Vibrations: Power And Range

Max Power Rating 6.8 10.0
Power Range Rating 2.1 9.3
Power vs Frequency Graph
How Strong Is Each Power?

The Magic Wand Micro has 3 power levels in a very tight range – they’re all mid-powered. The lowest setting is a 4.5 out of 10 strength, and the highest is 5.5 (on a scale compared to other mini and bullet vibrators). Compared to the larger Magic Wands, the Micro is substantially weaker.

The Micro has enough strength for me to orgasm, but it takes some effort. Some days, it feels just right, and others, I want a little more power. When I’m going for a second “O,” I definitely need more strength.

Its narrow power range is the Magic Wand Micro’s biggest drawback. Since the Micro’s range is so limited, it’s hard to predict whether it will suit your preferences. Plus, many people need gentle levels while warming up and intense levels to finish. Mini vibrators with a broader power range are simply more versatile.

Magic Wand Micro and Alternatives with Wider Power Ranges We-Vibe Touch X and Lovense Ambi
The Magic Wand Micro (left) and alternatives with wider power ranges, the We-Vibe Touch X (middle) and Lovense Ambi (right)

If you typically need both gentle and intense levels, the We-Vibe Touch X or Lovense Ambi are better mini vibrators for you. If you only need moderate intensity, you’ll enjoy the Magic Wand Micro’s vibrations.

The other Magic Wands, like the Magic Wand Mini and Magic Wand Rechargeable, are significantly stronger with broader power ranges. In fact, the Magic Wand Micro’s top setting is only as powerful as the Mini’s lowest setting. So, if you’re after more power, try the Mini for a mid-sized or the Rechargeable for a full-sized option.

Note: Although the Magic Wand Micro’s and Mini’s power graphs look similar, we rated the Micro in comparison to bullet and mini vibrators, whereas the Magic Wand Mini is rated in comparison to wand vibrators, which are much stronger than bullets. So the numerical results between the two reviews are not directly comparable.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has the strongest top power of all my bullet vibrators, reaching an 11 out of 10 strength. You read that right—an 11. The Swan Maximum was released after my first round of bullet vibrator testing, but it beat out my previous most powerful bullets, the Blush Limited Addiction and Doxy Bullet, which I had rated 10!

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet with Other Strong Bullets Blush Limited Addiction and Doxy Bullet
The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet (top) is even stronger than the Blush Limited Addiction (left) and Doxy Bullet (right)

The BMS Swan Maximum’s 11/10 power is stronger than I could ever need. In fact, without the silicone grip that comes with the bullet, its top setting is too strong to hold in my hand!

Gripping BMS Swan Maximum Bullet With Comfy Cuff
I need to use the silicone grip to hold the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet on high power, otherwise it’s too much for my hand

Thankfully, it also has the widest power range of my bullets (another benefit over the Blush Limited Addiction and Doxy Bullet), starting at just a 2.5 out of 10 vibration strength. So, it has plenty of milder settings if you prefer gentle to moderate stimulation.

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Buttons
The control buttons allow tapping back and forth on power or a press-and-hold method for micro-adjustments

The press-and-hold buttons also let you gradually increase and decrease intensity in tiny steps. With such a comprehensive power range, most people will find some intensity levels they enjoy.

Vibrations: Frequency (Rumbliness)

Rumbliness Rating 8.3 6.1
Power vs Frequency Graph
Frequency on Low Power 49 Hz 61 Hz
Median Frequency 62 Hz 91 Hz
Frequency on High Power 80 Hz 114 Hz
Rumbliness & Power Balance 7.8 6.3

The Magic Wand Micro has great rumbly vibrations on the first two settings and a neutral-feeling top setting. Neutral vibrations are actually some of my favorites since I enjoy the greater kick at the surface they bring over rumbly vibrations. So I’m glad the top power feels neutral, and I enjoy the lower settings’ rumbly feel for a comfortable warmup.

If you enjoy mid-strength, moderately rumbly vibrations, the Magic Wand Micro is great. If you prefer deeper rumbliness, the We-Vibe Tango X bullet vibrator remains extremely rumbly on every setting. Or for similar rumbliness to the Magic Wand Micro with a broader power range, consider the Pillow Talk Racy.

Magic Wand Micro with We-Vibe Tango X and Pillow Talk Racy
The Magic Wand Micro and alternatives with deeper vibrations or a wider range, the We-Vibe Tango X and Pillow Talk Racy

The Magic Wand Micro is less rumbly than the other Magic Wands (except the Original). Its frequency range is pretty similar to the Rechargeable, Plus, and Mini. But these larger wands have much more power on their rumbly settings, so their vibrations feel more impactful.

The BMS Swan Maximum’s vibrations are primarily buzzy. The lowest power levels are moderately rumbly, which is a nice, gentle intro. But by the time you reach settings with moderate strength, the vibrations feel neutral. And they quickly become buzzy as you increase the intensity higher.

Whether this is good or bad depends on your preferences. Some people prefer buzzy vibrations, whereas others want rumbly (low-frequency) vibes.

Since I prefer moderate intensity, I only need to use the first half of the Swan Maximum’s power levels – so I typically use those rumbly and neutral vibes. But if you’re interested in those extremely intense top settings, you have to love buzzy vibrations.

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet and We-Vibe Tango X
The We-Vibe Tango X (right) is my most rumbly bullet, but it doesn’t get as strong as the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet (left)

However, none of my rumbly bullet vibrators come close to the Swan Maximum’s vibration power. The We-Vibe Tango X is my strongest rumbly bullet, reaching a top strength of 7.75.

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet with the Lovense Domi 2 and BMS Swan Era Wand
The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet (left) with stronger, rumblier alternatives: the Lovense Domi 2 (middle) and BMS Swan Era Wand (right).

When it comes to bullet vibrators, you generally need to choose between more power or more rumbliness. If strong, rumbly vibrations are your priority, a wand vibrator like the Lovense Domi 2 or BMS Swan Era Wand is better. Because wand vibrators’ motors are heavier, they’re often both rumbly and strong.

Stimulation Precision

Stimulation Precision Medium Precise
BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Typical Tip Width Photo
Head or Tip Width 1.31 inches 0.75 inches
Tip Shape Rounded Lipstick

The Magic Wand Micro’s precision is between broad and focused, with a head width of 1.31 inches. This is broader than most bullet and mini vibrators (the median width of the ones we’ve tested so far is about 0.9 inches) but more focused than the other Magic Wands, which have heads ranging from 1.9 to 2.4 inches wide.

Magic Wand Micro with Smaller Tipped Bullets and Larger Heads of Wands
The Magic Wand Micro (middle) has a smaller head than any of the other Magic Wands, but larger than many bullets or mini vibrators

I enjoy the Magic Wand Micro’s moderate width – it’s comfortable for direct stimulation because the pressure spreads out evenly. When I use a slimmer toy than the Magic Wand Micro, I usually use it for indirect stimulation, pressing it near the side of my clit. Precise, direct stimulation often feels too intense for me. But it feels good with the Magic Wand Micro.

Varying Stimulation Precision with Magic Wand Micro
You can use the edge of the cylinder for a smaller area, or the entire side for broad coverage

The Magic Wand Micro’s head shape also makes it easy to vary the precision. You can use the top lip of the cylindrical head for more focused stimulation or the side of the head for broader stimulation.

Whether you prefer broad or focused stimulation is up to your personal preference.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet provides a versatile experience because you can use the thin lipstick tip (just 0.75 inches wide) for very precise contact. But you can also press the side of the bullet to your body to cover more area for those who prefer to spread the stimulation out more.

Comfort & Ease of Use

Comfort & Ease of Use Rating 9.4 7.2
Magic Wand Micro Comfort and Ease of Use Photo
BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Comfort and Ease of Use Photo
Grip Comfort 10.0 5.9
Controls 8.5 8.5
Easy Leverage & Pressure 10.0 7.0

The Magic Wand Micro is exceptionally comfortable and easy to use. The handle is a great size to grip comfortably without cramping my hand or fingers, and it’s easy to leverage. I like how the base flares out a bit, providing a natural leverage spot for the inside of my thumb to press against, making it extra easy to apply firm pressure.

Using Thumb to Leverage Magic Wand Micro
I like the flared base for better leverage

The plush silicone head and flexible neck keep the contact on my clit very comfy when I’m applying firm pressure. Very few mini vibrators have a plush head like the Magic Wand Micro.

I can also press the Micro’s buttons easily to change the setting during use, and their placement doesn’t cause me to accidentally press them when I don’t want to.

Magic Wand Micro Control Buttons
The button controls on the Magic Wand Micro

You tap the power button to turn it on, then tap the settings button to cycle through the 3 power levels and 4 patterns. The controls are more limited than vibrators with separate buttons to increase and decrease power. But since there are only 7 settings, cycling through them doesn’t take too long. When you turn the Magic Wand Micro off and back on, it starts again at the gentlest power setting – so you can use this method to get back to the beginning too.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is very easy to use, but it has some uncomfortable aspects.

It has great controls with two press-and-hold buttons that let you increase and decrease power continuously – there are no jumps between settings. Simply hold the increase or decrease power button, and the Swan Maximum will gradually change power. This control system makes finding the exact power level you need easy.

BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Buttons
Tap back and forth on power or press-and-hold to micro-adjust strength

Some other bullet vibrators, like the Pillow Talk Racy and Flirty, have a similar continuous system. But these bullets have just one button, so you can only increase power gradually. To decrease power, you have to turn them off and on again to start over. So, the BMS Swan Maximum’s second button is helpful.

Buttons of the BMS Swan Maximum with Pillow Talk Racy and Pillow Talk Flirty
The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet’s buttons (left) allow press-and-hold going up or down. The Pillow Talk Racy (middle) and Pillow Talk Flirty (right) only have one button for press-and-hold going up

I personally find the Swan Maximum’s buttons take firm pressure to hold down, which is tiring if you change power often. The Pillow Talk Racy’s button is easier to press. And if you don’t need super tiny power adjustments, ordinary clickable buttons like those of the Blush Limited Addiction are fine. But the Swan’s two press-and-hold buttons have their benefits in finding your ideal strength.

The BMS Swan is only adequately comfortable. The bullet is shorter than I prefer, and the base tapers inward, forcing you to grip it toward the middle of the bullet. This makes the usable length even shorter, causes my fingers to feel cramped in a tight space, and doesn’t provide as much leverage as longer bullets.

Tapered Base of the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet
The end tapers off, so it decreases the grippable area

The Swan Maximum’s vibrations travel into my hand, too. They’re comfortable at low to medium power levels, but they’re distracting at the top half of the settings. The silicone Comfy Cuff that comes with it is a must if you plan to use the higher powers—it helps dampen the vibrations in your fingers but doesn’t completely eliminate them.

Gripping BMS Swan Maximum Bullet With Comfy Cuff
If you plan to use the higher power levels, you must use the silicone grip or the vibrations in your hand are overwhelming

The Blush Limited Addiction is another extremely powerful bullet with less (but not zero) vibrations in your hand. With very powerful bullet vibrators, your fingers are close to the motor since bullets are tiny. So, if you’re particularly sensitive to vibrations in your fingers, try a mid-sized toy like the Lovense Hyphy or a small wand vibrator like the Lovense Domi 2.

Use During Sex

Use During Sex Rating 8.7 10.0
Magic Wand Micro Maneuverability in a Tight Space Photo
BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Maneuverability in a Tight Space Photo
Spooning 10.0 10.0
Missionary 7.4 10.0

The Magic Wand Micro is outstanding in spooning positions or others where you’re not facing your partner. It’s easy to fit between your legs, and the medium coverage and plush surface make it great for direct stimulation. It feels comfortable against the body and is easy to leverage with one hand.

It still provides good stimulation if you’re in missionary or other positions facing your partner. But since the head size is bigger than most bullets, it takes up more space and can’t fit as tightly near your clit if you prefer direct stimulation. It’s still comfortable and provides solid, indirect vibrations. But if you particularly care about clit stimulation in face-to-face positions, the Lovense Ambi or another angled bullet vibrator is best.

The BMS Swan Maximum is excellent to use during sex. Its small size and tapered tip make it easy to fit into tight spaces. And since it can reach very high powers, it provides plenty of stimulation.

If you’re not using the silicone cuff to dampen the vibrations that travel into your hand, you can use it to attach the bullet to your fingers. That way, you can maneuver and press the bullet to your body without gripping it. While it’s not completely hands-free, like some couples vibrators, it’s minimal effort.

Two different ways to use the silicone band that comes with the BMS Swan Maximum

This can make it easier to hold during sex. Though, I can only tolerate using it this way on the low to medium levels (which have plenty of strength for me). If I use the Swan Maximum’s highest levels, I need to use the Comfy Cuff to dampen the vibrations instead.

Noise

Noise Rating 8.6 7.7
Audibility Behind Closed Door 10.0 8.0
Decibels on High Power 51.9 dB 49.5 dB
Decibels on Low Power 45.1 dB 43.4 dB
Low Power Inaudible Inaudible
Middle Power Inaudible Inaudible
High Power Inaudible Audible
High Power with Box Fan Inaudible Inaudible
High Power with Music Inaudible Inaudible

The Magic Wand Micro has great noise levels. When I used it in the bedroom, with my partner listening from the other side of the door, he could not hear it on any setting. Its decibel level on high is technically greater than many of my bullets at 51.9 Hz, but since the vibrations are never buzzy, they are not noticeable.

If you’re holding the toy in open air, it can make a slight rattling noise, which still can’t be heard outside the room but could become annoying to the user. But making small adjustments to your grip and pressing the toy against your body stops this rattling sound. I haven’t found it to be an issue.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has good noise levels, considering its enormous power.

When I used it in the bedroom, my partner could only hear it on the highest settings from the other side of the bedroom door. We also found that he could only hear the Swan Maximum when the bullet accidentally brushed up against the comforter on my bed, which made a louder sound. When I kept the vibrator pressed to my body, he couldn’t hear it on the highest setting.

If you’re concerned about noise, stick to the medium power levels, which are still quite powerful. You can also turn on music or a fan to mask the noise.

Battery Life

Battery Life Rating 8.4 9.3
Magic Wand Micro Charging Cable Photo
BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Charging Cable Photo
Battery Life on High Power 108 Minutes 139 Minutes
Power Source Rechargeable Rechargeable
Charging Cable USB-C Magnetic

The Magic Wand Micro has a fantastic battery life, lasting 108 minutes on high power in our test. Only a small handful of my mini-vibrators lasted this long.

However, you have to remember that the Magic Wand Micro has moderate vibration strength, so it doesn’t use as much power as some others. If you choose a stronger mini vibrator, like the We-Vibe Touch X, you’ll have a longer runtime than our results if you typically use the lower and middle levels too. Our results are from running each vibrator on its highest setting until it dies.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has an amazing battery life. After charging it fully, I ran it on its highest power until it died – 139 minutes later. It lasted longer than any of the other bullets I’ve tested so far.

This was especially surprising since extremely powerful vibrators often die faster (since they use more power). All the bullet and mini vibrators that come close to the Swan Maximum’s battery life are substantially weaker.

Build Quality

Build Quality Rating 8.0 7.5
Magic Wand Micro Build Quality Photo
BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Build Quality Photo

The Magic Wand Micro has a good build quality. However, I didn’t rate it as highly as some of my others because it’s not waterproof or splashproof.

Besides the lack of water protection, the head is made of smooth, plush silicone that’s body-safe and wonderfully comfortable. While flexible, the neck feels sturdy, so I can still put firm pressure on it. The plastic handle feels well put together, and the reliable silicone buttons have a nice press-feel.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has a good build quality but is not luxurious. The ABS Plastic has a nice, metallic look and feels well-made, but it shows scratches easily. It seems durable but feels lighter than I expected due to the metallic look. Bullet vibrators actually made of metal, like the Le Wand Grand Bullet, are heavier and feel more solid.

The silicone buttons have a nice feel, and the detachable silicone grip is very plush. I wish the grip was wider to cover more surface area since the vibrations travel easily into my fingers, but it still does the trick well enough.

Cleaning

Cleaning Rating 7.0 10.0
Cleaning the Magic Wand Micro with damp cloth
BMS Swan Maximum Bullet Waterproof Rating Demonstration
Waterproof Rating No Rating IPX7

The Magic Wand Micro is not easy to clean. With such a small head, it could be easy to get water damage because it’s harder to keep water away from the neck.

The best practice is to clean it with a damp cloth. But when I’m in a rush, I often run it under the sink, keeping water from touching anywhere besides the silicone head. This is much trickier with the Magic Wand Micro compared to the larger Magic Wands since it’s so small.

If you’re not set on very intentional care, go with something waterproof like the We-Vibe Touch X or Lovense Ambi. There are many others with a waterproof rating too. To compare waterproof mini vibrators, you can use our Comparison Table tool here, click “Filters”, and check “IPX7” for the waterproof rating.

The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is IPX7 waterproof, so it’s very easy to clean. You can fully submerge it while scrubbing or use it in the bathtub.
