel sturdier, more durable, and higher quality.

Design Features

Magic Wand Micro Vibrator Shape Photo

Vibrator Shape:

Straight

What is it:

The general shape of the mini or bullet vibrator.

When it matters:

Most bullet vibrators have a basic, straight design. Angled bullet vibrators can be easier to leverage and apply pressure. An angled shape can also help a bullet vibrator fit more easily between bodies during sex. We use the word “palm” to refer to mini vibrators designed to fit in the palm of your hand. Palm vibrators generally provide broader stimulation than bullet vibrators.

Magic Wand Micro Tip Shape Photo

Head or Tip Shape:

Rounded

Head or Tip Firmness

Plush

What is it:

Whether the vibrator’s tip is firm or plush.

Magic Wand Micro Rigidity and Flexibility Photo

Flexibility:

Flexible Tip

What is it:

How flexible or rigid the mini or bullet vibrator is.

When does it matter:

It’s generally a personal preference. A slightly flexible vibrator can be more comfortable to use, especially if the vibrator is very firm. However, too much flexibility makes it harder to apply substantial pressure since the vibrator’s tip can flex away.

Materials:

ABS Plastic with Silicone Head

What is it:

The material of the mini or bullet vibrator’s body and handle.

When it matters:

Only non-porous materials (including ABS plastic, silicone, some metals, and some other materials) are body-safe since they can be fully sanitized. Every bullet and mini vibrator we review is made using body-safe materials. The choice between different safe materials is a personal preference. Some people enjoy how smooth ABS Plastic feels. Others find silicone feels higher-quality to them. Or the additional weight and shine of a metal vibrator can make it feel luxurious.

The Magic Wand Micro is mainly for people who like the brand’s larger Magic Wands and enjoy the idea of owning a cute, tiny version. However, compared to other mini vibrators, the Magic Wand Micro underperforms in some areas. So, if you’re not excited about the Micro simply because it’s a tiny version of the other Magic Wands, I’d suggest a different mini vibrator.

I like several aspects of the Micro, including its plush, cylindrical head, which is superbly comfy and lets me easily vary the precision. Its rumbly to neutral vibrations feel lovely. However, its power range is very limited. Most will benefit from getting a mini vibrator with a wider power range and a waterproof or splashproof rating for easier cleaning and better peace of mind.

We-Vibe Touch X

The We-Vibe Touch X provides similar broad stimulation to the Magic Wand Micro, but it has a much wider power range (the Micro’s main downside). The Touch X has gentler low levels and more intense top settings. It can take you through a more comprehensive journey from warmup to finish. Whereas the Micro just fits people who want moderate intensity the entire time.

Magic Wand Micro and We-Vibe Touch X

The Touch X’s tip is 1.45 inches wide, a bit bigger than the Micro’s 1.31 inches. This is great for that broad coverage that disperses the vibrations evenly. The Touch X has a similar frequency range to the Magic Wand Micro, with rumbly vibrations on the lower half and a neutral feel on high. And it’s IPX7 waterproof, so it’s easier to clean. It’s about $30 more expensive, but it’s one of my favorite mini vibrators.

Lovense Ambi

The Lovense Ambi is better than the Magic Wand Micro if you want a wider power range and enjoy extra firm pressure. The Ambi’s angled design and firm tip make it easy to leverage when you like to press the vibrations hard against your body. It’s not plush like the Magic Wand Micro, so it’s better for pressure, but doesn’t have the same cushiony feel.

Magic Wand Micro and Lovense Ambi

The power ranges from 1.5 to 8 out of 10, and you can make very gradual power adjustments using the app to find your ideal strength. The frequency is somewhat similar to the Micro, with rumbly levels on low and a neutral feel as you increase power. But the Ambi does become buzzy on its highest settings, whereas the Micro remains neutral so consider your preferences. The Ambi is IPX7 waterproof, so it’s easier to clean, and it’s about the same price as the Magic Wand Micro.

Magic Wand Mini

The Magic Wand Mini is better than the Magic Wand Micro if you want stronger rumbly vibrations. The Mini’s vibrations are not as strong as the full-sized Magic Wands, but they’re much stronger than the Micro’s.

Magic Wand Micro and Magic Wand Mini

It’s bigger than the Micro, so it has broader coverage and takes up more space. But the Magic Wand Mini is one of my easier wands to maneuver if you don’t mind a larger toy. And it has the same design with a plush silicone head that’s very comfortable to press against the body. It’s only about $10 more expensive, and the vibrations are rumbly with more power.
