Our Verdict

The Fun Factory Laya III is one of my favorite mini vibrators! It has excellent performance overall, but two aspects especially set it apart and keep me reaching for the Laya:

  1. I get excellent hands-free clit stimulation when lying on top of the Laya – my partner and I love using it like this during sex!
  2. The Laya’s motor operates in a way that adds a unique tapping effect, which combines the benefits of rumbly and neutral vibrations – it feels more layered and very satisfying.

It has a great power range from gentle to intense, and the controls allow you to gradually and comfortably work your way through the settings. It has an excellent battery life and is waterproof, so cleaning is easy. Overall, it’s great!

Noise is the only area it underperforms – it can make a rattling sound when held in certain ways, but it’s still quiet enough for most people. If excellent noise levels are a big priority, the We-Vibe Touch X may be a better choice for you.

But the Fun Factory Laya is one of my personal favorites and most used mini vibrators, especially for the lay-on use!

Fun Factory Laya III with other bullet and mini vibrators in background

The Fun Factory Laya III is a luxury mini-vibrator from Fun Factory. It’s the newest version of their uniquely curved “lay-on” vibrator. You can either lay it on top of you, letting it curve along your vulva for comfortable broad stimulation. Or, how I like to use it – you can lie on top of the Laya III for hands-free clit stimulation. Or you can just hold it and use it as an ordinary mini vibrator.

The Laya III’s motor also adds a unique tapping effect underneath the main vibrations. I discuss this in detail below, but it essentially combines the benefits of rumbly and neutral vibrations – letting you feel both together.

The Fun Factory Laya III has 7 vibration settings and 3 patterns. It has a travel lock feature, is IPX7 waterproof, and is made of body-safe, silky silicone with a smooth texture on one end and a ridged texture on the other. It’s rechargeable and comes with a USB charging cable.

Compare Bullet & Mini Vibrators

You can filter this table by products’ performance and price using our comparison table tool here.

The Fun Factory Laya III is one of my personal favorites. With its bonus use as a lay-on vibrator, the Laya offers more unique, fun ways to play—plus, it’s outstanding as an ordinary vibrator. It’s excellent in all areas except noise. Along with the We-Vibe Touch X, it outperforms my other mini-vibrators designed for broad stimulation, like the Dame Pom and Maude Drop

Most people looking for a broad mini vibrator should choose between the Laya III and Touch X. The Fun Factory Laya III has more unique features than the Touch, including its lay-on use and tapping motor. But the Touch X is quieter and more plush, which some will prefer. Other than that, they’re very close, and either is a great mini vibrator for normal use.

Lay-On Use

You can use the Fun Factory Laya III like a regular mini-vibrator and hold it to your clit with your hand, or use it as a “lay-on” vibrator – by either laying it on top of you or lying on top of it. This bonus feature is excellent and is one of the main reasons I keep using the Laya regularly.

Two Ways to Use the Fun Factory Laya
Using the Fun Factory Laya III in a handheld grip or hands-free by laying it on top of me

One of my favorite ways to use the Laya is to lie on top of it during sex. I lie on my stomach with the Laya III resting along my vulva between my body and the bed. My partner lies on top of me (in a prone position) while the Laya stimulates my clit entirely hands-free! It’s a great, effortless way to orgasm with my partner during sex.

Fun Factory Laya III Overlay of Lay On Use
How to lay on top of the Fun Factory Laya III

I’ve achieved a similar hands-free effect using wand vibrators like the BMS PalmPower Extreme with the Liberator Axis mount, but the price racks up quickly when you have to buy a wand and the mount. So the Laya III is a more affordable solution for hands-free stimulation during penetration from behind.

Fun Factory Laya III and BMS PalmPower Extreme in Liberator Axis Mount
Two ways I enjoy hands-free stimulation during sex, the Fun Factory Laya III (left) or the BMS PalmPower Extreme paired with the Liberator Axis Mount (right)

In this way, the Fun Factory Laya III is also an excellent alternative to C-shaped couples vibrators like the We-Vibe Chorus, which are designed to be worn during sex. When using the Laya hands-free during sex, you are limited to the face-down position I described above. But the Laya’s vibrations are more powerful than these other vibrators and it’s much better than them for solo use too.

Fun Factory Laya III and We-Vibe Chorus
The Fun Factory Laya III (left) compared to the We-Vibe Chorus (right)

I also enjoy lying on top of the Fun Factory Laya III when I use it solo, and I can orgasm hands-free with it by myself. I like to put a pillow under it to adjust the angle and add some cushion; otherwise, it can be uncomfortable when rocking my hips into the Laya since it’s so firm.

I’ll also lie on it before sex as a warmup while my partner massages my back!

Using Hand to Press Laya in While Laying
You can lay the toy on you without pressure, or use your hand to press the toy against you

You can also lie on your back and rest the contoured Fun Factory Laya III along your vulva. I can even comfortably use powers 1-3 without my hand on the Laya. That satisfying “tapping” sensation really comes through in the first 3 levels, even without needing to press the Laya to my clit. Starting at power 4, I need to use a hand to lightly press on the Laya and keep it in place.

I can’t use any of my other mini-vibrators like this because none have this pronounced curve that contours to your body like the Laya III. It’s one of the aspects that sets it apart and makes it one of my favorite vibrators.

Vibrations: Power And Range

Power Range Rating:

8.5

What is it:

How wide the range is between the highest and lowest power levels, and whether it has enough power levels that steps between settings are comfortable.

When does it matter:

A broad power range with many intensity levels is always more versatile. You can warm up with softer levels when your body isn’t ready for intense vibrations. But when you want more strength, you can turn it up high. A broad power range is also more likely to include settings at your ideal strength.

How Strong Is Each Power? (Click to Expand Definitions)

  • Power < 2.7: Too weak for me to orgasm, but great while warming up.
  • Power between 2.7 and 6.0: Strong enough for me to orgasm, but takes some effort. Good while warming up.
  • Power between 6.0 and 9.0: I orgasm effortlessly and reliably. These are the settings I typically finish with.
  • Power ≥ 9.0: Extreme power. Way more than I need to orgasm – I rarely use these.

The Fun Factory Laya III has a fantastic, wide power range, beginning softly and finishing intensely.

The first of 7 settings is a 1 out of 10 vibration strength, so those worried about overstimulation have gentle levels to enjoy. The first couple of settings feel especially “tappy,” which is a stimulating warmup without feeling overwhelming at all.

Power lovers will also be happy with the substantial top strength of 7.75. While there are a few more powerful bullet and mini vibrators, like the BMS Swan Maximum, the Laya has plenty of strength for me and most people. I orgasm on any preset power level between 4 and 7 – I usually don’t need to use the top strength.

Steps between settings are also comfortably gradual. You can also press and hold the “+” and “-” buttons to make micro-adjustments to the strength. This means it’s easy to find your ideal intensity and keep the journey comfortable.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating:

7.8

What is it:

How “rumbly” (low frequency) or “buzzy” (high frequency) the vibrator feels. And whether it delivers strong vibrations while remaining reasonably rumbly. Higher scores indicate a “more rumbly” (lower-frequency) bullet or mini vibrator, since the majority of people prefer rumbliness. But ultimately vibration frequency is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a specific area along the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. Rumbly vibrations spread out more and you feel them deeper. Whereas you feel buzzy vibrations nearer to the surface and more concentrated around the point of contact. Both can feel good, and which you enjoy more is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a particular part of the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. This provides a quick way to see whether one vibrator’s settings are generally more rumbly or buzzy than another vibrator’s. Since most people prefer rumbly toys, we give higher scores to lower-frequency (more rumbly) vibrators. But ultimately, it’s a personal preference.

Rumbliness & Power Balance:

6.7

What is it:

A measure that rewards bullet and mini vibrators that remain rumbly (low-frequency) while packing good vibration strength. In other words, a bullet vibrator that is strong, but buzzy will perform poorly in this metric. Likewise, a bullet vibrator that is rumbly, but weak will also perform poorly. Only bullet and mini vibrators with strong, rumbly vibrations will have a high rating here. Calculated using the average normalized power / normalized frequency of the vibrator’s settings, with a derating factor applied to buzzy settings.

When does it matter:

If you want a bullet or mini vibrator with a good balance of power and rumbliness.

Show All Scores (Click to See):

The Fun Factory Laya III’s vibrations have excellent rumbliness and a rich, layered feel. The first several settings feel very rumbly, and the top two settings are neutral.

But there’s more to the Laya’s story than most mini vibrators – the Laya’s vibrations also have a unique “layering effect,” which feels like typical vibrations plus a distinct “tapping” sensation underneath them. Listen to it in the video below.

You can hear the Fun Factory Laya’s distinctive tapping sound in this video. You can hear it best on low power.

To acheive this tapping effect, the motor runs at your chosen speed (the frequencies shown in our graph above), just like any other vibrator. But the Laya’s internal software briefly cuts power to the motor for mere milliseconds causing the motor to momentarily decelerate. Then it resumes power so the motor quickly accelerates back to its main operating frequency.

This brief slowdown-speedup cycle happens within milliseconds and sounds like a thump-thump-thump tapping. And it feels like deeper, more rumbly vibrations than the main frequency (because it’s actually decelerating briefly through lower frequencies).

Fun Factory Laya III and We-Vibe Touch X Frequency Analysis graphs side by side for comparison, showing that the Laya 3 has more energy surrounding its main frequency
Above are graphs of the Fun Factory Laya III’s (top) and We-Vibe Touch X’s (bottom) frequency analysis. The Laya has the tapping effect, but the Touch X does not. Notice how the Laya vibrates at 87 Hz (the largest spike corresponding with its main frequency), but the brief start-stop cycle adds little spikes of energy at nearby surrounding frequencies too. In contrast, the Touch X’s typical motor has a clean spike at its vibrating frequency (84 Hz), but lacks these additional spikes in the immediate surrounding frequencies.

All this is happening so fast, many times each second, that it feels like you’re always experiencing both the main vibration frequency and a more rumbly vibration frequency at the same time.

I love this innovation because I think both rumbly and neutral vibrations have benefits. Rumbly vibrations travel deeper and stimulate more nerves beneath the surface. But neutral (and buzzy) vibrations provide a surface-level kick that I also enjoy.

On the Fun Factory Laya III’s top settings I get the benefit of both types of vibrations – the concentrated, surface-level kick from the neutral vibes and the deeper stimulation from the rumbly tapping effect. It’s not an out-of-this-world difference, but I think it improves upon ordinary vibrations. And I enjoy this feeling more than normal rumbly vibes.

I’ve noticed a similar tapping effect in a few other rumbly mini-vibrators, like the We-Vibe Touch X and Je Joue Amour, but only on their lowest levels (which are already rumbly). But the Laya III keeps this deep, tapping sensation through all its power levels, even up to the top strength. So it’s the only one I’ve tried that feels like it combines neutral and rumbly vibes.

Fun Factory Laya III with We-Vibe Touch X and Je Joue Amour
The Fun Factory Laya III (left) and others I notice the “tapping” sensation on the lower levels, the We-Vibe Touch X (middle) and Je Joue Amour (right). But the Laya is the only one that keeps this tapping effect even on its highest settings.

If you prefer only rumbly vibrations, you could stick to the lower power levels of the Laya III, which have a rumbly main frequency and a deeper tapping. Or go with the purely rumbly We-Vibe Tango X.

Fun Factory Laya III and We-Vibe Tango X
The Fun Factory Laya III (left) with the rumblier We-Vibe Tango X (right)

But the Fun Factory Laya III is right in my sweet spot. My favorite vibrations have a neutral feel, with a little overlap into the moderate levels of rumbly and buzzy. The Laya III fits really well with this preference.

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision

What is it:

How focused or broad the stimulation feels compared to other mini and bullet vibrators.

When does it matter:

If you prefer stimulation focused in a small, precise area or enjoy it spread out over more of your vulva. It’s a personal preference.

Fun Factory Laya III Typical Tip Width Photo with Calipers

Precision:

Medium

Head or Tip Width:

1.28 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Tip Shape:

Wide

What is it:

The shape of the bullet or mini vibrator’s tip.

When it matters:

The tip’s shape affects how broad or precise the stimulation feels. And it affects how much you can vary the stimulation. Lipstick-shaped and tapered vibrators provide very focused stimulation when using the tip or moderate precision when using the side of the toy. Rounded heads stay in that moderate range of precision. And others can be broader.

The Fun Factory Laya III provides lovely broad stimulation when using its entire length to hug your vulva. Or you can get a medium amount of precision when holding it like an ordinary vibrator, pressing the tip to your clit.

Varying the Stimulation Precision of Fun Factory Laya III
You can have very broad contact or slightly broad contact based on how you angle the toy

So this lay-on vibrator is best for people who prefer moderate to broad precision.

I wanted to clarify this because the Fun Factory Laya is marketed as also offering “pinpoint” stimulation using the ridges. But while the ridges provide an enjoyable texture, they are too small and un-pronounced to provide focused stimulation, like a typical bullet vibrator does. Your body cannot feel each ridge on its own.

Ridges of Fun Factory Laya III
he ridges provide fun texture but they’re not pronounced enough to offer “focused” stimulation

If you prefer something that offers both broad and focused stimulation, consider the We-Vibe Touch X—you can use the flatter surface for broad stimulation or the slim tapered tip for focused stimulation.

We-Vibe Touch X Broad or Precise Stimulation
The We-Vibe Touch X which provides very precise or broad coverage

But for those who enjoy broad coverage, the Laya is excellent! It blankets the whole vulva for direct but comfortably diffuse stimulation.

The Fun Factory Laya III is very comfortable and easy to use.

Even though there’s not an obvious handle, there are several convenient and comfortable ways to hold the Laya III. It takes a little getting used to if you’re accustomed to bullet vibrators because it’s girthier and curved, but I’ve found this makes it more versatile. You can leverage it easily with your fingers or simply rest your palm over it and lightly press it to your vulva.

Grip Points on Fun Factory Laya III
Different ways you can hold and leverage the Fun Factory Laya III

When lying on top of the Laya, it’s very comfortable if you’re only pressing your body lightly against it. It curves along your body and spreads the vibrations over the whole area, which keeps the direct contact comfortable.

Fun Factory Laya III Overlay of Lay On Use

If you want to press your hips into it, you may have to take your time to find a comfortable angle to lay the vibrator –  the Laya’s very firm, so in some positions, it can be uncomfortable to press too hard into it. If I want to press harder into the Laya, I’ve found using blankets or a pillow beneath the Laya to adjust its angle makes it more comfortable and provides some cushioning. Or you can slip your hand under your body to hold the Laya tilted at the angle you like.

Using a Pillow to Adjust Angle of Laya III
If you lay on top of the Fun Factory Laya III you can find a comfortable angle by propping it on a pillow or blanket

When using the Laya as an ordinary handheld vibrator, you can feel the vibrations in your hand—but that’s mostly when you’re holding it in the air. I don’t feel them much once I press the Fun Factory Laya to my body, and I don’t find them distracting at all, even on high power.

The curved shape makes it easy to apply excellent pressure whether you’re gripping it or using it hands-free by pressing your hips down into it. Because it’s very firm (not plush like the We-Vibe Touch X or Magic Wand Micro), you may have to limit how much pressure you apply to keep it comfortable against your body. But with the powerful, layered vibrations, I don’t have to press hard to get excellent clit stimulation.

Firm Fun Factory Laya III Compared to Squishy Tip of We-Vibe Touch X
The We-Vibe Touch X (right) has more cushioning than the Fun Factory Laya III (left)

The buttons are positioned above the part of the Laya in contact with your clit, so pressing a button also pushes the Laya against you more firmly. If you don’t like that firm contact, you can simply move the toy away from your body briefly while you change the power.

Controls on the Fun Factory Laya III
How to control the Fun Factory Laya III

The controls themselves are excellent. The “+” and “-” buttons allow you to tap back and forth through the 7 power levels and 3 patterns. You don’t need to cycle through power levels to return to a previous setting, as many mini vibrators require you to do. You can also press and hold the Laya’s buttons to make even more gradual adjustments.

The Fun Factory Laya III is one of my favorite mini vibrators to use during sex.

First, you can use it as a lay-on vibrator during sex for hands-free clit stimulation (discussed in depth above). If you don’t want to hold the Laya, you can lie face down with the vibrator sandwiched between your vulva and the bed (or a pillow) while your partner penetrates from behind. This is one of the main reasons I love the Laya III and use it so much!

If you don’t want to limit yourself to the position I mentioned above, it’s also great when you hold the Fun Factory Laya and use it like a normal handheld vibrator.

Using Hand to Press Laya in While Laying
You can use your whole hand to press the toy against you

In sex positions with a lot of space to maneuver, like Spooning, there are many comfortable ways to use the Laya. You can rest your palm over the toy to press its contoured shape comfortably along your body. Or you can hold the end and angle it against you for firmer pressure. It’s very comfortable and keeps great contact with my clit, even during a lot of movement.

It’s also excellent in Missionary or other positions facing your partner. The curved design helps it fit seamlessly between your bodies, even when space is limited in these face-to-face positions. The curved shape also makes leveraging the Laya to apply pressure during sex easy. Occasionally, if my partner’s thrusting fast or his body bumps into my hand, the Laya can press mildly uncomfortably into my clit since it’s so firm. But this is rare and I haven’t found it to be a major issue.

The layered, rumbly vibrations also travel deep into my body which is very stimulating during sex.

The Fun Factory Laya III’s noise levels are sub-par. The vibrations are often very quiet, only reaching 42.1 dB on high power. But when you hold the Laya in certain ways, it makes a louder rattling sound.

The rattling mostly happens when I’m holding the toy in the open air instead of pressed against my body. So when you move the Laya off your body to adjust its position, it’s likely to make this louder noise.

The Fun Factory Laya III can make a rattling sound

When we tested whether my partner could hear the Laya behind our closed bedroom door, he began hearing the rattling sound when I turned the Laya to power level 4 and above. But when I kept the Laya pressed to my body to prevent the rattling, he could not hear the vibrations on any power level or setting.

When I turned on a low-power box fan in the bedroom to mask the Laya’s noise, my partner said he could still barely hear the Laya rattling on its top setting – but only since he was standing right at the door trying to listen for it. He didn’t think anyone would notice it in a normal circumstance.

Playing music in the bedroom successfully masked the sound of the rattle.
Since I love everything else about this toy and we live alone, the noise issue doesn’t bother me, so I still use the Laya often. But if you have housemates, the We-Vibe Touch X is much quieter.

Fun Factory Laya III Charging Cable Photo

Battery Life on High Power:

103 minutes

Power Source:

Rechargeable

Charging Cable:

Magnetic

The Fun Factory Laya III is rechargeable and has a great battery life, lasting 103 minutes on its highest power in our test. This is longer than most of my bullet and mini vibrators, even than stronger ones. So it’s an excellent choice if you want a mini-vibrator with a long battery life.

You charge it with the included magnetic USB charging cable. One downside is that it takes 6-7 hours to fully charge, whereas most take just 1-2 hours. So you’ll want to plan ahead to keep the Laya charged. I typically charge it after every use, just in case.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating:

10.0

What is it:

Our perception of the bullet or mini vibrator’s durability and material quality; whether it feels cheap or sturdy and long-lasting. If we noticed any decline in a vibrator’s performance over our months of testing, it is accounted for in its Build Quality rating.

When does it matter:

When you want a vibrator to last for years. Many vibrator manufacturers provide a warranty (usually 1 to 2 years), but a higher quality vibrator is more likely to endure after your warranty is expired.

Fun Factory Laya III Build Quality Photo

The Fun Factory Laya III has a fantastic build quality (except for the rattling sound discussed above). The body-safe silicone feels very luxurious, and the ridges provide a grippy texture I really like. It has a nice weight, which feels high-quality in the hand. I also like the feel of the button click. The buttons are raised, so you can feel them without looking. The Laya feels solid and not easily breakable, with no bendy parts at risk of overstress.

I also love the color I got—“Sage Green,” a muted, more neutral-feeling color that is rare in the hot pink world of sex toys.

Cleaning

Cleaning Rating

10.0

What is it:

How easy the bullet or mini vibrator is to clean. Vibrators with an IPX6 (water-resistant) or IPX7 (waterproof) rating are super easy to clean under a running sink. For vibrators without a waterproof rating, I subjectively rate how difficult it is to clean.

When does it matter:

If you’re worried about damaging your toy with water. Or if you won’t use your vibrator as much if cleaning is tedious.

Fun Factory Laya III Waterproof Rating Demonstration

Waterproof Rating:

IPX7

What is it:

The bullet or mini vibrator’s waterproof rating – IPX7, IPX6, or No Rating

When does it matter:

When you plan to use your vibrator in the shower, bath, or want simpler cleaning.

  • IPX7 (Submersible): Vibrators with this rating are “waterproof.” You can submerge them in water up to a meter deep for up to 30 minutes. So you can use them in the bath and cleaning is easy.
  • IPX6 (Water Resistant): Vibrators with this rating can resist high-pressure, heavy sprays of water, but should not be fully submerged. This means you can use them in the shower (but not submerged in a bath). You can also clean them under a sink faucet without worry.
  • No Rating: These vibrators do not have a waterproof rating. You should not use them in the shower, and you must be careful to keep water away from electronic components when cleaning them.

Since the Fun Factory Laya III is IPX7 waterproof, it’s very easy to clean. You can fully submerge it while scrubbing with soap and water without worrying about damaging the toy. And you can also take it with you in the bath!

General Design and Specs

Size and Weight

Fun Factory Laya III Vibrator Length Measurement with Calipers Photo

Length:

4.2 inches

What is it:

How long the bullet or mini vibrator is, measured from the base to the tip.

When does it matter:

In general, longer mini and bullet vibrators are easier to hold, maneuver, and leverage. These types of vibrators are smaller than most, so some additional length can provide a more comfortable grip.

Fun Factory Laya III Typical Tip Width Photo with Calipers

Head or Tip Width:

1.28 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Fun Factory Laya III Weight Measured on a Scale Photo

Weight:

3.4 ounces

What is it:

How heavy the bullet vibrator or mini vibrator is, measured with a digital scale.

When does it matter:

The weight of a bullet or mini vibrator is not that important, because they’re all relatively light (around 0.6 to 5.0 ounces). They’re not heavy like wand vibrators which can weigh up to 25 ounces and can be difficult to maneuver. A slightly heavier bullet or mini vibrator can feel sturdier, more durable, and higher quality.

Design Features

Fun Factory Laya III Vibrator Shape Photo

Vibrator Shape:

Palm

What is it:

The general shape of the mini or bullet vibrator.

When it matters:

Most bullet vibrators have a basic, straight design. Angled bullet vibrators can be easier to leverage and apply pressure. An angled shape can also help a bullet vibrator fit more easily between bodies during sex. We use the word “palm” to refer to mini vibrators designed to fit in the palm of your hand. Palm vibrators generally provide broader stimulation than bullet vibrators.

Fun Factory Laya III Tip Shape Photo

Head or Tip Shape:

Wide

Head or Tip Firmness

Firm

What is it:

Whether the vibrator’s tip is firm or plush.

Fun Factory Laya III Rigidity and Flexibility Photo

Flexibility:

Rigid

What is it:

How flexible or rigid the mini or bullet vibrator is.

When does it matter:

It’s generally a personal preference. A slightly flexible vibrator can be more comfortable to use, especially if the vibrator is very firm. However, too much flexibility makes it harder to apply substantial pressure since the vibrator’s tip can flex away.

Materials:

Silicone

What is it:

The material of the mini or bullet vibrator’s body and handle.

When it matters:

Only non-porous materials (including ABS plastic, silicone, some metals, and some other materials) are body-safe since they can be fully sanitized. Every bullet and mini vibrator we review is made using body-safe materials. The choice between different safe materials is a personal preference. Some people enjoy how smooth ABS Plastic feels. Others find silicone feels higher-quality to them. Or the additional weight and shine of a metal vibrator can make it feel luxurious.

The Fun Factory Laya III is an excellent mini vibrator that’s unique and extremely versatile.

The Laya is one of the mini vibrators I always keep nearby, not tucked away in a box after testing it. I especially love the lay-on use. Lying on top of it for hands-free clit stimulation during sex is great – my partner and I enjoy it this way often.

Using it as a normal mini vibrator is great too. It’s got a broad power range, a substantial top strength, and a versatile frequency range from rumbly to neutral. The tapping effect that adds a more rumbly feeling beneath the main vibrations is also interesting and makes the vibrations feel better. I like that it combines the benefits of neutral and rumbly vibrations simultaneously.

It often makes a rattling noise, so it’s not the best choice for those who need to be extremely discreet. Otherwise, it’s excellent and one of my favorites.

Compare Alternatives

We-Vibe Touch X

The We-Vibe Touch X and Fun Factory Laya III have very comparable performance and are two of my favorite broad mini-vibrators.

Fun Factory Laya III and We-Vibe Touch X

The Touch X is better if you need discreet noise levels because it’s one of my quietest mini vibrators while still having excellent power. It doesn’t rattle like the Laya can. The Touch X doesn’t have the same lay-on features that the Laya does though. So the Laya is better if you want to try some hands-free fun.

They have nearly identical vibrations, with a similar starting power, the same top vibration strength, and a frequency ranging from extremely rumbly to neutral. The We-Vibe Touch X feels like it has a similar “tapping effect” on its lowest power levels, but this is gone on the top settings. Whereas the Fun Factory Laya layers this tapping effect over the vibrations on every power level.

They both have allow gradual power adjustments with separate controls to increase and decrease power, so it’s easy to find the exact intensity level you need.

The Touch X is slightly less expensive than the Laya, but both are excellent premium mini-vibrators.

We-Vibe Tango X

The We-Vibe Tango X and Fun Factory Laya III are both excellent vibrators that serve different preferences and purposes. As a slim bullet vibrator, the We-Vibe Tango X provides very precise stimulation compared to the Fun Factory Laya’s broad coverage. So it’s better for people who like to keep the stimulation focused in a tight area.

Fun Factory Laya III and We-Vibe Tango X

The Tango X’s vibrations are also entirely rumbly, never becoming neutral on high. Some people prefer these very deep vibrations. But others, including me, like that the Laya’s highest setting provides more impact at the surface from their neutral quality.

The Laya has a gentler starting power, but they reach the same top strength, and both offer comfortably gradual power adjustments. The Tango X is about $30 cheaper, so it’s a great option if you’re looking for something rumblier with more focused stimulation.

The Tango X is purely handheld – it doesn’t offer the lay-on use of the Laya.

Fun Factory Laya II

The Fun Factory Laya III is the newer version of the Fun Factory Laya II. I didn’t have the previous version before it became unavailable, so I can only share the facts about what’s changed but not my opinions on the older version. (If anyone knows where I can still buy a Laya II to test for myself, let me know in the comments or contact us).

The biggest difference is that the Fun Factory III added the tapping effect. The previous version had a typical motor that ran only at the specified frequency. So the Laya II would not have had the combined benefits of the rumbly and neutral vibrations.

Other than that, the changes were mostly small adjustments to the design. The Fun Factory Laya II was entirely smooth – it did not have the ridges of the newest version. And it only had 4 power levels compared to the Laya III’s 7 levels, although it did have a couple more patterns.
