Our Verdict

The Doxy Bullet has a ton of power but no lower vibration settings that most people need to warm up with. The vibrations are also very buzzy, which can feel overwhelming at this intense power level. The vibrations travel into my hands and are distractingly loud.

Overall, there are much better options at this price point.

If you enjoy extreme power like the Doxy Bullet has, the Blush Limited Addiction and FemmeFunn Booster Bullet have comparable vibration strength. But they also provide some less intense levels that the Doxy is missing – and they improve on the Doxy in other areas.

Or if you want something with deeper, rumblier vibrations, the We-Vibe Tango X or We-Vibe Touch X are some of my favorites. Though not quite as extreme as the Doxy, these still reach high strengths.

Pros

  • One of the strongest bullet vibrators I've tested
  • 1.5-hour battery life is pretty long for its extreme power
  • The aluminum exterior feels high-quality

Cons

  • Every setting is immensely powerful - there are no gentle warmup levels.
  • It's extremely buzzy (to the point I find it overwhelming)
  • Lots of uncomfortable vibrations in your hand
  • One-button cycling to control power and patterns
  • Exceptionally loud

Doxy Bullet with other bullet and mini vibrators in background

The Doxy Bullet is a high-end bullet vibrator from the brand famous for its powerful Doxy wand massagers. It has some luxurious features with its high price tag: the Doxy Bullet is made of anodized aluminum in silver or rose gold with a nice silicone button. And it comes with a luxurious aluminum storage case. But otherwise, it’s fairly basic. It has just 2 intensity levels and 5 vibration patterns.

Compare Bullet & Mini Vibrators

You can filter this table by products’ performance and price using our comparison table tool here.

The Doxy Bullet is powerful, but it’s worse overall than other bullet vibrators in this price range. It’s terribly loud, super buzzy, and the vibrations in my hand are wildly uncomfortable. The FemmeFunn Booster Bullet or Blush Limited Addiction are more comfortable options for those who want excellent vibration strength. If rumbly vibrations are your top priority, the We-Vibe Tango X or We-Vibe Touch X are better choices than the Doxy Bullet, although they are less powerful.

Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating

What is it:

How wide the range is between the highest and lowest power levels, and whether it has enough power levels that steps between settings are comfortable.

When does it matter:

A broad power range with many intensity levels is always more versatile. You can warm up with softer levels when your body isn’t ready for intense vibrations. But when you want more strength, you can turn it up high. A broad power range is also more likely to include settings at your ideal strength.

Power vs Frequency Graph:

What is it:

A graph of each bullet and mini vibrator’s power vs frequency across all of its power levels.

When does it matter:

If you want a detailed look at the vibrator’s full power and frequency characteristics. This tells you how strong and how rumbly each setting feels. You can also compare two vibrators on the same graph using our graph comparison tool here.

How Strong Is Each Power? (Click to Expand Definitions)

  • Power < 2.7: Too weak for me to orgasm, but great while warming up.
  • Power between 2.7 and 6.0: Strong enough for me to orgasm, but takes some effort. Good while warming up.
  • Power between 6.0 and 9.0: I orgasm effortlessly and reliably. These are the settings I typically finish with.
  • Power ≥ 9.0: Extreme power. Way more than I need to orgasm – I rarely use these.

The Doxy Bullet has incredible strength. Vibration strength is the Doxy brand’s specialty – they also make the strongest wand vibrator I’ve tested (the Doxy Die Cast). Its enormous strength makes the Doxy Bullet appealing to those who crave intensity.

Doxy Bullet and Doxy Die Cast
Two of my Doxy products, the Doxy Bullet (left) and Doxy Die Cast wand (right)

But with only 2 power levels, its lowest setting is already very intense at 7.5 out of 10 vibration strength. It provides no gentle settings for those who need a warmup.

While testing the Doxy bullet, I had to use gentler bullets initially, then switch to the Doxy once I was ready for more power. I think most people will agree that the starting level is too intense. There are other options at this price point that achieve high strength but also include some lower levels that are better for warm-up.

Blush Limited Addicion with Doxy Bullet and BMS Swan Maximum Bullet
The Doxy Bullet (middle) with two comparably powerful bullets that also provide better warmup settings: Blush Limited Addiction (left) and BMS Swan Maximum (right)

The Blush Limited Addiction is my only other bullet that matches the Doxy’s top strength so far. With 5 power levels beginning at a 5 out of 10 strength, it offers more moderate starting levels (though still nothing super gentle), which can be less jarring in that warm-up phase.

Or the BMS Swan Maximum is an even more powerful bullet with a broader power range, but I find it less comfortable to hold, so I prefer the Limited Addiction personally.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating:

5.3

What is it:

How “rumbly” (low frequency) or “buzzy” (high frequency) the vibrator feels. And whether it delivers strong vibrations while remaining reasonably rumbly. Higher scores indicate a “more rumbly” (lower-frequency) bullet or mini vibrator, since the majority of people prefer rumbliness. But ultimately vibration frequency is a personal preference.

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a specific area along the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. Rumbly vibrations spread out more and you feel them deeper. Whereas you feel buzzy vibrations nearer to the surface and more concentrated around the point of contact. Both can feel good, and which you enjoy more is a personal preference.

What is it:

What part of the frequency spectrum the vibrator’s power levels are centered around. It’s the vibration frequency of the middle power level (the average of the two middle levels if there is an even number of settings).

When does it matter:

If you prefer vibrations in a particular part of the rumbly-to-buzzy spectrum. This provides a quick way to see whether one vibrator’s settings are generally more rumbly or buzzy than another vibrator’s. Since most people prefer rumbly toys, we give higher scores to lower-frequency (more rumbly) vibrators. But ultimately, it’s a personal preference.

Rumbliness & Power Balance:

5.6

What is it:

A measure that rewards bullet and mini vibrators that remain rumbly (low-frequency) while packing good vibration strength. In other words, a bullet vibrator that is strong, but buzzy will perform poorly in this metric. Likewise, a bullet vibrator that is rumbly, but weak will also perform poorly. Only bullet and mini vibrators with strong, rumbly vibrations will have a high rating here. Calculated using the average normalized power / normalized frequency of the vibrator’s settings, with a derating factor applied to buzzy settings.

When does it matter:

If you want a bullet or mini vibrator with a good balance of power and rumbliness.

Show All Scores (Click to See):

Since most people prefer rumbly vibrations, we rate these bullets higher than buzzy ones. However, your preferred vibration frequency is just that – a personal preference! I often enjoy a neutral or moderately-buzzy feeling bullet myself!

However, buzziness combined with extreme power typically feels overwhelming and uncomfortable to me. And that’s exactly what the Doxy Bullet is: extreme in both power and buzziness.

The Doxy Bullet’s first setting falls in the moderately buzzy range. Some days, I still find this first buzzy setting overwhelming, even after warming up with a gentler bullet first. The second setting is extremely buzzy and super intense. While some people might enjoy that much buzzy strength, it’s too much for me and is hard to use.

Doxy Bullet with Rumblier Lovense Ambi and We-Vibe Tango X
The Doxy Bullet (left) with rumblier alternatives, the Lovense Ambi (middle) and We-Vibe Tango X (right)

If you prefer rumbly vibrations, consider a different bullet. The We-Vibe Tango X is the most rumbly bullet I’ve tested – all 8 of its power levels are extremely rumbly. Or if you enjoy some buzziness, but not too extreme, the Lovense Ambi is excellent. It ranges from extremely rumbly on low to moderately buzzy on high. But because it’s not so far along the spectrum, I enjoy its buzzy settings.

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision

What is it:

How focused or broad the stimulation feels compared to other mini and bullet vibrators.

When does it matter:

If you prefer stimulation focused in a small, precise area or enjoy it spread out over more of your vulva. It’s a personal preference.

Doxy Bullet Typical Tip Width Photo

Precision:

Medium

Head or Tip Width:

0.98 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Tip Shape:

Tapered

What is it:

The shape of the bullet or mini vibrator’s tip.

When it matters:

The tip’s shape affects how broad or precise the stimulation feels. And it affects how much you can vary the stimulation. Lipstick-shaped and tapered vibrators provide very focused stimulation when using the tip or moderate precision when using the side of the toy. Rounded heads stay in that moderate range of precision. And others can be broader.

The Doxy’s precision level is medium. It does have a tapered tip for more precise stimulation, but it’s a pretty thick bullet. I enjoy this combination of a fine tip and thicker bullet for the versatility. You can use the very tip for more focused stimulation. And then, you can angle the Doxy Bullet to press the side against you for slightly broader stimulation.

Precise, medium, and broad tip coverage examples

The We-Vibe Tango X, the Blush Limited Addiction, the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet, and the Je Joue Classic are some bullets with similarly versatile precision but better performance overall.

The Doxy is a nice size to grip and easily leverage. But it’s one of my worst bullets for feeling the vibrations in my hand. It’s one of the main reasons I don’t reach for this toy. I can only hold it briefly before the hand vibrations become unbearable.

Doxy Bullet Button Compared to Multiple Buttons on We-Vibe Tango X
The Doxy Bullet’s one control button (left) compared to the multi-button system of the We-Vibe Tango X (right)

It has one button on the end of the bullet to cycle through the two power levels and all the patterns. It’s not ideal for quickly finding your favorite setting. I prefer the Je Joue Classic and We-Vibe Tango X’s multi-button system, which lets you increase and decrease power using separate buttons to make quick, easy adjustments.

Lovense Ambi and Lovense Remote app
The Lovense Ambi, one of my few bullets that can be controlled via an app

Or the Lovense Ambi, which only has one button on the toy itself, but lets you make fine-tuned adjustments through the app. Not to mention the ability to design your own custom patterns in the moment.

Unfortunately, the vibes that travel into my hand make the Doxy Bullet very distracting during sex. The sound is also a downfall – it is the loudest of my bullets and just takes me out of the mood. The hard, aluminum surface also gets pressed uncomfortably into my body during sex. For those who care about using their bullet during sex, I recommend other options.

If you prefer strong, neutral to buzzy vibrations, consider the FemmeFunn Booster Bullet or Lovense Ambi. Or if you like rumbly vibrations, consider the We-Vibe Tango X. Each is better during sex than the Doxy Bullet.

So it’s not a great choice if you have housemates.

And even if there’s no need for discretion, the sound is just plain distracting. Any other bullet you might be eyeing on my list will be better because none of the others bother me like the Doxy Bullet.

What is it:

The bullet or mini vibrator’s waterproof rating – IPX7, IPX6, or No Rating

When does it matter:

When you plan to use your vibrator in the shower, bath, or want simpler cleaning.

  • IPX7 (Submersible): Vibrators with this rating are “waterproof.” You can submerge them in water up to a meter deep for up to 30 minutes. So you can use them in the bath and cleaning is easy.
  • IPX6 (Water Resistant): Vibrators with this rating can resist high-pressure, heavy sprays of water, but should not be fully submerged. This means you can use them in the shower (but not submerged in a bath). You can also clean them under a sink faucet without worry.
  • No Rating: These vibrators do not have a waterproof rating. You should not use them in the shower, and you must be careful to keep water away from electronic components when cleaning them.

The Doxy Bullet is very easy to clean. It’s IPX7 waterproof (completely submersible), so you can wash it in the sink and use it in the bath.

General Design and Specs

Size and Weight

Doxy Bullet Vibrator Length Measurement with Calipers Photo

Length:

4.6 inches

What is it:

How long the bullet or mini vibrator is, measured from the base to the tip.

When does it matter:

In general, longer mini and bullet vibrators are easier to hold, maneuver, and leverage. These types of vibrators are smaller than most, so some additional length can provide a more comfortable grip.

Doxy Bullet Typical Tip Width Photo

Head or Tip Width:

0.98 inches

What is it:

The width of the vibrator’s head or tip measured at the part of the vibrator in contact with my body during normal use. For most bullet vibrators, it’s the width of the toy right before it begins to taper. For uniquely-shaped mini vibrators it’s a subjective location I determine based on my experience using the vibrator.

When does it matter:

If you enjoy broader stimulation you’ll will want a greater tip width. If you prefer precise stimulation, you’ll want a narrower tip width.

Doxy Bullet Weight Measured on a Scale Photo

Weight:

2.9 ounces

What is it:

How heavy the bullet vibrator or mini vibrator is, measured with a digital scale.

When does it matter:

The weight of a bullet or mini vibrator is not that important, because they’re all relatively light (around 0.6 to 5.0 ounces). They’re not heavy like wand vibrators which can weigh up to 25 ounces and can be difficult to maneuver. A slightly heavier bullet or mini vibrator can feel sturdier, more durable, and higher quality.

Design Features

Doxy Bullet Vibrator Shape Photo

Vibrator Shape:

Straight

What is it:

The general shape of the mini or bullet vibrator.

When it matters:

Most bullet vibrators have a basic, straight design. Angled bullet vibrators can be easier to leverage and apply pressure. An angled shape can also help a bullet vibrator fit more easily between bodies during sex. We use the word “palm” to refer to mini vibrators designed to fit in the palm of your hand. Palm vibrators generally provide broader stimulation than bullet vibrators.

Doxy Bullet Tip Shape Photo

Head or Tip Shape:

Tapered

Head or Tip Firmness

Firm

What is it:

Whether the vibrator’s tip is firm or plush.

Doxy Bullet Rigidity and Flexibility Photo

Flexibility:

Rigid

What is it:

How flexible or rigid the mini or bullet vibrator is.

When does it matter:

It’s generally a personal preference. A slightly flexible vibrator can be more comfortable to use, especially if the vibrator is very firm. However, too much flexibility makes it harder to apply substantial pressure since the vibrator’s tip can flex away.

Materials:

Aluminum

What is it:

The material of the mini or bullet vibrator’s body and handle.

When it matters:

Only non-porous materials (including ABS plastic, silicone, some metals, and some other materials) are body-safe since they can be fully sanitized. Every bullet and mini vibrator we review is made using body-safe materials. The choice between different safe materials is a personal preference. Some people enjoy how smooth ABS Plastic feels. Others find silicone feels higher-quality to them. Or the additional weight and shine of a metal vibrator can make it feel luxurious.

Review Results

The Doxy Bullet is an extremely powerful bullet vibrator, but it underperforms in most areas, which is disappointing for the high price point. It doesn’t offer any gentle or mid-power levels for a warm-up, and the combination of extreme buzziness and extreme strength will feel overwhelming to many people.

Doxy Bullet and Case on Table

The vibrations travel into my hands too much for comfort, and the noise level is distracting. And while it does have a nice, luxurious aluminum finish, you can find excellent quality in other bullets too.

Whether you want a premium toy or something powerful like the Doxy, there are better options you can choose from, including the bullet vibrators below.

Lovense Ambi

Doxy Bullet and Lovense Ambi

The Lovense Ambi is more versatile than the Doxy Bullet, both in vibration strength and rumbliness. It ranges from extremely rumbly on low power to moderately buzzy on high. Whereas the Doxy Bullet is only buzzy. The Ambi begins with gentle vibrations at a 1.5 out of 10 strength. Using the Lovense app, you can work gradually through 20 intensity levels up to 8.0 on high which is still plenty of intensity for me. The Ambi’s power range that includes gentler settings is much better for those who need a warmup. It’s a high-quality silicone bullet, and I prefer it to the Doxy.

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet and Doxy Bullet

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has even more power than the Doxy Bullet. But more importantly, it also has gentle warmup levels too that the Doxy Bullet lacks. You can increase power in tiny increments, so it provides a better journey than the Doxy Bullet which can be overstimulating without a warmup.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is also less expensive than the Doxy Bullet, has a longer battery life, and I think it’s a better choice overall.

FemmeFunn Booster Bullet

Doxy Bullet and FemmeFunn Booster Bullet

This is a great option if you still want extreme strength but need less intense settings too. The FemmeFunn Booster Bullet begins at a 4.75 out of 10 for strength on low power (compared to the Doxy’s 7.5) and reaches a 9.5 on high. So it still doesn’t have super gentle settings, but the medium strength is comfortable to me. It’s coated in silicone and has a flexible core that’s very comfortable against the body. Like the Doxy Bullet, the FemmeFunn Booster is also fairly buzzy. But it’s not as extreme. I find it enjoyable, whereas the Doxy feels uncomfortable.

Blush Limited Addiction

Doxy Bullet and Blush Limited Addiction

The Blush Limited Addiction is an excellent budget alternative to the Doxy Bullet that is just as powerful! Unlike the Doxy Bullet, the Blush Limited Addiction has mid-strength power levels for a better warmup, starting at 5 out of 10. It has a firm core like the Doxy, and a lipstick shape, which allows for both precise and a more medium-breadth of contact.

We-Vibe Tango X

This is an excellent alternative if you prefer incredibly rumbly vibrations. The We-Vibe Tango X has a great power range too – starting at 2.5 and reaching 7.75 out of 10 for strength. Not as strong as the Doxy, but still powerful. And the Tango X includes better gentle levels. Every one of the Tango X’s intensity levels is extremely rumbly, which many people will prefer over the Doxy Bullet’s extremely buzzy vibrations.

We-Vibe Touch X

Doxy Bullet and We-Vibe Touch X

The We-Vibe Touch X is a high-quality, rumbly option that provides broader stimulation than the Doxy Bullet. It has a wider power range spanning from 1.5 to 7.75 out of 10 vibration strength. The silky, plush silicone is smooth and luxurious. I love how it feels, and it’s one of my favorites.
