Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 8.3 7.9
Power Range Rating 6.3 8.2
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Maude Drop has a great top vibration strength but a mediocre power range. The lowest setting is a 4.75 out of 10 vibration strength, so it begins with moderate power. This may be too much for those who need gentle warmup levels, but it will be fine for those who are not extra sensitive.

The top strength is an 8 out of 10, which is above average for a mini vibrator and is more than enough power for me. There are only 3 intensity levels, so the jumps between strengths are not gradual. Some people will find the steps jarring.

Maude Drop and Lovense Ambi
The Maude Drop (left) and an alternative with a similar top power, but better low settings, the Lovense Ambi (right)

If you want comparable strength on high power but also need gentle warmup levels, consider the Lovense Ambi. If you enjoy intensity and do not need gradual steps, the Maude Drop is good.

The Pillow Talk Racy has a powerful top setting and covers an impressive range from low to high. It’s great for everyone but those who need extreme power.

The starting power is a 2 out of 10 vibration strength. So it begins soft enough for people who need a warmup and those overstimulated by intensity. And its top level reaches 7.75 out of 10, a strength I consider intense. Although there are a few bullets with more extreme upper settings like the Blush Limited Addiction and BMS Swan Maximum, I orgasm effortlessly and reliably with the Pillow Talk Racy.

Blush Limited Addicion with Swan Maximum Bullet and Pillow Talk Racy
The Pillow Talk Racy (right) and alternatives with more extreme top power levels – the Blush Limited Addiction (left) and BMS Swan Maximum (middle)

With the Pillow Talk Racy’s incremental speed control, it covers its power range completely. You’ll hold the button to gradually increase power in tiny increments and release it when you’ve reached your desired strength.

Pillow Talk Racy Control Button
The press-and-hold button allows for incremental power adjustments – it provides better control than one-button, tap to cycle through options

As a result, steps between power levels are very comfortable – not jarring. And you have a ton of intensity levels available in each part of the power range (gentle, moderate, and strong). Many other bullet vibrators may cover a wide power range but do so with only a few distinct intensity levels.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 4.7 7.7
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 96 Hz 49 Hz
Median Frequency 119 Hz 72 Hz
Frequency on High Power 128 Hz 83 Hz
Rumbliness & Power Balance 5.2 7.7

The Maude Drop is for those who want intense buzzy vibrations. Even its lowest setting is moderately buzzy. And the top two levels are extremely buzzy.

If you don’t know whether you prefer rumbly or buzzy vibrations, I’d recommend a more rumbly option since that’s what most people like. But some (though fewer) people prefer buzziness. And the Maude Drop will satisfy those who like the combination of extreme buzziness and high intensity.

Maude Drop and Rumblier Alternatives Pillow Talk Racy with Magic Wand Mini and Orion Your New Favorite Wand
The Maude Drop (top) and some more rumbly alternatives – the bullet, Pillow Talk Racy (left) and some wands, the Magic Wand Mini (middle) and Orion Your New Favorite Wand (right)

Rumble lovers should consider other options. The Pillow Talk Racy is the most rumbly mini vibrator in this price range. Or, if you’re considering the Maude Drop for its wide shape, try a mini wand like the Magic Wand Mini, one of my favorites. Or the Orion Your New Favorite Wand (now tricky to find) if you need to stick to a tighter budget.

We rate rumbly vibrations higher than buzzy ones because it’s what most people prefer.

The majority of the Pillow Talk Racy’s vibrations are rumbly. Only the top few power levels cross into the neutral-feeling range, which I actually really enjoy. The more expensive We-Vibe Tango X and the discontinued original Tango are the only two bullet vibrators I’ve tested with comparable power that are more rumbly than the Pillow Talk Racy.

Pillow Talk Racy and Rumblier We-Vibe Tango X
The We-Vibe Tango X (right) is the only option that’s more rumbly than the Pillow Talk Racy (right) at the same strength. But it’s more expensive

The Pillow Talk Racy is a great, affordable bullet for those who prefer rumbly vibrations.

G-Spot Use

The Pillow Talk Racy is an excellent toy for internal use. Although longer, full-sized G-spot vibrators are easier to leverage and maneuver, the Racy is my favorite mini G-spot vibrator.

Pillow Talk Racy with Full Sized G-spot Vibrators
The Pillow Talk Racy (left) is a similar design to typical G-spot vibrators, but much smaller)

The Racy’s handle is longer than my other G-spot bullets, allowing your hand more space to grip the toy while using it internally. This helps keep your hand and fingers comfortable while leveraging the vibrator for firm pressure.

As a mini version of the full-sized Pillow Talk Sassy (1.5 inches wide), the Racy is slimmer at just 1.03 inches wide. People who find large toys uncomfortable will prefer the Racy’s narrower head (I like it more personally). But people who like girth and feeling “full” will enjoy the Sassy more.

Pillow Talk Racy and Pillow Talk Sassy
The Pillow Talk Racy (left) is the smaller version of the Pillow Talk Sassy (right)

I enjoy rumbly vibrations for internal stimulation, so the Pillow Talk Racy’s rumbly low and moderate power levels are fantastic. And even though the high-powered settings are not rumbly, they’re still strong enough to have an enjoyable impact.

Pillow Talk Racy Bendiness
The Pillow Talk Racy is flexible, which makes it especially comfortable for internal use

I love the slightly flexible core, which makes inserting and moving this vibrator easier and more comfortable than a rigid toy. The bulbous shape of the Racy’s head also spreads the pressure comfortably!

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision Broad Medium

Pillow Talk Racy Typical Tip Width Photo
Head or Tip Width 1.41 inches 1.03 inches
Tip Shape Broad Rounded Rounded

Whether you enjoy broad stimulation that encompasses your whole vulva or precise stimulation that remains focused on a particular spot is a personal preference.

The Maude Drop provides very broad stimulation. It is an egg-shaped mini-vibrator, so you can’t limit pressure to a small area. Even the tapered tip feels wider than most mini vibrators.

Bullet Vibrator Tip Precision Levels
Examples of different precision levels in bullets and mini-vibrators

Pressing any section of this toy against you will stimulate most of your vulva. In this way, it acts more like a wand vibrator than a bullet! It’s great for those who enjoy diffuse stimulation that affects the entire area.

The Pillow Talk Racy lies between broad and focused. Its rounded G-spot tip is broader than most bullet vibrators at 1.03 inches wide. But as a mini vibrator, it’s still more focused than large toys like full-sized G-spot vibrators, wand vibrators, and even other mini vibrators like the We-Vibe Touch X.

Bullet Vibrator Tip Precision Levels
Examples of different precision levels in bullets and mini-vibrators

This is my favorite size for applying firm pressure because it comfortably distributes the stimulation but is still narrow enough to target a specific area. The coverage is not focused exclusively on the clit, but it’s also not blanketing your whole vulva.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating 5.2 9.6
Maude Drop Comfort and Ease of Use Photo
Pillow Talk Racy Comfort and Ease of Use Photo
Grip Comfort 5.9 10.0
Controls 5.0 9.0
Easy Leverage & Pressure 4.0 10.0

Compared to my other bullets and mini vibrators, the Maude Drop is difficult to use and uncomfortable.

Unlike most mini, bullet, or wand vibrators, the Maude Drop has no “handle.” So you hold the Drop directly where the motor is located. As a result, I feel the vibrations substantially in my hand. It’s tolerable on the lowest setting but very distracting on the top two power levels.

Maude Drop and Magic Wand Mini
You can find broad-coverage vibrators that have handles for easier leverage like the Magic Wand Mini (right)

The handleless egg shape makes it difficult to leverage the toy for pressure – you must use your whole hand and arm to press. For those who typically just rest the vibrator against you, this won’t matter too much. But those who like to apply pressure will want a toy with a handle.

Whole Hand Pressing Maude Drop
You have to use your whole hand to press and hold the Maude Drop

The Maude Drop uses a single-button control system to cycle through the 3 intensity levels. Since there are only 3 settings, cycling through them takes little time, so having just one button is not an issue. But the button is difficult to press, and I often need two hands.

Maude Drop Leverage Compared to We-Vibe Touch X Leverage
The Maude Drop (left) and an alternative with broad coverage and an easier grip, the We-Vibe Touch X (right)

If you want a broad mini vibrator like the Maude Drop, the We-Vibe Touch X is much more comfortable and easy to use. Or, if you are okay with a larger toy, consider a quality, affordable wand vibrator like the Magic Wand Mini.

The Pillow Talk Racy is exceptionally comfortable and easy to use for clit stimulation (also see our section discussing G-spot use above).

Pillow Talk Racy and Smaller Vibrators
The Pillow Talk Racy is one of my tallest bullet vibrators

At 5 inches in length, it’s one of my longest bullet vibrators. This length makes it easier to leverage and provides more space to grip the handle comfortably without your fingers getting tired or cramped. The vibrations also don’t travel much into my hands, so I can play comfortably for a long time.

Pillow Talk Racy Hooked End and Long Handle
The Racy is very comfortable to grip and leverage due to the long handle and curved tip

The hooked end makes it even easier to apply firm pressure without wrist or finger strain. And I love that the core is slightly flexible, which keeps the firm pressure from bumping into my pubic bone too hard.

The incremental control system takes getting used to, but I like it. You increase power by holding down the button. The Pillow Talk Racy will gradually increase strength until you release the button when you reach your preferred intensity. To go back to the gentlest power, you can double-click the button.

Pillow Talk Racy with Other Mini Vibrator Buttons
The one-button press-and-hold system allows incremental adjustments upward, but not downward. It provides more control than one button tap-to-cycle setups (Nu Sensuelle Point on left), but less control than multi-button setups like the We-Vibe Touch X on the right

The downside of this method is that you can’t step back down a power level or two. You’ll have to return to the beginning by double-clicking – then hold down the button again. However, I’ve found that this hasn’t felt disruptive during use. And the advantage of this method is that it inherently provides tiny, comfortable steps between power levels – never a large, jarring leap.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 3.5 10.0
Maude Drop Maneuverability in a Tight Space Photo
Pillow Talk Racy Maneuverability in a Tight Space Photo
Spooning 6.0 10.0
Missionary 1.0 10.0

The Maude Drop is a poor toy during sex. I can only get good stimulation from it in the spooning position or others where I’m not facing my partner. And I get tired quickly from pressing with my whole arm since it can’t be leveraged easily.

Maude Drop and More Leveragable Alts We-Vibe Touch X and Je Joue Amour
The Maude Drop (left) with broad-coverage alternatives that are easier to leverage during sex, the We-Vibe Touch X (middle) and Je Joue Amour (right)

When using the Maude Drop in missionary position, it’s too bulky to fit both the toy and my hand between our bodies, so I don’t feel any impactful vibes. Slimmer mini vibrators like the We-Vibe Touch X (one of my favorites) or Dame Pom have a better shape to use during sex in all positions. Or the Je Joue Amour is another broad option that’s more affordable.

The Pillow Talk Racy is remarkable during sex.

The typical angled shape of G-spot vibrators like the Racy makes them more convenient during sex. The Racy’s curved tip fits more naturally between our bodies without needing to angle the handle outward as I would with a straight bullet vibrator.

Pillow Talk Flirty Compared to Pillow Talk Racy During Sex
The curved tip of the Pillow Talk Racy (right) helps it stay tighter against my chest than straight bullets like the Pillow Talk Flirty (left)

Since the Racy is also longer than most bullet vibrators I’ve tested, my hands don’t need to reach as far and take up space between my legs. The head is small enough to slip into tight areas easily. And the slightly flexible core moves comfortably with your body to maintain contact and prevent uncomfortable bumping around.

If you’re hoping to use a bullet vibrator during sex, this is one of the most convenient and effective ones for the job!

Noise

Noise Rating 8.0 10.0
Audibility Behind Closed Door 8.0 10.0
Decibels on High Power 45.3 dB 35 dB
Decibels on Low Power 41.2 dB 35 dB
Low Power Inaudible Inaudible
Middle Power Inaudible Inaudible
High Power Audible Inaudible
High Power with Box Fan Inaudible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

While the Maude Drop is not one of my quietest mini vibrators, it’s reasonably discreet.

I can use the first two power levels in my bedroom without my partner noticing from the other side of the door. At its highest power level, my partner could hear it during our testing. However, he noted that he had to wait for noise outside our house to get especially quiet to hear the Maude Drop – and he doubted anyone would notice it during ordinary use.

Turning on a box fan or playing music in the bedroom completely masked the Maude Drop’s noise on its highest power. So if you need to be discrete, it’s definitely doable with some creativity.

Maude Drop with Quieter We-Vibe Touch X and Pillow Talk Racy
The Maude Drop (left) with my quieter alternatives, the We-Vibe Touch X (middle) and Pillow Talk Racy (right)

Consider the We-Vibe Touch X or Pillow Talk Racy if you prioritize quiet vibrations.

The Pillow Talk Racy is one of my absolute quietest bullet vibrators. This is especially impressive considering its excellent power.

It’s one of only four bullet vibrators we tested that had noise levels so low our Sound Level Meter could not pick up the sound. Even on high power, its decibel levels did not exceed the ambient background noise of the room itself.

My partner could not hear it from behind a closed bedroom door on any power level during our testing. In fact, the noise is so low I hardly notice the sound myself while I’m using the Racy. So the Pillow Talk Racy is an excellent choice if you live with others or are distracted by sound.

Battery Life

Battery Life Rating 7.0 5.3
Maude Drop Charging Cable Photo
Pillow Talk Racy Charging Cable Photo
Battery Life on High Power 75 Minutes 40 Minutes
Power Source Rechargeable Rechargeable
Charging Cable Pin Pin

The Maude Drop is rechargeable and has an acceptable battery life, lasting 75 minutes on high power. At this level, you’ll definitely have enough time, but you’ll want to charge between uses.

The Pillow Talk Racy’s battery life is disappointing. In our testing, it only lasted 40 minutes continuously vibrating on its highest power – well below average.

Pillow Talk Racy and We-Vibe Tango X
The Pillow Talk Racy (left) and an alternative with a longer battery life – the We-Vibe Tango X (right)

I prefer my bullets to last for at least an hour. Plenty surpass this, including our best overall bullet vibrator, the We-Vibe Tango X. However, you can extend the Pillow Talk Racy’s runtime if you also use the lower and middle power levels. But you’ll want to remember to charge the Racy between each use.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 7.0 9.0
Maude Drop Build Quality Photo
Pillow Talk Racy Build Quality Photo

The Maude Drop has a decent build quality. It’s covered in a comfortable, smooth silicone. The button feels a little cheap because it has some responsiveness issues and takes firm pressure to click. But the toy itself seems solid and durable.

The Pillow Talk Racy has excellent build quality! The only aspect of the Racy’s build that I don’t like is that it uses a pin-charger through the toy’s body with self-healing silicone. While not inherently worse, most companies have moved to using magnetic chargers. But the rest of the build is superb.

Pillow Talk Racy Charging Hole and Pin
The Pillow Talk Racy’s pinhole charging port

It’s covered in a smooth, luxurious silicone. Its flexible core is not flimsy – it feels sturdy, high-quality, and has a good weight. The textured grip, metallic colored accents, and crystal button feel elegant. The Racy’s button is also easier to press than my other Pillow Talk bullet (the Pillow Talk Flirty). I expect the Pillow Talk Racy to last a while!

Cleaning

Waterproof Rating IPX6 IPX6

The Maude Drop is easy to clean by running it under the sink. It’s IPX6 splashproof, so you can safely scrub it under running water, but you should not completely submerge it.

The Pillow Talk Racy is easy to clean because it’s IPX6 splashproof. It can resist high-pressure streams of water, so you can run it safely under the faucet while cleaning it with soap and water. But you should not completely submerge it or use it underwater.
