Nu Sensuelle Point vs Fun Factory Laya III Side-By-Side Comparison
Performance Ratings
Our Verdict
The Nu Sensuelle Point is a good, reasonably priced bullet vibrator. However, several cheaper bullet vibrators are just as good or better. For instance, the Nasstoys Intense Travel Vibe Mini is nearly identical at a much lower price.
The Nu Sensuelle Point has excellent vibration power, although it is a bit buzzy, which some people will not enjoy. Unfortunately, there are no gentle settings, so if you need a mild warmup, you’ll have to use another vibrator first.
It also has too many settings for its one-button control system. If you want to lower the power, you’ll need to cycle through all 10 power levels and 10 vibration patterns which takes forever. For most people, there are better bullet vibrators at more affordable prices – compare options here.
The Fun Factory Laya III is one of my favorite mini vibrators! It has excellent performance overall, but two aspects especially set it apart and keep me reaching for the Laya:
- I get excellent hands-free clit stimulation when lying on top of the Laya – my partner and I love using it like this during sex!
- The Laya’s motor operates in a way that adds a unique tapping effect, which combines the benefits of rumbly and neutral vibrations – it feels more layered and very satisfying.
It has a great power range from gentle to intense, and the controls allow you to gradually and comfortably work your way through the settings. It has an excellent battery life and is waterproof, so cleaning is easy. Overall, it’s great!
Noise is the only area it underperforms – it can make a rattling sound when held in certain ways, but it’s still quiet enough for most people. If excellent noise levels are a big priority, the We-Vibe Touch X may be a better choice for you.
But the Fun Factory Laya is one of my personal favorites and most used mini vibrators, especially for the lay-on use!
Vibrations: Power And Range
The Nu Sensuelle Point has excellent intensity but a very limited power range. It has 10 intensity levels, starting at a 6 out of 10 vibration strength and reaching 8.75 out of 10 on high.
Although having 10 intensity levels sounds like a lot, they’re all very close together. So, they don’t actually provide much variety. And with only a single button to cycle through settings, having 10 levels is more of a chore than a benefit. I prefer the nearly identical Nasstoys Intense Travel Vibe Mini, which spans the same power range with just 3 convenient settings.
Another significant factor to consider here is that there are no gentle settings, which some people need while warming up.
I often start at a gentler strength – around a 5 out of 10 or lower. Then, as I’m ready for more power, I can gradually work my way up. You won’t find this with the Nu Sensuelle Point, so it’s best for those who aren’t worried about overstimulation and prefer to start strong.
For a cheaper option with a slightly broader power range, the Blush Limited Addiction starts at a 5 out of 10 and reaches an extremely high strength of 10 out of 10!
For an even wider range, the Lovense Ambi ranges from 1.5 out of 10 on low to 8 out of 10 on high, so it has plenty of mild levels to enjoy while warming up.
The Fun Factory Laya III has a fantastic, wide power range, beginning softly and finishing intensely.
The first of 7 settings is a 1 out of 10 vibration strength, so those worried about overstimulation have gentle levels to enjoy. The first couple of settings feel especially “tappy,” which is a stimulating warmup without feeling overwhelming at all.
Power lovers will also be happy with the substantial top strength of 7.75. While there are a few more powerful bullet and mini vibrators, like the BMS Swan Maximum, the Laya has plenty of strength for me and most people. I orgasm on any preset power level between 4 and 7 – I usually don’t need to use the top strength.
Steps between settings are also comfortably gradual. You can also press and hold the “+” and “-” buttons to make micro-adjustments to the strength. This means it’s easy to find your ideal intensity and keep the journey comfortable.
Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)
We rate bullets with rumbly vibrations higher than those with buzzy ones because it’s what most people want. But it’s a personal preference!
The Nu Sensuelle Point has decent rumbliness for its power. The first 3 power levels are in the rumbly range, so you have some rumbly options! Even though these are the softest power levels, the Nu Sensuelle Point’s low settings start with a solid kick at a 6 out of 10 strength. So these rumbly vibrations pack substantial impact.
I consider the next three settings neutral – neither rumbly nor buzzy. I enjoy these neutral settings, but they may disappoint you if you prefer rumbly vibrations. The rest of the settings are moderately buzzy. If you like intense, buzzy vibrations, you’ll enjoy these settings.
It’s important to know that you can’t get this much intensity in a bullet vibrator without trading off some rumbliness. I haven’t found any as powerful as the Nu Sensuelle Point (8.75 out of 10 strength) that remain rumbly. The We-Vibe Tango X gets close (7.75 out of 10 strength) and is the best option for those who value strong vibrations with exceptional rumbliness.
The Fun Factory Laya III’s vibrations have excellent rumbliness and a rich, layered feel. The first several settings feel very rumbly, and the top two settings are neutral.
But there’s more to the Laya’s story than most mini vibrators – the Laya’s vibrations also have a unique “layering effect,” which feels like typical vibrations plus a distinct “tapping” sensation underneath them. Listen to it in the video below.
To acheive this tapping effect, the motor runs at your chosen speed (the frequencies shown in our graph above), just like any other vibrator. But the Laya’s internal software briefly cuts power to the motor for mere milliseconds causing the motor to momentarily decelerate. Then it resumes power so the motor quickly accelerates back to its main operating frequency.
This brief slowdown-speedup cycle happens within milliseconds and sounds like a thump-thump-thump tapping. And it feels like deeper, more rumbly vibrations than the main frequency (because it’s actually decelerating briefly through lower frequencies).
All this is happening so fast, many times each second, that it feels like you’re always experiencing both the main vibration frequency and a more rumbly vibration frequency at the same time.
I love this innovation because I think both rumbly and neutral vibrations have benefits. Rumbly vibrations travel deeper and stimulate more nerves beneath the surface. But neutral (and buzzy) vibrations provide a surface-level kick that I also enjoy.
On the Fun Factory Laya III’s top settings I get the benefit of both types of vibrations – the concentrated, surface-level kick from the neutral vibes and the deeper stimulation from the rumbly tapping effect. It’s not an out-of-this-world difference, but I think it improves upon ordinary vibrations. And I enjoy this feeling more than normal rumbly vibes.
I’ve noticed a similar tapping effect in a few other rumbly mini-vibrators, like the We-Vibe Touch X and Je Joue Amour, but only on their lowest levels (which are already rumbly). But the Laya III keeps this deep, tapping sensation through all its power levels, even up to the top strength. So it’s the only one I’ve tried that feels like it combines neutral and rumbly vibes.
If you prefer only rumbly vibrations, you could stick to the lower power levels of the Laya III, which have a rumbly main frequency and a deeper tapping. Or go with the purely rumbly We-Vibe Tango X.
But the Fun Factory Laya III is right in my sweet spot. My favorite vibrations have a neutral feel, with a little overlap into the moderate levels of rumbly and buzzy. The Laya III fits really well with this preference.
Stimulation Precision
The Nu Sensuelle has pretty precise stimulation due to its tapered tip. So you can limit contact to a specific area, which is great if you prefer direct, focused clitoral stimulation.
Besides the taper, the 0.79-inch width is very close to what I consider a medium-precision bullet. And when I press the side of the bullet against my body (instead of just the tip), I can distribute the vibrations across a wider area. This is useful if you enjoy firm pressure from your bullet since a wider surface area can be more comfortable to press against.
The Fun Factory Laya III provides lovely broad stimulation when using its entire length to hug your vulva. Or you can get a medium amount of precision when holding it like an ordinary vibrator, pressing the tip to your clit.
So this lay-on vibrator is best for people who prefer moderate to broad precision.
I wanted to clarify this because the Fun Factory Laya is marketed as also offering “pinpoint” stimulation using the ridges. But while the ridges provide an enjoyable texture, they are too small and un-pronounced to provide focused stimulation, like a typical bullet vibrator does. Your body cannot feel each ridge on its own.
If you prefer something that offers both broad and focused stimulation, consider the We-Vibe Touch X—you can use the flatter surface for broad stimulation or the slim tapered tip for focused stimulation.
But for those who enjoy broad coverage, the Laya is excellent! It blankets the whole vulva for direct but comfortably diffuse stimulation.
Comfort & Ease of Use
The Nu Sensuelle Point is comfortable to grip and easy to leverage, but its poor control system is annoying.
Its 0.79-inch wide body is comfortable to hold, and it has enough length (3.7 inches) to easily leverage and apply pressure. Even after long periods, I don’t feel finger or wrist strain while gripping this bullet. The vibrations travel into my hand a bit, but this is most prominent when held in the air. When you press the bullet against you, the vibrations in my hand dampen, and I don’t find them distracting.
Unfortunately, with 20 settings (10 power levels and 10 vibration patterns), its one-button control system is annoying. If you want to return to a previous setting, you need to cycle through all the remaining power levels and patterns!
You cannot even take a shortcut by turning the Nu Sensuelle Point off and back on to start over because it has a memory feature. It will pick back up where you left off! This is another reason I think the nearly identical Nasstoys Travel Vibe Mini is more convenient.
Even better are bullet vibrators with separate buttons to increase and decrease power, like the cheaper Blush Limited Addiction or the premium We-Vibe Tango X.
The Fun Factory Laya III is very comfortable and easy to use.
Even though there’s not an obvious handle, there are several convenient and comfortable ways to hold the Laya III. It takes a little getting used to if you’re accustomed to bullet vibrators because it’s girthier and curved, but I’ve found this makes it more versatile. You can leverage it easily with your fingers or simply rest your palm over it and lightly press it to your vulva.
When lying on top of the Laya, it’s very comfortable if you’re only pressing your body lightly against it. It curves along your body and spreads the vibrations over the whole area, which keeps the direct contact comfortable.
If you want to press your hips into it, you may have to take your time to find a comfortable angle to lay the vibrator – the Laya’s very firm, so in some positions, it can be uncomfortable to press too hard into it. If I want to press harder into the Laya, I’ve found using blankets or a pillow beneath the Laya to adjust its angle makes it more comfortable and provides some cushioning. Or you can slip your hand under your body to hold the Laya tilted at the angle you like.
When using the Laya as an ordinary handheld vibrator, you can feel the vibrations in your hand—but that’s mostly when you’re holding it in the air. I don’t feel them much once I press the Fun Factory Laya to my body, and I don’t find them distracting at all, even on high power.
The curved shape makes it easy to apply excellent pressure whether you’re gripping it or using it hands-free by pressing your hips down into it. Because it’s very firm (not plush like the We-Vibe Touch X or Magic Wand Micro), you may have to limit how much pressure you apply to keep it comfortable against your body. But with the powerful, layered vibrations, I don’t have to press hard to get excellent clit stimulation.
The buttons are positioned above the part of the Laya in contact with your clit, so pressing a button also pushes the Laya against you more firmly. If you don’t like that firm contact, you can simply move the toy away from your body briefly while you change the power.
The controls themselves are excellent. The “+” and “-” buttons allow you to tap back and forth through the 7 power levels and 3 patterns. You don’t need to cycle through power levels to return to a previous setting, as many mini vibrators require you to do. You can also press and hold the Laya’s buttons to make even more gradual adjustments.
Use During Sex
The Nu Sensuelle Point is very easy and comfortable to use during sex (provided you don’t typically change power levels often). It’s a great thin size to fit into tight spaces. The bullet is also long enough that I can comfortably hold it between our bodies.
I can also keep good contact with my clit without angling the bullet’s base out in a way that interferes with my partner’s body.
The Fun Factory Laya III is one of my favorite mini vibrators to use during sex.
First, you can use it as a lay-on vibrator during sex for hands-free clit stimulation (discussed in depth below). If you don’t want to hold the Laya, you can lie face down with the vibrator sandwiched between your vulva and the bed (or a pillow) while your partner penetrates from behind. This is one of the main reasons I love the Laya III and use it so much!
If you don’t want to limit yourself to the position I mentioned above, it’s also great when you hold the Fun Factory Laya and use it like a normal handheld vibrator.
In sex positions with a lot of space to maneuver, like Spooning, there are many comfortable ways to use the Laya. You can rest your palm over the toy to press its contoured shape comfortably along your body. Or you can hold the end and angle it against you for firmer pressure. It’s very comfortable and keeps great contact with my clit, even during a lot of movement.
It’s also excellent in Missionary or other positions facing your partner. The curved design helps it fit seamlessly between your bodies, even when space is limited in these face-to-face positions. The curved shape also makes leveraging the Laya to apply pressure during sex easy. Occasionally, if my partner’s thrusting fast or his body bumps into my hand, the Laya can press mildly uncomfortably into my clit since it’s so firm. But this is rare and I haven’t found it to be a major issue.
The layered, rumbly vibrations also travel deep into my body which is very stimulating during sex.
Noise
The Nu Sensuelle Point is one of the louder bullet vibrators I’ve tested, measuring 50.0 dB on high. I can use the low and middle power levels without my partner hearing the vibrations from the other side of a closed bedroom door. But when standing behind the door, he heard the upper settings easily.
Remember that the Nu Sensuelle gets pretty strong, so you still have some powerful levels to enjoy discreetly.
But if you want all power levels to be safe, the Blush Limited Addiction gets even stronger than the Nu Sensuelle Point while remaining inaudible from behind a closed door.
The Fun Factory Laya III’s noise levels are sub-par. The vibrations are often very quiet, only reaching 42.1 dB on high power. But when you hold the Laya in certain ways, it makes a louder rattling sound.
The rattling mostly happens when I’m holding the toy in the open air instead of pressed against my body. So when you move the Laya off your body to adjust its position, it’s likely to make this louder noise.
When we tested whether my partner could hear the Laya behind our closed bedroom door, he began hearing the rattling sound when I turned the Laya to power level 4 and above. But when I kept the Laya pressed to my body to prevent the rattling, he could not hear the vibrations on any power level or setting.
When I turned on a low-power box fan in the bedroom to mask the Laya’s noise, my partner said he could still barely hear the Laya rattling on its top setting – but only since he was standing right at the door trying to listen for it. He didn’t think anyone would notice it in a normal circumstance.
Playing music in the bedroom successfully masked the sound of the rattle.
Since I love everything else about this toy and we live alone, the noise issue doesn’t bother me, so I still use the Laya often. But if you have housemates, the We-Vibe Touch X is much quieter.
Battery Life
The Nu Sensuelle Point is rechargeable and has a pretty good battery life for its strength. In our testing, it lasted 85 minutes constantly vibrating on its maximum power. This is very convenient if you frequently forget to charge between uses like me.
The Fun Factory Laya III is rechargeable and has a great battery life, lasting 103 minutes on its highest power in our test. This is longer than most of my bullet and mini vibrators, even than stronger ones. So it’s an excellent choice if you want a mini-vibrator with a long battery life.
You charge it with the included magnetic USB charging cable. One downside is that it takes 6-7 hours to fully charge, whereas most take just 1-2 hours. So you’ll want to plan ahead to keep the Laya charged. I typically charge it after every use, just in case.
Build Quality
The Nu Sensuelle Point has a smooth texture, a solid feel when pressing the button, and a pretty durable feel. Though it’s not quite as heavy as the nearly identical Nasstoys Intense Travel Vibe Mini, which makes that bullet feel a little higher-quality.
The Fun Factory Laya III has a fantastic build quality (except for the rattling sound discussed above). The body-safe silicone feels very luxurious, and the ridges provide a grippy texture I really like. It has a nice weight, which feels high-quality in the hand. I also like the feel of the button click. The buttons are raised, so you can feel them without looking. The Laya feels solid and not easily breakable, with no bendy parts at risk of overstress.
I also love the color I got—“Sage Green,” a muted, more neutral-feeling color that is rare in the hot pink world of sex toys.
Cleaning
This bullet is completely waterproof (IPX7), so you can completely submerge it while you scrub it with soap and water, making it very easy to clean!
Since the Fun Factory Laya III is IPX7 waterproof, it’s very easy to clean. You can fully submerge it while scrubbing with soap and water without worrying about damaging the toy. And you can also take it with you in the bath!
